Have not been to Guyana in 30 years. I used to go on business. How much of this is recent? From oil $$. At full production it amounts to a barrel a day per every Guyanese. That would be like Canada producing 38 million barrels a day, instead of the 5 million which we produce. The Guyana oil is one of the highest per capita in the world. Hopefully the wealth makes it through the entire economy. Cheers from Toronto

Hopefully the floods won't be around in June '23 as I will be visiting, after 25 years, from London. Not much has changed since my last trip with respect to the garbage etc. Since 1966 when Guyana became independent the city has not progressed that much with regards to infrastructure in the roads, drainage and the bruk down buildings which are just left to decay. Some of the newer buildings are ok but so random. Let us hope for future progress but I feel this won't happen anytime soon without the passion and love from the Guyanese themselves.

No money handouts or hampers. PPP only throws crumbs at their support base regions and villages.

Well Georgetown has a very old antiquated sewer system that was never up graded in decades. Can't blame the government for this but they can do better with the oil money.

There’s no excuse for Georgetown to become Venice every time the rain falls and the FOOLISH EXCUSES given by the administration just don’t make any sense at all GEORGETOWN IS GUYANA AS NEW YORK AMERICA and the unsanitary health risk and financial losses caused by every flood only shows the INCOMPETENCE and or the INABILITY of the administration to deal with the unacceptable and inexcusable flooding. People is elected to office to find solution and solve problems so stop blaming the citizens and do what you were elected to do. If any administration can’t SHIT THEY SHOULD GET OFF THE SHIT CAN

I guess that all the “oil money” that the government of Guyana is getting is going to “Guysuco” instead of fixing these drainage, permanently.

Do you understand that the city council is a deadbeat group of thieves who has neglected georgetown for many years. Whenever the central government give them money to spend on rehabilitation projects, they spend it on salaries and perks. The PNC considers Georgetown theirs and prefer to keep it a sh!thole.

The Government needs to clear garbage daily from around the market areas. Poor system in GY. All these big boys travel around they should take a model of the places they visit and do things to better the country . No they got Xmas tree lighting and Xmas village, along with Black Friday shopping. Come on clean your City . The City is where tourists visit and this shows who we are. Can someone please help out this situation.And please people you help with your city cause it seems like the President, neither the Vice President don’t care a dam.

People in GY need to be a little more responsible.Come together and get on the Government so they can clear the canals and drains. And the residents need to stop littering your surroundings.Each street should have a village captain and get everyone to have a cleanup day. You may still have floods , but it won’t be that bad .

Thank you to Joseph's family for your video showing us the floods in Georgetown. That's right, do take extra precautions. Floods have happened all my childhood days unti now. But we just have to deal with it and not to block any drainage or dump rubbish in trenches and canals as it will slower the process of the water being subsided. Guyana have too many trenches every where ,plus the trenches are wider than the streets and roads in Guyana living in America there's no trenches ,no gutters here and there , they need to full up a lot of drains and those wide ass trenches ,thank u guys for sharing one ❤
