My name is Collin Pence, and I have a passion for making 3D environments! I have worked on several indie video game projects as an environment artist, as well as at a virtual art department studio, as an environment artist. UE5 scene creation speedrun. The entire scene was put together over the course of 4 afternoons, with the last afternoon being used for rendering and editing.
Lately I've been so focused on, and weighed down by working on portfolio pieces with the aim of finding a job in the industry, that I felt like I was losing sight of why I started making 3D scenes and environments in the first place. The first cut of my cyberpunk environment. Fully traversable at 60 fps with a 3080ti. Created with Unreal Engine, Blender, Substance, Photoshop, and edited in DaVinci Resolve. I'm currently working on a Cyberpunk environment, and this barrier is part of the process! Inspired by the old Cyberpunk adage, "style over substance", the barrier has a screen for some reason, and lots of functionality that is probably unnecessary for a road barrier. The concept that inspired this environment, is the still calmness that comes with the early hours of Sunday morning. Morning cartoons on the tv, cereal on the table, and birds chirping outside. Hey ho, your little tutorial series is really good, but unfortunately it won't solve my problem.... I can't upload anything. I created a Greybox_Map etc like in this video but nothing helped me, not yet. I just want to make some maps for me and a friend, but if we can't play together, it doesn't make sense for me to put much effort into it. I'm really frustrated because I tried to work on a map for over a week 6 months ago and all that work, time and blood is wasted.

Hi, this foreground displacement 6:03 comes only from Gaea mesh right? Heightmaps are only for texture mixing.
The foreground displacement was done in blender, and then I exported the foreground mesh to Unreal, and painted over it with the same material (and disp map) that I used to displace it in Blender. At the time this video was made, Epic games had removed displacement and tessellation from the engine, so I was finding a way around that roadblock. With 5.3.1 however, displacement and tess. is back, and I would highly recommend you use that over the technique I used in this video. Cheers!
what material editing software is that?
Quixel Mixer! Very easy to get the hang of, and as long as you only use the materials and textures exclusively inside Unreal Engine, the software is free!

How did you tilt the lansscape
The landscape is a result of me using a "slope noise" node, along with the "erosion" node, in the landscape creation software Gaea. All I've done is export the landscape from Gaea into blender, and then into unreal.
