Trish and Blake. I watched Trish’s story on Urban Valor a few nights ago. First up I live in Australia. I was a police officer for 40 years. During the Vietnam War they had conscription/draft in Aust. and I was required to do 2 years regular army service including Vietnam. Like all wars it was pointless. I worked with US Army and had almost crazy USMC pilots flying Iroquois at tree top level while we hung on for dear life and prayed. 2M civilians dead and thousands of military personnel either dead, maimed, or left mental wrecks. Policing was not easy particularly anything to do with children. I think I can identify with your depression, stress, PTSD and feelings of worthlessness. And then I think of you flying one of those magnificent USMC Osprey’s. The constant training and testing you endured to even co-pilot those huge birds is beyond my comprehension. And let’s face it, being a female is an added stressor. But except for Okinawa I gained the impression you had great rapport with most of your fellow male pilots, particularly at Pendleton. I felt your sadness in my heart at you telling of the loss of your great friend and fellow pilot in the crash in California. Nickname ‘Sloppy’ I think. Your story while depressing in part will be uplifting to so many. You are a standard bearer for women keen to be military aviators, sailors, or foot soldiers. You went through so much. But you achieved in 11 years in the USMC what most men would never consider. What an example. And a night flight instructor for junior pilots in the big, eye opening, massive Osprey. We know the military does not know how to cope with personnel who are reacting to severe psychological pain both from the extreme pressure as you were as a senior Marine pilot and the daily worries and fears involving you and your extended family. You have been to hell and back but along the way achieved so much that I suspect you may not fully realize just how proud so many are of you as a person, fighter, achiever, and decent caring human being. You touched me as an old cop and soldier as you opened your heart and soul to the world. May you have a long and happy life and thank you so much for sharing your life and story. Nothing is coincidence. By physics, we attract everything, everyone, ever thought. Veterans to themselves are working out a spiritual need for that experience. Veterans and Kelly to Blake are catalyst to working out his spiritual need for those experiences. Me connecting to Alan drawing me to this podcast of Blake talking about veterans and Kelly is catalyst for me in some way for my own spiritual need. In the end we are here to become aware of that and contemplate within each experience from that perspective, so that we truly do resolve the need of our spirit in this life. 🙏
