Samsung Waterwall Dishwasher Error Code 7e Model DW80H9930US/AA
If you have tried all of the trouble shooting tips from Samsung and other videos and have determined that you need to replace your Spray Arm Motor this video will show you most of what you need to know to do so. I ended up purchasing the Spray Arm Motor Assembly DD97-00216A which also required me to purchase the Motion Assembly DD97-00204C and the Vane Assembly DD97-00206B because the sensor in the newer assembly will not work with the older motion and vane assemblies. I am not an appliance repair professional, simply a home owner that could not locate any other videos on how to do this so made a very rough video with the steps that I learned along the way from trial and error.

Thank you so much, after watching your video, I did not want to take chance any more to change my motor and Motion Assy. I have the same model with your dishwasher. Honestly, you saved me money, regret and time. I was just about to put apart my dishwasher. I did not want to do it because it might cost 70% of the brand new one. It is not worth it. I learnt a lot from your experiences. Amazing video. I will buy a new dishwasher but not Samsung Model. The one I have is 10 years old and this is the second time failed.
Glad I could help. Good luck!
Hi Greg, thanks for the video, it really helped me a lot. What did you do to resolve the issue that was caused by the vibrating noise the vane made as it did not know it's at the home position(I replaced the motor and the assembly, which included the vane sensor), but now I am faced with this issue.
Start watching the video at 24minute mark and you will see the problem and solution
It is appreciated. Awesome video
Mine didn't work after replacing assembly, middle arm that goes back and forth and the water wall
How I fixed this polished turd is zip tie both sides to keep it from falling off have to get the grey knob and red slit cut off excess haven’t gotten a recall.
This one worked for me: ruclips.net/video/P7cr4B482CY/видео.html
Thank you so much! I just changed the motor and it worked! $170.00 after tax
Awesome!
This is a great video but hard to watch in portrait. Recommend landscape for the rest.
For sure Jason. It was my first RUclips video. Had no idea about the landscape thing until it was to late! Hope the video helped out as bad as it was from a shooting perspective!
THANK YOU SO SO much for this video! We used it not only to fix our dishwasher (same one) BUT I could NOT for the life of me remember where those stupid little grey clips went on the middle rack to lock the rack in!!!You are a life saver!! Thank you again!!!
Just fixed this issue today. I had the dreaded 7E code. Washer would run for about 15 minutes and then stop. I replaced the motor assembly (about $115 from www.samsungparts.com/Default.aspx) and placed a rare earth magnet underneath the water wall carriage (the thing that translates the deflector back and forth). The magnetic force is strong enough to keep it in place during a wash cycle. I just completed a successful cycle. Tip 1) To remove the lock ring, use a soft blow hammer and flat head screw driver. Lightly tap the screwdriver against one of the ridges on the lockring and it will effortlessly rotate. From a bird's eye view, rotate it clockwise to loosen and counter clockwise to tighten. Tip 2) The tab to remove the middle tray is very easy to uninstall. Take a butter knife, press down lightly on the upper lip of the tab and push it outwards. Installing it is just as easy. Only light pressure is needed in both scenarios. Tip 3) @25:11 is inaccurate. You don't need to purchase the other two components. These are purely mechanical systems i.e. no electronics or embedded magnets. The magnet trick as described above is all you need to get this washer working again. I took 3 hours to do this job. Would have been 2 hours if I figured out how to remove the lock ring with the hammer/flathead sooner. Thank you Greg Hinermann for putting this video together. Lastly, I noticed that my waterwall deflector is significantly harder to manually move back and forth with the new motor installed. With the old one, I could move it back and forth pretty easily. Just proof that the motor was is culprit.
Good job... Question does your 9930us have a magnet on the movable water wall bar? I am trying to figure if I should order the Motor assy you replaced. I get the 7e code
If you replace just the motor you can use your existing parts. If you replace the motor assembly it requires the newer parts I listed.
Start playing the video at approximately 24:30 you will see this issue addressed.
@@greghinerman217 Thanks for our reply.
The one I I'm working on doesn't have a magnet on the moveable water wall bar.
This was very helpful. Thank you. Mine also did not work after I replaced the assembly but thanks to this video, I just swamped the motor from the new assembly to the old one. Works perfectly now and more quiet.
That's awesome! I considered swapping the motor myself but in the end purchased the two new parts.
This comment from 3 years ago just saved me. I was about to give up and call a repair man when I tried this and it worked!
How much was the part (motor?) you purchased? Same problem here and also at the 5 yr mark. I don’t use mine that much, just a couple times a week at most so a bit surprising that it is failing. I also had not cleaned my filter housing since purchase but it was pretty clean. At this point I’m wondering if this is built in to these products, a sorta fail safe for the company to get new sales. My old bottom of the line GE was still working when I replaced it after 10 years. I’m starting to see what all those bad reviews about the “water fall” feature were about. My Samsung fridge’s water dispenser also failed (within a yr). I don’t see myself purchasing anymore Samsung products since they appear to use cheap parts that don’t last.
At the 25:00 minute mark I show all three parts purchased. These can also be found in the description of the video. You'll just have to Google the parts and get the best prices you can in your area or online.
@@greghinerman217 I googled some and it looks like (now) it comes to $300...we are just going to buying a new one but thanks for making the video.
7E is not fill related that I am aware of. Did you turn the water supply back on after the repair? Assuming you turned it off to get the dishwasher out?
Greg, mine wont work after assembly, era code 7e. no water filling up
Same with me, did you fix it?
Did you find the problem?
Nice video! I wish had seen it before doing mine. I made video with steps as well: ruclips.net/video/IhWYOvQjAaw/видео.html Note that I solved the incompatibility issue with the new motor Part and the sensor by adding a magnet. This caused the new sensor to be able to detect the "home base". I was not sure why this worked, but after seeing your video my suspicions of incompatibility were correct. Best of luck with your dishwasher!
Thanks for taking the time to help others. Our 6 year old WaterWall just started having the 7E issue a few days ago but we've managed to get it to do a few more washes until today. No obstructions or cleanliness issues so it's pretty frustrating. 6 years no issues and now this. It's like a built-in obsolescence fuse blew.
had the same thing happen.. got the code, managed to get a few more washes, and then it finally quit. Best of luck to you!
@@greghinerman217 Engineer coming tomorrow 🤞. Interestingly, it stops after 4 minutes or so on any setting and leaves the waterwall close to the door... but if we do a reset (hold start for 3 seconds) it runs through its 1 minute cycle and the waterwall returns to the back. 🤔
@@flowaski EXACTLY how mine was doing it with the 4 minutes, but mine would actually stop in the front of the dishwasher because it could not push back against the water pressure because the motor was bad.
@@greghinerman217 That is really helpful insight - it must be the issue of moving against the water pressure. Thanks again, that will be useful for our conversation with the engineer.
I have same pb now. I checked the filter, but no obstruction and its clean. After 4 min i start the cycle, him give the code 7E. I lot check inside am not find any. I see the dishwasher liquid soap is still inside, and the arm waterwall is stopped front of the door, am remove the machine to electric power, am re give power, am do reset, am re start the washing program ... but exactly same way him do ... 7E error code. Any of you find the solution ?
