Epic shirt, m'dude!!!!!! Love it 😊
It is deeply funny that T'Lyn's version of helping Rutherford socialize involves standing awkwardly behind him in silence.
I don’t blame the team for working with Raishan, but I also think that Keyleth’s reaction in that moment was perfectly justified. Raishan just threw poison on her head and betrayed the group as she predicted and it would be frustrating as a sole unheard voice in a larger group which I believe echoes the campaign. Ultimately though I think if Keyleth had an alternative plan to offer them, she could have been more convincing. I think adrenaline was just pumping post- the Thordak battle and betrayal.
I like this storyline with Keyleth, they covered a couple of important story threads this way, but didn't they already give Allura the ability to scry last season? I wish they had mentioned why she wasn't able to locate Raishan or even try, it took her like 5 seconds to find Grog, Pike and Scanlan when the other half of the team got back from the fey realm 😅 I do think it's way more effective storytelling to let Keyleth do it, but still, they could have explained it at least briefly.
I don't mean this as a dig or anything and I'm sure you already know but your glasses are super tilted man. Most optical places will usually help with a free alignment Also, love your reactions, recently found you and you rock!
🎉Tendi is back!🎉
So, the cast have said previously that 5 seasons was their ideal goal for LoVM. They didn't know until recently if they would be renewed for a 4th season only, so a 5th is still up in the air. Seems hard to plan/write a two-season arc if they don't know if they'll get the second until the first is airing, so it seems likely that season 4 will be the final season (based on the "cannon" streams, at least) Edit: Unless, I suppose, they gamble on the fan outcry if Amazon doesn't renew before the arc is done to force a final season. A gamble. But I'm not worried; if that happens, they could always just do another crowdfund for another 11 mill, like what happened for season 1.
I could have sworn that they were renewed for seasons 2-4 at the same time, but my memory was wrong. They didn't know for sure that season 4 was coming until very recently. With that in mind, the end of this season makes more sense to me. They played down some of the angstier bits and left everyone with a happy-ish ending with a hint that more adventures are coming in the future that they would team up for again. It could stand on its own as an ending, but still leaves the door open. I'm glad we're continuing, though. I've forgotten a lot, but the things I remember are interesting, and the way they're tying together themes from all three campaigns and adapting the old stuff to mesh with the new is fun to watch. Hopefully it remains enjoyable for newer and more casual fans, too, who don't have that context.
Levar Burton?
Apparently he’s doing the voice of undead Thordak!
This episode did confirm my earlier prediction... Pike does indeed still have "Xerxes" symbol... which is the Whispered One's symbol. Interesting. Just more confirmation to me that the Whispered One may already be working through or at least influencing Pike to some degree, even if it's subtle (for now) Bear with me; Pike briefly had an encounter with the Whispered One all the way back in Season 1 where she was trying to contact the Everlight. At the time it's easy to just say that it's a vision or premonition... but I personally think that really _was_ the Whispered One who had been trapped in the plane Pike spiritually shifted to during her communion. However, due to her faith in the Everlight, all the Whispered One managed to do was basically get a tiny foothold in her soul, not nearly enough to do much of anything, but enough to keep in contact with her... perhaps even subtly disrupt her magic at bad times? How often have we seen Pike struggle to heal her friends in dire moments, even when it doesn't seem like she should be running out of juice since Keylith rarely seems to despite using her magic more overall. Now fast forward to Season 3 episode 4, the group finds themselves in Hell, and who senses her presence and takes an interest? Xerxes... whom we know is a follower of the Whispered One. What does he do? Specifically targets Pike, shakes her faith in the Everlight, just enough to make Pike start doubting again. And once agian, Pike is shown numerous times having a hard time using her magic while channeling the Everlight... then suddenly during the hallucinations the party was having during episode 7 she gets a vision of Xerxes who specifically tells her "Have faith in only yourself"... and boom suddenly she can do blood magic healing. Then in episode 9, in the battle with Thordak, she gets another vision... and throws away her Everlight symbol. It's presented as a badass moment... yet really think about it. This is _not_ a good sign, even if it allowed her to finally use the Plate of the Dawnmartyr correctly... she's still a cleric, she still needs power from a deity for her magic, because unlike paladins Clerics are very specifically tied to gods for their powers. She may think that she's just drawing on magic from faith in herself... but that's not how that works (per the rules at least), but rather she's likely still drawing power from a god... just not the god she might think. The Whispered One is, among other things, a god of Secrets and Deception. It's well within his character to allow Pike the delusion that she's just somehow become a godless cleric out of nowhere, because for him he likely can begin to subtly work on her now that her connection to the Everlight is severed (at least for now), and perhaps the dreams visions and hallucinations she's been seeing have been the Whispered One all along. The Everlight basically telling her "Hey hey, any path you walk is righteous" sounds like good advice from a chill deity... but it also sounds like the kind of "eh do whatever you feel like" advice that might come from a more corruptive entity. Her visions of Xerxes may be more than just visions, but rather the Whispered One toying with her memories and appearing to her in a guise that despite her better judgement she seems to hold some kind of strange respect for. And now, here, in the season finale, we see that Pike still has the symbol Xerxes gave her... why does she still have it? What use does it have now that it's supposed purpose, getting them out of Dis, is fulfilled? Yet strangely she keeps it on her, and doesn't seem bothered by holding on to something given to her by a Devil, and is in the shape of a holy symbol and the symbol specifically of the Whispered One. Or I could be totally incorrect and I am overthinking this WAYYY too much :P
It is another Ziggurat, if you see it again it seems that they are in a more arid place.
