I'm a compulsive fixer. I like to save money doing things myself.
When it comes to my relationship with cars, let's just say it's complicated. I like cars, but they're so high maintenance and take so much time. Most of what needs fixing is cars, so that's the majority of my content.
I like to share what I learn and I love to be creative, so I share these videos with you. These are more educational than entertaining, but with some humor here and there.

Radiator Fan Control Module 2010 Lincoln MKS (OEM vs Aftermarket)
2010 Lincoln MKS Radiator Fan Control Module Replacement
I show a little of how I diagnosed the problem, and then open the module to see what could have gone wrong.
I'm shocked that the replacement module (that lives on the radiator) wasn't sealed to prevent water intrusion.
I had such a hard time with my video editor on this video. The video editor reverted all the transcoded clips and would freeze trying to re-do the transcoding. I had to figure out how to get around it, fix each clip, and finally was able to render it. So even though this video could be better, I'm afraid my video editor will go crazy again. My desktop PC quit and I had to do this on my laptop (first-world problem)....

2008 Subaru Outback I found this video I hadn't finished editing from two years ago. So here ya go! I thought it was of no great importance, so I forgot about it. But it has some moments I think you can relate to. Spoiler alert. It wasn't the thing on the spark plug. It was the fact that the spark plugs were loose.
Front Crankshaft Seal Replacement
Просмотров 6295 месяцев назад
This is on a 1999 Mercury Cougar 2.5L V6 - the same engine as the Ford Contour V6. Oil was leaking out the front crankshaft seal and dripping onto the exhaust. It was no fun to breathe those fumes. This job isn't very difficult. It just requires a special tool to remove and install the crankshaft pulley. I decided that I was going to use my old crankshaft pulley from the old engine that already...
P0401 Diagnosis

The used DFPE sensor I installed last year failed, resulting in a P0401 code for insufficient EGR flow. Here's the diagnosis and replacement. 1999 Mercury Cougar 2.5L V6. This engine came out of a 1998 Ford Contour, so the procedure is the same.
P0401 EGR flow insufficient diagnosis
Просмотров 3057 месяцев назад
1999 Mercury Cougar 2.5L V6 There were actually two problems contributing to the P0401 code. (Spoiler alert!) 1. The vacuum hose between the EGR solenoid and the EGR valve had a leak. The vacuum leak wasn't audible and that leak threw me off, making me think the EGR solenoid was bad. 2. The DPFE sensor was bad. Even if there would have been EGR flow, it wasn't reading any EGR flow. 0:00 Intro a...

The fuel pump module is necessary so that if there's a crash, it can turn off the fuel pump. It's a safety thing, so don't just bypass it. Replace it if it's not working.

It's a quick brake pad swap, but don't cram the caliper on when the piston boots aren't folding in right. You don't want to tear those boots that protect the caliper insides.

