So smick!! It will look so mint once it’s finished 😮💨
Please tell me your going to remove the sl tail light surrounds A9x look alike with flares SCREAMS fake with those ugly surrounds
Hahaha I agree! They will definitely be coming off, don't worry about that!
Just found your channel great job Looks great
Thanks very much! Hope you enjoy the rest of the build!
Exhaust fan in the roof 🤠
Hey that's not a bad idea!! I actually hated every minute painting in the new shed haha I do have a spray booth available to me but it was just easier to paint in the shed than load the rotisserie on the trailer again lol
Great work, Dylan! The new paint color looks incredible, and you’re clearly skilled with the spray gun. We're excited to see more updates on the build-keep it up!
Thanks, I'm happy really happy with how it turned out!! The pedal bracket came up great and I think it's the perfect fit for the car 👌🏼
Good stuff Dyl, cheers mate👍🍺
Thanks legend, cheers!
Nice work mate, making it look so much easier than it really is. Ive just finished painting my VG ute in the shed at home so easy to relate. Ive painted my ute VW indium grey from the Golf R, so good chance its actually the same as the Audi colour youve chosen, definately looks the same on camera!
Thanks mate! I've had a bit of practice, but definitely no professional 😂 That would look awesome I bet! The paint code is 6Y Daytona Grey 👍🏻
Looking really good mate👌
Thanks man! Happy with how it's turning out!
PRO TIP. With any of that thick underbody type products, if you warm it up it pours from the can and flows from the gun so much better. You will use a lot less product because it flows so well and get a much nicer finish. We sit it on a little 240v hot plate in winter and even in summer, sit the tin out in the sun for a while. We use this shit every day, so trust me when I say it makes a huge difference. 👍 love the colour, but I hope you are going to do something different and unique from every other A9X for the wheels.🔥🔥🔥
Cheers mate! Definitely not the same wheels everyone else has 🤙🏼
@ if that was my car, that’s the colour I would choose as well. 👍🔥
Love ya work mate
love the series I am doing the exact same build LS swap bought a 2004 Monaro that was a crash wright off so engine and gearbox swap , even though I’m a mechanic by trade and have been playing with cars most of my life a lot of the time have have no idea how to tackle the next problem waiting you give me motivation. Look forward to what comes next
Sounds awesome! It's definitely the way to go, good reliable performance. Thanks, appreciate the support!
You picked the right Bathurst to keep working thru ……watching paint dry would have been more interesting than that race !!!
Yeah you're right! Had to be one of the most boring races to date at the mountain 😴
The dings in the rail , is that because it’s the jacking area usually
Yeah that's right! Over the years people using that and maybe a few scrapes from speed humps or the likes 🤙🏼
Really enjoying the content Dyl, great work mate and please keep it coming. I'm currently building an LX sedan, full bare metal and have the same rotisserie, haven't got the car on it yet but how have you found it? Slightly different but I'd love to belt around the Mountain in an RX3 13b coupe, it'd be fun.
Cheers mate, it's a great rotisserie, really easy to use! The RX3 coupe is a great choice, lots of fun! The noise around the mountain would be awesome 👌🏼
Xu1 my favourite car
Fantastic little things! I have had the pleasure of driving one, great cars!
Back in the 90s I had an LX SS 6cyl & purchased another complete body & SS dash. Stored in my dads shed - my sister got married & we had the reception at home. Dad forced me to vacate the shed for use in the wedding & I had to sell both quickly & cheap as I had nowhere to store cars 😰😰😰
Oh that's a shame, hopefully you can get another one in the future! I guess back in the day these cars were looked at the same as a ss commodore now 🤷🏽♂️
this is precisely why i sold my A9X , everyone wants to tell you about their shite their unckes shite, fkuk your shite, not interested. show some pics maybe ill talk to ya!!!
1 step closer mate, same on brockys. Though I’d love a original HK Monaro wallowing around with no brakes left😂😂😂cheers Dyl.
Yep we're getting there! Oh yeah wouldn't that be a treat!
What size unimig welder you have mate? I have LH SL 4 door about to start the rust removal process myself.. have to say you definitely make it look easy, I haven't done much welding so will be learning as I go..
That's awesome man, I'm sure it will come up mint! I have a Unimig 185, three in one. It is also capable of taking a spool gun for aluminium mig welding 👌🏼
I like watching your kind content. So if you make more, I’ll watch it 👍 I’d love to take a XA 4 door GT around
Glad to hear! I'll definitely be continuing to upload the build. Then after this car I have plenty more hanging around with big plans. That's a great choice! It would be a handful around the mountain!
Xa falcon 2 door John goes as a dream car for Bathurst high school
Absolutely! That was a great era for Australian motor sport!
I'm with you on the Torana, but the 1984 VK Commodore was a belter!
Oh yeah, that's a cracker!!
Great work, Love the hoodie!
Cheers mate, got to represent!
Love ya work mate I was excited to see ya created this channel
Cheers legend!
Hi Dylan, good job, am around the same stage on my build. I have the same welder but can't seem to get that nice sizzle sound on 1mm steel even using the suggested settings, what settings do you use? Thanks.
