Winter Holiday Train - LEGO set build and review
This set was released in late 2016 and was available through the end of 2019. It can be combined with set number 10259, the Winter Village Station (check out last week’s video). The colours in this set are very vibrant and cheerful. This is my first LEGO train set. The set can be motorized but the components are not in production anymore and I am not certain if the modern replacements are compatible.

Winter Village Station - LEGO set build and review

This set was released in late 2017 as part of the seasonal Winter Village collection. It can be combined with set number 10254, the Winter Holliday Train (which I have and will be building next week). There are three main components to this set: a passenger bus, train tracks with crossing, and the train station. I separated out the bus construction into its own video, link below: LEGO Holiday B...

LEGO Nutcracker set build and review

This week I try to get over my irrational fear of Christmas Nutcrackers and build the LEGO Nutcracker set, originally released in 2017 as a gift with purchase. I don’t know why I find these things creepy. It’s just the expression on their cold, soulless faces I guess, lol. 😊 Referenced Video: Ice Skating Rink ruclips.net/video/mJBUPP_cjxo/видео.html #LEGO #40254 #Nutcracker #christmas #creepyAF
Ice Skating Rink - LEGO set build and review

This ice skating scene is very charming. In addition to looking great, the mini-figures can ‘skate’ around the ice using a built-in gear mechanism. This was a ‘gift with purchase’ from the LEGO company and was released during the 2020 holiday season. #LEGO #40416 #winter #iceskating
The LEGO set Santa's Front Yard is the perfect holiday diorama
Просмотров 8028 дней назад
Well, it’s that time of year again and I have a lot of holiday / winter themed sets to build. I thought I’d start this week with a very charming diorama of a reindeer and an elf at the North Pole. I believe this was a ‘gift with purchase’ from many years ago. Like most LEGO sets, the parts used are quite standard, with the exception of a few stickers. I’ve provided a link to the building instru...