Here lies Raishan, the DECEASED Deceiver.
Different Ziggurat from Whitestone and wherever Raishan was.
Keyleth's come a long way since Season 1. She's survived undeath and dragons and giants, passed through fire, went to hell and back, came into her own by following her own path, found love, and soloed an UNDEAD DRAGON by utilizing all she's learned thus far and managed to deceive the Deceiver and kill her with the disease she THOUGHT she escaped.
I didn't realise Levar did the undead Thordek voice! Makes sense though, his daughter works with Critical Role, so likely it was easy to rope him in 😊
Boinler taking the alternative reality pad was because his photo was in it, whereas in the beginning of the episode his pad did not have him in it.
What do you mean that she was dramatic ,Keyleth was right about Raishan for the whole time ,she said that they have stoy vigilante with her and to not trust her but the entire team didn't listen ,Keyleth had every right to react this way
I love your shirtss 😁
The Blue Orions (Ore-E-Ons) are a referenced t' the appearance and pronunciation of Orions in the Animated Series.
Also new in the intro, I loved the addition of V’ger to the battle scene! Between this and the next episode that also dropped, such a fun start to the final fron-er, season. Great to have so much awesomeness from the Tendi clan right out of the gate!
The hand grabbing the Cube is a reference to Star Trek: The Original Series, there's an episode that features one. And yes, the blue Orians are from Star Trek: The Animated Series!
The hand is a directed energy field wielded by the god, Apollo in the episode, "Who Mourns for Adonis?"
That Orian who just wants to dance is so iconic.
Keyleth was not being dramatic. She legitimately felt unheard and dismissed. It’s something she actually had to deal with in the campaign proper, and not just regarding Raishan and Thordak, but all the time. And… this actually gets addressed in the next episode. Also, Stilben was actually where the original Vox Machina adventures began.
I'd say yes and no to the dramatic part. I mean, I get that she FELT unheard, but she actually wasn't. Multiple times, she said no, and everyone else asked her opinion, and they got "I dunno just not this" which is not an idea, it's a complaint with no resolution. That's not leadership or somone people will listen to. It was a problem she had in the campaign too, constantly shooting down ideas with none herself or her ideas ended up making enemies of powerful people like the Clasp. I do like Keyeth, but she very much had to grow into leadership through hard lessons.
I can agree that she was right about raishan but her being upset with the party is unfair. Time was running down and they didn't have time to assess a potential backdoor betrayal. The eggs were hatching and they saw that. They double checked everything raishan said to see if she was at least being truthful which she was and had they not listened to her and got that vestige they likely would have lost. It's been pointed out already but keyleth constantly remarked how they shouldn't work with but offered no secondary solution. She referenced that the options shouldn't be either work with raishan or failure but she didn't have another option to explore nor were there any other plans outside of raishan. When they went up against thordak with the vestiges they had they saw they were still out matched and the only lead they had to change that was raishan. They saw the eggs on the verge of hatching and witnessed first hand the damage just a small clutch of them could do. Were they meant to ignore a dragon with inside info on how to destroy a common enemy in the hopes that a secondary solution would drop out of the sky just in time before the eggs that are already beginning to hatch have done so. I feel like the group did what they could testing her claims even keyleth at the end wanted to apologize to raishan because up untill that point everything raishan said was on the up and up. I don't think it's fair to blame the group when they were all pinned against the wall and she offered no other solution beyond hope.