I play around with the settings a bit and don't really have a set setting. I'll have a look over the weekend and see what I have it set on now and let you know 🤙🏼
@@Dylsshed Thanks mate.
Currently I have my wire speed set at 7.5 and volts at 16.8. That's probably a little high but I was just tacking like you saw in the video. What you might find easier is setting the voltage they recommend and adjusting your wire speed from there. Start with the wire speed slower and slowly bring it up until it's right. Hopefully this helps
@@Dylsshed Yeah I mostly do that type of tacking too, thanks a lot for getting back to me.
Awesome 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant your back mate, soooo looking forward to this build, cheers Mick from Monduran 👍
Thanks 🤙🏼
Great work Dylan, very inspirational
Cheers legend! Thanks for your support!
I don't understand why any power steering conversion is not electric. Why choose to have pumps and pulleys and belts and hoses instead of a simple electric motor.
Yeah it's a much simpler option, I agree! Each to their own though, some prefer the old school way. I do have an electric pump to go on this car though!
@@Dylsshed No not an electric pump.An electric motor that is coupled directly to the steering to give assistance.Absolutely brilliant.Only works when you turn the wheel so it hardly ever has to work. And doesn't suck up power all the time turning a pump.Lighter too without all the extras and plumbing.I would never go back to hydraulic by choice.
I’m planning on LS swapping my LH pretty soon. Do you know if the tunnel is the same size or smaller between the 6 cylinder & 8 cylinder?
I believe they are all the same. Some people talk about having to cut the tunnel to get the t56 up higher to correct the angle. From test fitting, mine looks alright but we'll see once we get there 🤙🏼
Awesome thanks for sharing your content. Take care be safe.
Hows it, Went through all this a while back and just recently sold my four door, 355, 9 inch , muncie LH. brings back memories, cant wait to see it all finished.
That's awesome! You'll have to get another one and build her up 👌🏼
I’m really enjoying watching this as well
@johnszwede8516 thanks mate! It's nice to hear. I'll continue to work on sound and video quality and hopefully make it even more enjoyable 👍🏻
Hey Dylan, as a semi old fella who lived and owned a few SLR’s never a hatchback 😢 I really thought I would easily get one at retirement, oops got that one wrong. Stoked your channel popped up on my RUclips, looking forward to your efforts mate. Cheers ya big ears from Bundy.
@michaelseal9714 cheers legend! Hopefully you get that hatchback some day soon 🤙🏼
All good bro. Look how bodgy my uploads are on hear. Lol. Keep em coming. Sic build mate. Definitely following. Music sucks , painful to be honest
Haha I'm trying to find different music. Bit hard because of copy right laws but I'll get there 🤙🏼
Nice Tori

comment for the rhythms!
She’ll be smick once she’s ready!
Keen to see the next episode and love your little apprentice!
Great info, looking forward to episode 3. Wanting to do the same on my hatch 🤙
Subscribed and keen to follow the journey mate. I need to do an almost identical conversion on my hatch with an LS1 and T56. All my research says that while the conversion kits may bolt up, the drive shaft angle will be unacceptable. I’ve been advised to mod the tunnel and make a custom gearbox crossmember to get the angle right. Would suck if the headers lose clearance after doing this though as they were designed based on the angle provided by the crossmember in the kit. So everything you’re using is from the rod shop?
Yeah Nathan I'm using mostly rodshop but for the box I'm using MalWood rear case and cross member. He's said it will fix the angle. From a visual it looks like the angle will be okay but we'll find out soon enough. I'm also doing away with the rodshop mounts and using rubber as anything else will create vibration.
Certainly keen to see how it goes mate. When I called around asking conversion mobs about that very setup they all had the same opinion on it and were particularly vocal with their disapproval. The only thing they liked was the short extension housing that places the gear shifter in the right spot. I really hope it works well as it would be a lot less hassle. If you’re able to do an accurate degree angle on the shaft when its all together that would be some very helpful info to share.
Hopefully it will end up being okay, otherwise I will do what's required to fix it haha. Yeah the MalWood rear case is definitely a go to. I got the full kit and it all seems like quality gear. Heads up the box needs to be stripped to fit the rear case and shift rod correctly, so make sure you buy that before rebuilding the box.
@@Dylsshedthanks for the tip mate! Really looking forward to learning more from your journey.
Another great episode 👍
How is ur motor/box angle? Looks like box needs to go up higher in the car more
Yeah the motor looks like it's angled back a bit but the box appears to line up well with the diff. I didn't tighten the engine mounts up so that could be putting it on more of an angle. We'll see how it looks once we have the new diff in and drive shaft 🤙🏼
Nice work, hope to see it out and about ❤
Try the stater Motor as mine has f all clearance… and we had to bash the headers
It’s not a Ford but I’ve always liked the LH and LX hatch. Keen to follow your builds👍
Thanks, it's a beautiful car! I will have another episode dropping during the week, stay tuned 🤙🏼
I thought the hatch was from the LX onwards.
Not a Ford but still a nice car mate👍
Thanks! Haha the famous debate, Ford vs Holden. I might have to get a ford on in the future 🤔
@@Dylsshed honestly I like any nice Aussie cars. I have had a couple of nice old Holdens but probably had more fords.
