DIY Record Cleaning Machine
My DIY record cleaning machine based on the "thread buffer" concept, originated by Percy Wilson and sold commercially by Keith Monks and Loricraft. A vacuum pulls contaminants and cleaning fluid off the record surface through a narrow-diameter nozzle. The nozzle concentrates the vacuum to a tiny area for maximum pulling power, and is buffered from the vinyl surface by a thin thread. The thread is pulled through the nozzle/tubing and deposited in a collection jar along with the junk sucked up out of the grooves.
My version was inspired by numerous other DIY efforts. In particular I'd like to acknowledge the work of Audiokarma member "edd9000":

what type of Vacuum motor did you use?
Hi, what material it is from nozzle and where are you buy?
DIY??? Doubtful..........
кто нибудь обьяснит что это
rube goldberg of record c leaning machines,jk
Tittle should be demo not DIY..you did not show how to make nor do anything you twat. Miss leading
Jesus, the only "twat" here seems to be you, you whiny useless prick. Yes it should be called DIY, because he built it himself instead of paying someone else to do it. That's the fucking meaning of DIY. It's NOT titled "How to build a DIY record cleaner", but he did give you a fucking link to the forum where he said he got most of the info to build it. He showed you video of it working, explained what was going on, showed footage of the interior mechanisms. Want him to wipe your ass for you as well? PS....maybe you should focus on your spelling, "Miss"
@@dang2443 Pity he didn't make a mouth cleaner.
Hi this Record Cleaning Machine is fantastic. My compliments. For the automations did you use Arduino? Do not you have plans to make it? It is really very interesting
How much would one cost if you received a request to make another? Timeframe? Thanks.
Hi Bongo- Thanks for your interest, but unfortunately I'm not in a position to make this a commercial venture. (I wish I were! I didn't know this project would generate so much interest.)
Amazing !! Especially the automation and that it can be set for different disc sizes! It seems to work at least as well as the original! I want!!
Thanks for your kind comments Trond!
Amazing machine!!
Thank you Charles!
its amazing and i'm also interested in in records please can show how to make it and about the program
Hi Kanishka- I wish I had documented the design and building of the machine to share as a tutorial; but unfortunately I didn't have that kind of foresight. The Arduino sketch itself is fairly simple and uses the VarSpeedServo library to slow the arm's travel. I had the case parts and platter laser cut for accuracy. The mechanical parts and servos were from ServoCity; and two cheap 12VDC vacuums from Sparkfun run in parallel to provide the needed airflow and vacuum pressure. I'm sorry I can't provide more detailed instructions. If I build another one (a friend has expressed interest) I will certainly document the project to share!
thank you and waiting for a great and valuable reply from you
amazing‼︎
Thanks Yuji!