I see you wanted to keep it clean (no mud stickers)
Yes. In some of my other videos I often complain about stickers in general (I don't like them), but the mud stickers for this set in particular I felt didn't add any value, and I like the cleaner look without them. I saved the stickers though, just in case I have a change of heart in the future.
My Lego death Vader the manual is wrong for the top sadly
I remember when I got the UCS Millennium Falcon over a decade ago, I was missing a whole 50 pages out of the manual. I contacted LEGO customer service and they sent me a new manual for free (which is impressive given the instructions are a coiled book almost 500 pages long). Give customer service a try! Or, here's a link to the PDF instructions: www.lego.com/en-ca/service/buildinginstructions/75304
Nice job Can't wait to build mine
Thanks. Have fun building yours!
After watching this again myself I noticed I say the word “now” a lot. How many times do I say it? You could make it a holiday drinking game. :D
Yeah, it’s something with the active ingredients they used for this color specifically, I would try to contact LEGO since I hear that they actually replace these “brittle brown” bricks, it was only after 2017 that they remade the formula for these so if they’re older than that it’s only more of a guarantee that a request for replacements is accepted :]
Thank you for the detailed information. Yes, the parts that broke on me were from MetalBeard's Sea Cow, released in 2014. I've already submitted a request for replacement parts. It's good to know they may have corrected the issue with later sets. Unfortunately I own a lot of sets prior to 2017 - so I'll have to be careful.
I've noticed this too its always the light brown that break first
There must be something about the additive used to make the colour that causes it to be brittle.
Damn that sucks bro sorry that happened
Thanks! It got to the point where every time I went to remove a brown coloured piece I got nervous, lol. Just something to watch out for I guess.
am I the only one thinking the cartoon was better than the movies?
I agree. I loved the cartoon, specifically "The Real Ghostbusters". Of course I'm old enough to have watched the cartoons when they first came out in the mid to late 80's. Looking back, the animation was a bit rough, but I think the story / episodes were better. Almost wish they did a live action TV series in the same style.
there is also a phone in one of the doors
You are totally correct. I built the set so long ago that I forgot it was even there. I had to get my set off the shelf and take a look. In the right hand door, there's a panel that swings down and there's a red phone inside. So cool how many things they fit into this relatively compact set.
Not exhaust pipes flare signals
Is that what they are?? I guess I need to go back and watch some of the old TV series to see if they ever get used in an episode.
A little history on the car
Focus Mike! Get some coffee
lol, yeah some days my head is in the clouds and I just make a lot of mistakes. :)
Some of my favorite builds are small ones. That one is cute.
Thank you! Yes, I am always impressed with how much detail can be put in a very small build. Larger builds are fun too, but it's nice to get a build done in less than an hour sometimes. :) I have a lot of these smaller size builds to do so there will be more to come.
i liked
Thank you! :)
Ile do like the 1966 batmobile to😊
Thanks for the comment. 😊 The final video for this set build will be posted on November 9th so check back then to see the finished set.
Nice vid and thanks
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Está increíble
Thank you! :)
We’re do I get this………..TELLL MMEEE
I don't think this set is available for sale directly from the LEGO company as I believe it was a 'gift with purchase' from several years ago. You may be able to find it on Bricklink, or you can get the instructions from the LEGO company as a PDF download and order individual parts through their 'pick-a-brick' system. I've put a link to the building instructions in the description for this video.
Dude a lot of them looked like actual action figures not lego
Yeah, they are quite detailed. I normally don't like LEGO sets with a lot of unique molded parts, but when these came out I just had to have them. I also have a larger model of General Grievous which is more of a regular LEGO set. It's not build right now, so I'll have to do that as a video one day. Thanks for the comment!
Top 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! :)
I’m just kidding I already have one of these boys think they cool because I think they only have this
:) There's a smaller version of the ECTO-1 that comes with 4 minifigs, but it doesn't have all the cool play features that this one has.
🫵👍👌👌🤭😝😝😝😝😝
Thanks! 😊
wow cool set
Thank you! :)
Great vid! Looking forward to getting my own!!
Thank you for watching and thanks for the comment! :D
@@brickbuffoon7762 No Problem brother! Keep it up!
Always a childhood fav(temple of airjitsu). First comment!
I have many more Ninjago sets to build. Thank you for watching!
@@brickbuffoon7762 welcome btw do you have ninjago city markets i recommend getting it before it goes out of the official lego store. (Also it is in backorder so it probably wont arrive for 60 days or more). I look foreword to watching more of your videos.😎👌✌peace
I do not have that one yet. I may have to take my chances and wait a bit as I've told myself I have to build what I already have before I can buy anything new, and I have some older Ninjago city sets to build yet (city gardens and city docks). But thank for the reminder - it is a great looking set. I would love to add it to my collection.
@@brickbuffoon7762 Also I have and will continue sharing your channel with all of my friends and family.
@@brickbuffoon7762 I totally agree
I think mouse droids hunt for cheese slopes! 😉
:D
never got the rotating plates tho, if you are chasing a silver Aston Martin db5, would you even look or mention the license plate? it is not a Corolla per say
lol, true, and in the movie Q says "they are valid in all countries'. A pretty neat feat for only having 4 sides.
Thank you for the chilled build experience, it was very enjoyable. Your pacing is perfect, video quality excellent and I picked up some new techniques for a MOC that have been incredibly helpful. 🤓
Thank you so much for the comment! I'm glad you liked it. :D
Best set when I was a kid! Never got to buy it myself tho ;(. No yellowing on your set, amazing 🤩
I've learned my lesson with sets in the past to keep them out of the sun. I have a set that is mostly white and all the pieces turned yellow after about a year on display near the window. This Death Star set has been safely tucked away in a dark basement all these years.
Always wanted this one as a kid. Would love it if they re-rereleased it. As a kid, my favorite section was the detention cell. The forced perspective part always amazed me
I'd like to see more playsets like this. I find a lot of the larger Star Wars sets are just static display pieces which look nice but don't have any functionality.
@@brickbuffoon7762 Exactly! Don’t get me wrong, I love me some uber detailed UCS sets, or even some playscale sets that look nicer than they play, but I feel like a lot of AFOLs forget about the main audience, kids. One of my all time favorites is the 2006 slave one because of its unique display ability combined with all the play features and compartments and weapons
i think i like detention block the most here
me too!
Which scene is your favourite?
The emperor's throne room battle is my favourite!
the hangar bay because of the floor elevator and the blast door
@@chocolate_maned_wolf for sure! there's a lot of functionality just in that room, and it looks good too. :)
Where are you going to display it when you’re done. It’s huge!!!
Good question. It's going to go in the basement, likely on the floor for now - I've run out of table space down there due to the LEGO village already on display. Going to have to figure out what to do for display space in the next couple of months.
That set is huge! Can’t wait to see it work!!!!!
It's definitely one of the larger sets I have. I'm excited to see it running as well!
This is so cool
Thank you! Just a few more videos to go before it's finished and we get to see the motorized functions in action.
It’s so cute. Your sister would love it. 😂
Lol. Almost better than the real thing.
:) I certainly can play longer with this as the ghosts never catch him.
Sure cool Mike!!
Thank you! I had a lot of fun building this set and I often just watch the movement to relax from time to time, lol.
Which character do you focus on when watching? Is it Pac-Man, one of the ghosts, or even the cherries just rocking out in the middle?
I like when your mini figs comment. Really funny.
Ever since I watched The LEGO Movie I always imagine the minifigs trying to talk to me when I'm putting them in weird situations. :)
I have the same problem as yours, when i turn on the walking mode it “clicks” every time it moves. Did you happened to solve this problem in your Set?
Hello! If I place it on a flat, hard surface and turn it on I don't hear the clicks. In the video I'm running it on a blanket and my best guess is the legs are just encountering enough resistance to the motion that the gears are skipping a bit. It is hard to see the internal mechanism moving when it is turned on to verify this. If I take it apart one day I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of wear on some of the gears. Try on a hard surface or even hold it by the handle on top and let the legs move in just air and see if you still get the clicks.
As a rodent lover I approve the mouse droid. 🐁
Some love for the mouse droid! Thanks for watching and commenting. :D
He’s so cute. Plus, I didn’t know you liked tiger icecream.
Very cute! :D And I definitely have some memories of tiger stripe ice cream. I haven't had it in a very long time, but building this set made me think of it again.
Very satisfying 10 part series to view!😊
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I'm sure there will be more multi part videos in the future as I have a lot of large piece count sets, and I have a hard time cutting anything out of the builds when I do the editing. :)
You need to add the polar bear on the side. Hehehe.
Maybe sneakily stealing the fish, lol. :)
@@brickbuffoon7762 I like it!
@@diannemoldowan2602 Thank you :)
Cool
thanks :D
@@brickbuffoon7762 np:D
OMG. That little “poop” at the end was so funny!!
lol, yeah that kept happening during the shoot. Thought I would include at least one time when it happened.
I was going to say 14, so I’ll say 13 pieces left over
we were both too high on this one. it surprised me how few left over pieces there were. If I make enough videos eventually we'll guess correctly.
7 extra pieces
good guess, but a bit low. :)
Where did you buy your bins from and what brand are they?
I purchased them off of Amazon. The brand is Akro-Mils. I just checked and, like most things these days, the price went up a bit.
