MO’s Tropical Wholesale & Deli in St Paul MN
Great variety and selection of vendors, but everything was SO overpriced. $14 bucks for a banh mi sandwich?! Come on, now. The music was too loud, and having it in an open parking lot turned the venue into a heat island oven. Hope you got to check out the Indian festival at the capitol across the street.
Awesome video ❗️❗️❗️ Good job 👍🏻 👏🏻🚢👍🏻
@@kaenga2004 thank you! 😊
When was this? The price of the tacos seemed fine, everything else seems overpriced. 😬
@@juncho1977 it just this past weekend. Aug 17th and 18th. Yes, I like it that the tacos were normal price!
East side. I love east side. Did you stop at Hmong Village? Ha Tien? Speaking of Ha Tien I want to pick up some decent Asian veggies for stir fry. Suggestions for what I should get? I was at the grocery at the Asian Mall in EP recently and was disappointed by their produce. Although on the plus side they sold green onion and jasmine rice for cheaper than Cub.
@@warrenj3204 Hmong Village, grabbed some veggies and fruits. Got my jackfruit, pink guava and found an interesting fruit I might make a video on.
@@warrenj3204 Water spinach is good stir fry. Napa is a little plain tasting but good. Watercress is a good one (more unique taste- kids don’t like it).
I think I'll do the brisket but "make it laab" for $1 since hubby mentioned the flavor of the brisket alone was pretty tame. Then the pork belly but maybe the Korean wings. "Soy Garlic" or "Spicy Soy Garlic"? They just give you regular BBQ sauce no charge? I'll definitely get the pepper sauce of course.
@@warrenj3204 that sounds like a good idea with lab! Hmm.. either chicken would be good. There is BBQ sauce and sweet and sour sauce complementary. It’s in bottle on counter and there’s small containers on the side you put it in.
@@warrenj3204 I think they said they’ll be there tomorrow and Friday from 11 till sold out and then they will be take couple weeks off. Double check if you plan to go after that
Ohhhh BABY that meat looks GOOOOOD! I'll be hitting this place up sooner not later. As soon as I saw the sign for "pepper dip" at 0:12 I knew you guys were going to get some.

Is the local open 24hrs? I watched another video on the bliss and there were no 24hr restaurants. 😢 Im not sure which is accurate???

I see from your receipt you were there yesterday (Sunday) not today. Wow though. Close! Like I said once before ... One of these days we'll bump into each other!
@@warrenj3204 😂😂. I’m sure!
By the way a Chicago Dog ALWAYS has sport peppers. Always. I looked it up on Wikipedia to be sure.
@@warrenj3204 they must have forgotten. I ate too much then realized and didn’t want to tell them.
I had an eye doc appt in Fridley and was headed home when I stopped in. I hadn't eaten lunch. My eyes were dilated. It was a rough drive. 694 was crawling. I took local streets all the way from Pappy's to home in Minnetonka. Took a full hour.
@@warrenj3204 I hope you had sunglasses! 😎 It was a super bright hot day.
I tried that Korean BBQ sauce today. Marinated and grilled pork loin. Tasty! I liked it. More mild than I expected. Most Memphis or St. Louis BBQ sauces have more zip. Nonetheless it was a nice change. I think T might enjoy it too if she ever works up the courage to try it.
@@warrenj3204 nice! Did you add salt and pepper? Maybe add little garlic powder. Maybe add more of the sauce also. Keep adding stuff till it hits your tastebud. Hopefully T will try it!
@@minnesotaphatfoodiesYeah I jazzed it up. We had potatoes on the grill also. I took a few fresh peppers off my pepper plants and charred them on the grill. Then I diced them up super small and mixed them with sour cream to put on the potatoes. Ridiculously hot.
@@warrenj3204 sounds delicious!
I noticed a taco joint in the same strip mall. Also a smoke shop. I also noticed people walking there. Must be some semi-affordable apartments nearby.
@@warrenj3204 I been wanting to try that taco place also. Must be
I adore a properly prepared Chicago Dog. Pappy's did well. Portillo's in Maple Grove was disappointing.
@@warrenj3204 Pappy’s did a good job. Portillo’s bread got soggy. That threw it all off for me. I still got to go check out Franky’s soon!
@@minnesotaphatfoodiesMy problem with Portillo's is the skin of the hot dog is super tough.
@@warrenj3204 yes, I remember now. The skin was tough also.
I had a Chicago Dog too. He asked "You want all the toppings?" I said "Of course!" I got peppers on mine. I also ordered two chicken wings. Quite tasty! Dusted in a dry rub. Lemon pepper I think.
@@warrenj3204 They didn’t ask us if we wanted all toppings. We assume it’s just come with it all. I’ll have to try the chicken next time!
What??? I was there TODAY (Monday)! Same exact location. About 2:30-3:00. When were you there?
@@warrenj3204 lol.. we were there yesterday (Sunday) 630ish. What did you order?
I purchased a 10 lb. box of snow crabs legs for $84.99 last week from Resturant Depot. There were so many in that box, we ended up only cooking half the box and putting the rest in the deep freezer. That was a good price, and they were delicious 😊

