@@loisalove hello that is an excellent question. I would say I spent a good three or four months on lesson planning. I was fortunate enough to be able to have extra hours after school to work on lesson plans to research make new presentations, etc. which helped me a lot in my lesson planning process. I also utilize the lessons that I’ve done previously and made like slight changes or even elaborated more in detail with it to be able to come up with the lessons for the next year. I would also suggest booking up the state as well as national criteria for the subject that you are teaching. I got mine online, which made it super easy to see what points need to be hit in order to meet the standards and elaborate from there as well

@@loisalove of course you do not have to spend as much time as I did. Honestly, my first year was a little bit rocky. I took it week by week and really just observed the students paces as well as their interests which helped me over the summer prepare for the next year. It did help that I was working mostly my second year during Covid so we had a lot that a lot of the classes online which helped me figure out what the kids wanted to learn. Prose your teachers, you can even do a pole or have kids answer something that they’re interested in to help guide lessons and come up with projects that fits the classes interests and it can also help them be more involved.

@@rei.drawss it would be to set up a portfolio for art schools and join online portfolio sessions with your top schools for feedback back. I did a community college which helped me build a portfolio that was art school ready and bumped me up to sophomore year instead of starting year 1 which saved me money

@@vanessavaldez8097 hello, the most I worked hour wise was 32-34 hours a week but I could work up to 36. I worked at a home school based charter at the time and I wasn’t bad. If anything it was more of a struggle because this was during Covid so students had a hard time mentally. It was a reason for students taking more art classes which to me was fun and I felt closer to them and was more passionate about making my class more of a safe place and outlet. I quit teaching to pursue my personal career in illustration for children’s books. I miss teaching at times but I do paint parties and tutorials to help fill in that void

I’m not crying??? I don’t talk much so I get voice fatigue and loose it by the end of the night

Hello, congratulations!!!!!! If anything I would say just be yourself! Being a teacher is a huuugge blessing...I would also say just start the first few weeks with keeping up with structure, classroom management, and routine. Once the students are used to how you teach and how the classroom runs it will make things so much easier for yoh! I know you will do well!
