One of my favvo songs by R. Barone. Have been listening to The Bongos since the single The Bulrushes came out. Love this album primal dream. River to River is really a great track. A beatiful song and video. I noticed the cd has an bonus track. And I’m happy to have both the cd and LP. ❤️🤗

Wow, Richard! I first heard "Drums Along the Hudson" in '82 or '83 and have been a fan of your work since being charmed by that album blaring from a college dorm room here in Middle-America. Through The Bongos, the great solo work (both 'Cool Blue Halo' live albums are still simply gorgeous and moving!), your memoir, and now THIS great cover, you never disappoint. Just wanted to say that your music is a part of my life and is engraved in my soul. I am so glad you are still around and making music that you, and of course, WE love! Thank you so much...for all you have given us.

Boston, MA -- c.1990: Can't remember exactly when it was that year, but I handed over my ticket for the ceremonial turnstile tearing. The headliner could've been Richard Thompson or Crowded House or Squeeze or The Replacements or The Smithereens, etc., etc. I don't remember. But we did arrive early enough to catch the opening act's entire set. "Who's Richard Barone?", I asked my friend. "Pretty sure he was frontman for The Bongos. Gets played a lot on college radio -- " House lights down, a "woo-hooo!!" or two echoing off the many soon to be filled seats of the musically insouciant foot-draggers. Then. The opening downward slope of notes...cat-on-a-ledge urgency of "Before You Were Born", and I swear that a steady flurry of Manna for Eardrums had begun to miraculously appear and fall from the PA speakers just below the Orpheum Theatre proscenium's cross-arch. Richard Barone was touring to support his magnificent new solo CD, "Primal Dream". I distinctly recall a beautiful, charismatic man playing his music with an effortless elegance. Caught his next Boston tour stop a few years later, in support of the even more spectacular "Clouds Over Eden" CD. Not long after, while living in Manhattan, I was able to see Barone play in the far more intimate surroundings of the memorable Fez, downtown. Thank you, Richard, for gracing my ears for so many years with your consistently gorgeous music. And please consider coming through Boston proper for a weekend or two of club dates (w/ full band...cello, perhaps?). Greatest hits live... Just putting it out there. >>S.