Those are young squash. They taste bestwhen a bit younger because you can just chop the entire thing up and fry with meat. The flesh is soft with seeds.
Thanks for info! Yes, flesh was pretty easy to cut. Can’t wait to try more recipe with these!
Maybe it's a pumpkin? The pumpkins I've encountered are hollow inside. Including small little pie pumpkins. That thing you got is certainly some sort of squash though. I generally either roast them halved and then scoop out the flesh or I cut them up into chunks (sans skin) and boil them. Stir fry looks good! I would think the squash would take longer to cook than the pork but apparently not.
I was googling and I think it’s a kabocha squash? Lots of Hmong people call it Hmong pumpkin I think? It didn’t take too long to cook. Probably an extra 3-4 mins once added to pork. It was actually pretty good. I’ll have to try to roast it next time.
You know its called a ship and not boat
@@brianws71 lol.. you are right! When I said the word “boat”.. I knew I felt it was wrong. Ship is best word I couldn’t think of at that time. Thanks for correcting me
We tried the corn turtle chips this year and had same reaction. The kids wouldn’t even eat them
Lol.. I wonder if these have too much msg on them.
I ate my first and last congee at Keefer Court. Didn't do it for me. I also had my first duck egg there. Soft boiled in soup. The duck egg I liked. Huge! Rich!
Why is it your last congee? Must have been bad? You have to try a good one!
@@minnesotaphatfoodies Point me in the right direction and I'll give it another shot!
@@warrenj3204 usually best congee is at a dim sum place. I rarely eat congee because I make the basic simple version at home easily (not as good). I’ll keep an eye out. I know they have good ones. If you like Pho, you’ll like good congee!
As someone who lives in Saint Paul and visited Japan. Getting to Japan was much easier than going to the Asia Mall. But, that doesn't mean I wouldn't mind going back to the Asia Mall again.
@@EqualOpportunityDestoroya 😂 😂😂 It was hard to get in when first open. Everyone was so excited and wanted to all go at the same time. But now traffic slowed down. Hype die down a little. Went this weekend and easy in and out. I’m sure weekday much easier than weekend. But this Sunday was easy. I should have video the parking lot for you! Here’s video of Keefer Bakery: ruclips.net/video/jxEtA7b7hfo/видео.htmlsi=ORjdjW_3WdcAuZlR
@@EqualOpportunityDestoroya there’s a tiny part of the parking lot in the video 😂 You actually see one parking space super close up. That’s a sign it’s not as busy anymore.
I lived on the West Bank back in the 80's. I remember when the original Keefer Court opened on the corner of Cedar and Riverside. I was a regular. I was 19yo when I first went in there. In addition to a bakery they had a small restaurant too. I'd generally go in there and get a noodle soup of some sort with egg rolls on the side. Very good food! They had Peking duck and BBQ pork which you could buy by the pound. They'd use those as ingredients in the soups as well. The owner was a Chinese lady (maybe Vietnamese?) a bit older than me. She would recognize me when I'd go in. I moved out of the West Bank long ago but I'd still get to Keefer Court a few times a year. Last time I ate there was maybe 8 years ago or so. Went back perhaps two years ago but no sit-down restaurant anymore. Just bakery. Seems to be run by much younger people now. My guess is the Chinese lady sold the business to a relative. It's good they moved out of the West Bank. It's an East African neighborhood now. EP Asian Mall is a better bet.
ruclips.net/video/NGR83rXbeuo/видео.htmlsi=mraHA4n2ImN_uQgx Seems like the owner of Pho Mai/Bober/Mochi Dough bought Keefer recipes/name and add it to Asian Mall. I wish I had the chance to check them out prior them closing. Good to compare.
@@minnesotaphatfoodiesThere she is! 13 seconds in. Paulina. I never knew her name. I recognize the owner guy too. He was usually in the kitchen.
You finally made it here! Yeah the noodles are rather soft aren't they? The skinny noodles are more al dente. Yes oily broth with plenty of anise. Sorry it was only a 7.5/10 for hubby. The fridge case is new. Next time I go it'll be for the bun bo hue for sure.
@@warrenj3204 Yes, finally in the area! No worries. Hubby likes his Pho real simple that’s why. That’s why he’ll have to try their special and do regular noodle. Yes, the Bun Bo Hue here is a must try. Don’t need to add much, just little chili oil and lime! I wanted to try everything in the fridge case! You don’t see that stuff everywhere.

@@warrenj3204 He likes the Pho at Mandarin of Brooklyn park and Pho Hoa in Mpls on Nicollet. But I think Pho Hoa is not as good anymore. He loved it in the past.
@@minnesotaphatfoodies I had the pho at Pho Hoa not too long ago. It was decent but not spectacular in my view. Broth was middle of the road. Noodles held up well though. I need to get to Mandarin in Brooklyn Park soon.
