In this update I shall be talking about the new additions in my tank , changers to the filtration system and some algae issues I have been facing .
Any danger of a new video mate?!?!
Could you tell me from where did u get a right size sump tank and what kind of overflow did u use ? Thank you
Spends £10 on a crap heater and £30 on a glass cleaner …… the mind boggles 🤦🏻♂️
What light were you using??
To get the sump level I turned everything off then filled sump 1inch below the sump rim then turned everything on but my water seems higher looking than yours. Have I done it right or should i take water out? My second chamber where pump is, is under water
The water in the top off unit. Is that ro mixed with salt? Iv just bought one and in presses of setting up. Not sure about that or how much water goes in the chamber with the pump
What light do u use?
Does anyone kknow what light that is
What’s that throbbing noise? Sounds like my old lawnmower
not vertical video 👎
beautiful tank. nice. great.
What is the water level inside the skimmer chamber?
Big time overkill on the filtration, for what you have in it.
Is this the 34 gallon
Do You ever need a chiller? No problems in hot summers? Does a chiller fit in there next to the sump?
Do you still use the same Skimmer and reactor ?
Do I sense a scouse accent? I live in Liverpool, just bought a Red Sea Reefer 170. Would love to chat as I’m just in the process of setting it up.
Which lighting do you use ?
Nice setup! Does the green return pump tube come this length or do you have to trim it down?
Angelinabug you have to trim it down
Quick question mate, how much sand did you use. Only asking because it looks the perfect amount.
Great vid.. very beautiful corals and fish..I sup u up.. plz resub thanks will be checking out ur other vids
How much live rock is that
How much lbs live rock is that
How much lbs live rock is that
👍
I disagree there buddy you can get a great skim from the bubble magus you don't need to wet skim at all
Hello how many kg of live rock u have?
Hi , I have about 10 kg . I also use bio media in the sump to assist with the biological filtration
How many kg of live rock u use?
Nice update the reef is looking in great shape :)
How many gallons is that red sea reefer
nice reef subbed
Thankyou for your kind words and subscription
I know this vid is a year old, but if you have time to answer, thank you! What lights are you using (I can't really hear the audio, I'm sorry if you mention it)?
+Lindsay Wessell not a problem . The light unit is a maxspect Glaive LED
Tank is looking good just got my 170 a few months ago still building my equipment, your cyano problem looks like it's doing well. what are you using for a light controller?
Thanks Alan , watch out for my next update which will be about my filtration equipment . May help you decide on a couple of products . This light fixture doesn’t have a controller like some of the more expensive units . It has a controller to adjust the intensity levels and I use a plug in timer to turn it on and off . I will cover the light on my next update too .
sounds good bud, i have a fair bit of equipment now i went with a kessil 360we for light with there controller as for a skimmer bubble magus 3.5 filtration still looking at =/ so will be good to see your next update looking good thou.
Great video Sean. I've just bought one of these, cleaned it out and set it up. I plan on adding water this weekend. I'm a little daunted. I've read forums & watched videos, but actually doing it is a big leap!
the chromis will kill each other until one or two are left. they pick at the weakest and work their way up to the dominate.
I notice your drain pipes are at a 90 degree bend. Have you had any issues with the herbie drain? I have heard it should be straight pipe if at all possible Or at lest 45s
lildeena1 no problems at all . These aquariums run super quite once dialled in
Looking good. Very clean and sleek looking tank / stand / sump area all looks great
It looks great sean! And I agree, we always get bored with our aquascape.
Thanks Matt . I will probably end up changing the scape again in a few months . So I noticed your reefer is no more . How come . You had it looking great
You know Sean, those are great questions. The real reason is that I got sick of my scape. I wanted something that used the vertical space better. I am also going to be gone for most of the summer, and the reefer is pretty complicated to to maintenance on, so I wanted something more simple for my friends/family to help with. I also found that since I had the top end equipment, it allowed for constant tinkering, which I just couldn't stop doing. So, I'm hoping that by simplifying, I will be able to just let the tank be a bit more and focus on the livestock. Breaking it down also gave me an opportunity to finally set up a quarantine tank which I had been dying to do!
where did you buy the sump or was it custom made? thinking about converting one of these to marine just need a bit of help
Steven Mullan I had it custom made to fit the cabinet . It was only small but did the job of terms of getting a skimmer , heater and filter sock onto the system . Cost me about 70 quid from marine aquatics in Walsall. The over flow box is made by tunze and costs about £100
Awesome tank!!!
Hi Sean, what is the total cost for your whole setup?
Hi james total cost excluding live stock , rock , sand is £1000 give or take a tenner either way . With live stock etc it's about £1200
Thanks Saun, what about maintenance time per week? Do you fiddle with this once a week to get your levels right or does it require daily attention? Level I mean water checks and tweaking? Thanks, James
I dose kalkwasser by adding it to my top off unit so that alone keeps the calcium and Alkalinity stable . I then dose magnesium once a week again this seems to keep it stable . I do a 20% WC every two weeks . That's it really . Nothing daily other than feeding
Hi Saun, could you explain a little bit more about your top off unit? And how your stabilising calcium and akalinity? How does that work? Its on an automatic dose? Controled by electric system?
No the top off systems on these tanks is a gravity fed float switch type unit . No power needed . It's hold about 3 days worth of fresh water . When the water level drops in the sump, the float switch drops and opens allowing fresh water to trickle in to raise the level again . So kalkwasser is a powder that you mix with your fresh top off water . It keeps your alkalinity and calcium stable . One of the and cheapest ways to keep things stable
Awesome setup, well done..how many gallons is this tank? And does anybody know about a Red Sea New Nano Max 34 gallon? if so where can I find more info about it. I have looked everywhere online
donnieboy007 thanks . The overall volume is 46 gal with 35 of that being the display tank . What do you need to know about the redsea nano . I may be able to answer some of yurt questions
nice tank. subscribed.
I love the red sea tanks.. might get one.. I just subbed ur channel
i like how u end u vids...👏
nice tank man! i like the redsea tanks so clean and sleek. i'm subbed and waiting on the updates for certain . swing by my reef / channel and let me know what you think. maybe we can help each other out through this hobby/problems lol
I am using a BRS deluxe reactor. I keep carbon and GFO mixed in it. It fits on the side wall right over my sump. I put it there in the event there was a leak it will fall into the sump. My tank is doing very well with it. It's big enough for my Red Sea 250. I definitely don't put out enough videos, just not that great at it LOL. That being said if you want to see what I'm talking about my last video shows it. Either way your tank looks great👍😄
Thanks John , I she just subbed you . Looking forward to watching your vids . I wish I had the 250 . The 170 had its limits
need to speak louder I can't hear you nice tank
John Beltran No shit. Drives me nuts, people go through the trouble of shooting a video talk through the whole FNG thing and can't hear a word they say. We aren't all listening on our home computer with our 350 watt 7.2 speaker system.
Hello what do you mean share reaper is returned as i will bought a reefer 170 thanks for your reply
I was referring to the recent outbreak of Cyanobacteria
D'accord merci
What light is that please ?
reef roid it's the max spect Glaive LED
Sean Collins fits well
Yeah it's a good fit . Not the best in terms of PAR output but it's enough for what I want too keep