moral of the story, when you grind gears bad things happen so don't do it
You couldn't edit out the Wasted time.sith the struggles?
Thank you. All mine leaked out do to having a hole in the line. I want to try switching it out and not paying $500+ just to replace the hose and fill it back up. But where do you get your oil yo lube it from?
Need to do this exact job on mine, thanks for the video! Super helpful.
Thank you for the video you make me understand thank's again🙏
Awesome, and easy to follow along with. You speak clearly and don't jump from one part to another without explaining what you are doing. Thank a bunch!!!!!!!!!
F this…🤣 Thanks for the warning!
@@loveandbaconbrian1901 Love it! Thanks for the laugh!
I have that issue, I have to come to a full stop to go into 1st gear, I have to go very slowly into gear, and as you can imagine sometimes you can't really stop (lets say a steep hill), is there a way I can stop the grinding, 1st gear syncro is totally gone. I tried double clutching, but I always seem to scrape it.
PRO TIP; the unlock actuator is what opens the door the handle is just a retainer and lever. Hold the broken handle halfway out and pull on the unlock actuator and the door will open. Ford made it cheap but they sure didn't make it unsafe.
I was literally going to do this because I thought the part was going to be expensive, but I searched for the part on ebay and it was only $7 shipped. They're probably cheap because they break so frequent based on the searches I have done. If the part wasn't so cheap and a safety concern if I ever let a family member borrow the car, I have just used the method you mentioned
Thank you very much,it works great!!!!!!🙏🏼😊
Thanks for helping me identify this noise coming from the front of my 2013 Ford Edge AWD.
what’s the name of the tool used to remove the knuckle bushing?
@ 4:40
Umm you know you totally bled the coolant wrong right? You want to put a clear hose on the bleeder you opened and run it to a funnel that is sealed to the radiator opening, then put heat to "off", start car, and hold at 2000-2500 rpm, keep filling the funnel as needed (you may need help or use a board to hold gas pedal to correct rpm) this does take a while but you will get all of the air out this way. I have a feeling there was some issues after the repair, with possibly no heat in car and or overheating. Maybe you got lucky, but these 2GR-FE engines are a challenge to bleed. ok have a good one.
Great video
Have this job sitting in my driveway right now for a customer. Thanks for video it convinced me to bail on this one. Also a set of quick struts to be done. Easy money beats throwing your nuts in a blender every single time.
Music did not help
Dude,, the temporary drain stop was genius! (I would have stomped asl the way back to the tool box 😂) And ratcheting the motor out of the way!! I enjoyed the entire video and gathered the info I needed before tackling my 2014. Thank you for posting.
Accidentally grinded 1st gear 3 times on my new car. Is there any point of concern?
No.
Thank you John, going to do this replacement now. 😺
Job went well, thanks for sharing your knowledge 😄
Appreciate it man
The material on the desiccant may be from early compressor failure.
Hey, great production. Thinking of doing this with the Banks oil cooler, but have to admit the limited access is intimidating. Some of your process will come in handy. Regards!
Your video is great. My question is when you put it back in the 2nd time did you install it with the coolant pipe installed? I got mine apart and just getting ready to install mine. Is the stud on the water pump E8 or E9? Also on the elbow putting the gasket in, did you put it in after the cooler was loosely installed? Thanks
Damn where is the muffler?
Do I gotta get an alignment after?
Great job!
I’m always impressed by your troubleshooting skills!
At 1:30, what "part" is that plastic piece that is clearly broken on the lower left part of the handle? I need to order this part.
The whole handle comes as an assembly.
@@jtandrews3 🙂
thanks for posting! How long did the whole process take, or how long would it take, if you were not making a video at the same time?
Got one done thanks to this video. Thanks!!
Will it grind randomly when not changing gears? Trying to dianoise a grinding sound, I've just had a new clutch & it's very loose & I do get a tiny grind changing gears some times but also when I'm not.
Are all bolts and nuts 15mm?
Are you working on a manual here in the video? Is the procedure the same on both the an automatic and a manual?
@@jerrutherford5148 This one had an automatic transmission. The timing belt service will be the same if it had a manual transmission.
@@jtandrews3 thank you, I seen in a 1A video their kit came with some kind of alignment tool for a manual but I havnt found any good videos. Or any reference to where I’d need it. Does your screw driver and flywheel trick work on a manual as well? Appreciate the the video and the feedback back
Really appreciate the effort you put into this. Got my old pump off. So far so good. 👍
Great video! I just changed my power steering fluid on a honda element. I'm not sure what happend but I'm no longer getting any air bubbles and my outlet hose from the resevoir is crushing with air after running for 30 sec or so. I can hear the suction as the engines running coming from the resevoir side of the hose. Eventually the resevoir will overflow if level is topped off. I'm hoping I didn't burn any components. Cars off the ground. Was rotating tires with car off, then on. Wasn't driving around town tearing up the pump. Any suggestions what I can do? Did I just not get all the air out of the system..
New manual driver here. Just happened yesterday. Darn
dude, you need to hit that knuckle like it owes you money. you where just tickling it.
Good video! My car is 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS, currently at 125k. About a month ago it wasn’t blowing cold air so I decided to use one of this refrigerant cans and accidentally put to much in the system. Had to take it to a shop so they evacuated the whole system, changed the expansion valve and refilled it. It didn’t seem to work cause a/c was working but not getting cold air as it should. Now I’m having this issue with my RPM at idle when the A/C is on. It also have this little noise coming from the blower motor, but it only seems to happen when idling. Car runs smooth, but at red lights or stop signs RPM goes down and it becomes shaky and then this noise from the blower motor comes out (it only happens when a/c is on). Also replaced the throttle body, coils, spark plugs, MAP sensor, PCV valve because of this rough idle, and right now IDK what else to do with this. Dealer was asking for $550 for just a diagnosis and I don’t trust them anymore, so I’m running out of ideas
@@thatboiiraw First thing I'd check is the idle air control valve. The A/C does put a load on the engine, so idle fluctuations are normal, but it shouldn't seem like it's about to stall the whole time the compressor is on. Also, the radiator fan should also come on while the compressor is on.
On 13 flex does it take 3/8 ratchet for plug?
Good content!

What model Autel are you using? I have the same problem with my 2018 Chevy Duramax and trying to clear the infamous 75 miles until 55MPH. Do not have any codes now but still have the emissions message.
Thanks for video, but i was wondering why there is little hole from the top of the pipe ( in the metal ) ?
Now I honestly see why y'all charge so much for labor a car is such a complicated system I'm currently having trouble with my Buick rendezvous 2004 it's been overheating for a good 2 months now I guess I have ride too long too far while it over heat that it not simply stopped running after 10 minutes of driving 😢 went to a neighborhood mechanic either he wasn't sufficient or my car was just literally a major headache I'm guessing now it's considered a blown head gasket so now I'm just simply trying to weigh out my options should I get a new or should I invest in this one get it back up and running the prose is that it's my first car and I have got comfortable with it and the insurance is fair but on the other hand it's causing way too much trouble a serious question do you think it's wortg getting it repair knowing that the gasket is blown? Or should I cut my losses
I have a 10 lb Sledge with a 12-inch handle. Because of its mass you only have to take a small stroke to make the metal sing. Because it's the vibration that causes the separation of the parts. That comes from an auto mechanic who has been working on cars since 1963. And I love physics. Give it a try next time. Great video
We've replaced 2 NOX2 on our 2017 Silverado 2500HD LT 6.6L (say that once fast) and it just keep saying LOST COMMUNICATIONS. Chevy should be required to replace all of our CHAFING wire harnesses (if that's what is causing that error).
Mine only got out with the ball joint bushing, I had to buy a new bushing, the old one was really stuck