C1 spoilers re: Kash's fate below: Non spoiler version: Yeah it went VASTLY different In the "post-credits" of campaign 1, it was revealed that Zahra was pregnant with Kash's child(ren) (possibly twins)
15:00- She's been plenty explicit if you know what I mean... ;) (But yeah I get what you mean)
Please! Do not watch and react to the new clip from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that is out today, it spoils too much.
Wasn’t planning on it! Not sure when the new season premieres, but I probably won’t watch anything related to it until it releases as to stay as blind as possible.
Great.
Remember Raishan is dying so for those who dont play DND she took his body because it is needed in order for her to become a Dracolich!!! So you will have her and one of the Devils in hell as bad guys for next season!!! The only other question is ...will there be any good dragons?
Is that stated in the dracolich section of a book? That a dragon needs an ancient dragon’s body to do the ritual.
So this fight really SHOCK us Critters up, Kesh didn't die during the Thordak fight, I can't recall if he even TOOK PART in it in Campaign One, Both he and Zara showed up later in the campaign, so they really have made changes. I'm looking forward to the next three episodes, based on the fact Scanlan's now in a Coma that's a story arc in of itself......
Spoilers: In the Campaign Vox Machina had to go to one of the planes (or hell?) to kill Orthax there to reclaim Percy's soul, so that could happen in the next three episodes or it could happen in a possible Season 4, which going by all reports, is pretty much a certain, being one of the top 10 Prime shows at present.
Hot damn, maybe Raishan is in league with the Whispered One too!
On the wiki it says that Mark Strong plays Trent Ikithon in tlovm. And the appearance aswell as context of the flashback makes me certain that it most be him
LOLLLLL Grief Sex WHAT A WORD
What if Raishan can absorb Thordak’s power?👀👀 I mean she fused him with the soul anchor to begin with, so maybe now that he’s dead she can extract the power from the shattered pieces. She didn’t just say she could do whatever she wanted because the other dragons are dead; she said it because once she absorbs Thordak’s power, she’ll probably be cured and become the strongest dragon in the world
She is going to use his corpse to become a Dracolich!!!
My thoughts on Kash dying: Pike is probably going to resurrect Percy. But Kash had previously mentioned that he knew a resurrection rite (that only works "while the body is still warm," but still). So we need to get him out of the way so that she's the only one who can do it. Also, the way Kash died, with Vax seeing him be taken by the Matron of Ravens, shows what "true death" looks like. Percy's soul didn't cross that "veil." After he was shot, Ripley's gun was shown as glowing for a moment. Which means that Orthax has his soul - it wasn't "taken" by the MoR, so it hasn't left the prime material plane. So if VM can go get that gun, they can use it to resurrect Percy. Finding this out will probably require another direct conversation between Vax and the MoR, and actually pulling it off will require Pike to deal with her blood/whatever shit first. In any case, that's where I see it going.
Pretty sure they’ll make Pike do a Raise Dead ritual to explore her newfound ‘self-power’, with consequences for her relationship with the Everlight and other gods. Or they’ll find something in Raishan’s lair that can bring him back.
It's also very likely the Matron will be only too happy to help. She despises anyone and anything that disrupts the natural order of Life and Death, and Percy's soul being taken by a demon like Orthax would definitely count so the Matron would likely be more than willing to let her champion right that wrong
Kash doesn't die in the campaign so we're all holding out hope that this somehow was just to show how big the stakes are, but it's honestly hard to tell. Its just an adaptation of the campaign and an example is that Archie didnt die in the campaign either, but he was a permanent death nonetheless. He wasn't a character that had much impact, but still it was a change that stuck and we're all scared this is too 😞
So what you are saying is possibly Percy is gone for good
@@thepyro9694 I very highly doubt Percy is, though they are delaying his resurrection compared to the campaign. However they're also delaying the rest of the team going after and tearing Rippley a new hole which happens before Percy is brought back and given the obvious context hint that Percy's soul has likely been taken by Orthax it's very likely they'll need to take out Anna and Orthax in order to get Percy back. The big question is really whether Percy will be brought back before this season is over or if they'll wait until Season 4 to conclude that plot thread.
Kash dying was so unexpected, but it showing that as the raven queens champion that vax gets to see the soul of those who die before his eyes as they look back at the world and their loved ones just one last time before going to the matrons embrace was a nice touch.
I feel like Zarah and Kash had every intention of helping from the beginning, but they wanted to do the "Han Solo" thing and show up to save the day unexpected. Because drama.
Bro you just made a really funny joke when he said dick lightning you reply by saying he always has to cum back
Dick lightning is one way to have a good time in bed
Freed you. Raisin said, "I freed you." Thordak reproduced asexually. He layed the eggs. He is the mom and the dad.
