Super fun off airport desert landing with Marty in the Carbon Cub SS.

A great New Years Day training flight as the airport was dead. The tower ok'd a C11 departer and several full stop landings on the runway. I went back and did some google earth measuring to see actual full stop landing distances and ways to improve. Still learning more about this bird every time I go up.

Great flight in the cub. On approaches still need to slow things down a lot to make for much shorter landing opportunities. Also working on learning to keep flying lower "safely" and spotting hazards and scouting other landing sites.

APPROACH AND GOES IN THE CARBON CUB

Doing some currency flying and crosswind landings in the Carbon Cub. Getting prepped for some more challenging dirt strips. Flying at a major airport forces much higher approach speeds to keep pace with other airplanes in the pattern. However the very short final part of the approach is still at normal speeds. It will be interesting to see the difference at remote fields where their is no traff...

Quick flight in the Carbon Cub to celebrate my 44th Anniversary of being a Pilot. October 5th was my first intro ride so maybe that is the actual date.? However I soloed on Dec 1st, 1980 (17 years old) in Piper Tomahawk 2332K in OH and today is Dec 1st, 2024 (61 years old). My feeling is the day you solo you have left the nest and have flown a plane by yourself and you are in fact a Pilot
