Sure those aren’t the cocoons of tiny parasite wasps? I think they hatched, ate their fill, and are waiting to hatch out of those as new wasps.
But most moths and butterflies are only sexually mature at the butterfly stage. I was actually thinking it might be some dort of camofage.

Don't kill it! Let the parasitic wasps hatch, and take care of it themselves, they are very beneficial.
Not a good option, that one worm will devour the entire plant in 2 days or less. But you can feed it to chickens or ducks

Those chickens loved that worm!!! I was growing my tomatoe plant. It actually got so big. And came home from work and seen it was broken😭😭😭 and then my dad said he was weed wacking and wasn’t even paying attention until it was already gone😭😭
Awwww I'm sorry that sucks. I have like 40 plants. One got weed wacked today too. And the storm that blew through messed up a few 😢

We have no idea why she was attacking the baby. I had heard a weird sound from up the road when I was taking my evening walk. We tried to scare her off to give the baby a chance after she pushed it into the water.