“You know what, Thordak? Go fuck yoursel-“ - “DONT…”
I'm a fan of the animated series, but I never followed the Critical Role Plays. However, after watching Vex and Percy's relationship build over three seasons only for him to permanently die is a huge mistake if that plotline continues. I read that Percy and Vex marry in the play and have 5 children, that's why I kept following the storyline. I'll watch the last three episodes, but if Percy doesn't return at the end of this season, then I'm done. I'm not interested in waiting another 21 months to follow this series if it ends on another cliffhanger. It would just be as bad as Wally West/Kid Flash dying at the end of Season 2 of "Young Justice", and then Greg Weisman continuing to tease fans that he may come back in seasons 3 or 4, but never does. However, showrunners today never give the fans what they want, so why bother hoping Percy returns by the end of this season or the beginning of season 4. Probably won't happen. Just my opinion. I miss the days of my youth when a series would have a season start in September/October and end in March/April of the subsequent year, and the next season premieres that September. For example, a show starts on September 7, 2023, and ends April 10, 2024, then the next season premieres on September 10, 2024. Today we wait 18 months, 2 years or possibly 3 years for the next season. I think that takes away the interest and momentum of the series. Just my opinion. Network TV still follows the formula I mentioned but Amazon Prime and Netflix doesn't.
Losing Kash the way we did was so sudden and unbelievably heartbreaking. I get that they wanted to raise the stakes and surprise the og fans, yet a part of me really wishes they'd picked a different character to do that with. Someone who doesn't have a key part to play in future arcs (eg Cerkonos or Groon). Given how Kash and Zahra were recurring allies throughout Vox Machina's run, this just feels so much more...depressing Honestly, all of my fingers are crossed that it's not a permadeath. I know that's incredibly unrealistic (and quite frankly, desperate) of me to hope, but I'm imagining that Zahra discovers Vox Machina's plan to resurrect Percy. Maybe she confronts them and insists they do the same for Kash since they owe it to him for saving Vex back in season 2?
I think I could live with that haha. But I understand that you can’t just bring everyone back from the dead, otherwise death would lose its significance. 😔
@@spamsir Exactly. I'm sad about it, but I also completely understand why they might choose to keep him dead. That won't stop the eager little fan in me from thinking about how overjoyed I'd be if Kash came back too though
@@sms2131Groon and Cerkonos have shown in C3 already though so while I agree they'd have been better options, they have appeared. However, I'm curious if Vesh will come into play regarding Kash. Massively wishful thinking though 💔
Knowing the Critical Role cast, I'm sure that, if it is permanent, they had Will's permission. So, while I'm sad about it, if he OK'd it, then I can live with it.
@@seansilence2697 oh absolutely. They're all good friends and this is a turn they wouldn't have taken without some kind of consultation considering it is his character and he, if I remember correctly, owns the rights to it in some way. Just like Orion did regarding Tiberius
C1 Kash Spoilerish- Nope. The Kash death stunned me and others who've seen C1. This went very differently.
ive been trying to find out if percy comes back and you just saved my emotions
He comes back in the campaign, but they’ve been heavily letting us know, this isn’t the campaign. The episode literally ends with Matt Mercer singing the words “That’s not how it’s supposed to end”
4:16 Your right on the money! xD xD xD
I really doubt Raishan told Thordak she betrayed him. All she needed to do was say she got 'information' somehow about the plans, no need to implicate herself, and I think she wouldn't have survived if she went up and confessed she'd been playing both sides.
As someone who loved C1 to where I've watched it like 3 times, (same with 2, am way behind on 3 due to health reasons) having finished this batch of eps- I am super happy with the series. It's combined somehow being an old and trusted friend/story and being a new and exciting/emotional experience. These episode was serious emotional damage but in the meaningful sort of way that I like in stories.
Maybe spoilers... . . . . . . . I dont think pike is out, I think she coulnd bring him back because his soul is locked with Orlax and they we'll be back again in hell to get it back
6:58 Kinda feel like even with that I'm sorry its still too late.
_"What was unsaid will remain so. How can I live with that? How can anyone?"_ That was what Vax needed to hear to finally stop running. And boy, am I glad that of all the moments to have them reconnect, it was this moment from the Campaign 1 episode "Dangerous Dealings": "I don't want to be alone tonight, do you?" "I haven't wanted to be alone most nights." Also, damn. That kiss was well animated. She knew what she wanted. Get it Kiki! And Vax didn't fumble for once. Good for him. That said, yeah, this whole season has been a roller coaster. Throw away the old map, we drafting a new one!
