Well, okay, to be fair. I think the idea of Mari is the antagonist. The memory. So, in a sense, yes, that is Something. However, that does not mean it’s not her that plagues his thoughts and emotions. I don’t blame Mari for what happened, but it still happened. And yes, you could consider those antagonists. Since people seem to have a hard time understanding this… why don’t you look up the definition of an antagonist? What does it say? This whole thing would not exist if the whole situation with Mari did not happen. I never said he doesn’t go to her for comfort. And I never said he doesn’t care for her. Just because her death caused hallucinations does not immediately mean that I think she’s evil. I definitely disagree with you on the villain part. Mari is not a villain. Just because she had “one single outbreak” does not mean that the rest of this didn’t follow it. There can be multiple antagonists as well. I just happen to think Mari is a big one. Perhaps not the living version of herself, but the memory.

And sorry i have to say this… I disagree with labeling Mari as an antagonist. While she may have contributed to Sunny’s emotional struggles, she wasn’t actively opposing him or causing harm with malicious intent. Calling her an antagonist feels like blaming a mother figure for being in your way, which doesn’t seem fair. The conflict in Omori is more about Sunny’s internal guilt and trauma, not about a traditional antagonist creating direct opposition. Mari’s role is more about being a reflection of Sunny’s struggles, not a villain.

@@chaken6187 Interestingly enough, there is a difference between blaming someone for something and someone actively opposing someone. Just because it was not malicious intent, does not mean it did not happen. She is one of the antagonists of the game because the entire time, that is what is opposing us. Is it Sunny's mind doing most of it? Sure, but the idea of her is the one being the antagonist. I don't think this is all Mari's fault; I think there are parts she could have done better, but I don't think it's on Mari. You can be the antagonist without meaning to be. That doesn't make you a bad person. It just means that in this narrative, you are the one that is actively driving the story forward by opposing the protagonist in some shape or way. Think about it this way. L is the antagonist of Death Note. Light is the protagonist. Do you think Light is a good person? Do you really sit there and believe that we are on the good side of that narrative? No. Just like being the protagonist doesnt mean that the character is good; alternatively, being the antagonist doesn't mean you're bad. Also, in case you need a refresher... I don't think Mari's the villain :). I think she's the antagonist. But thank you for your comment, it's interesting to see different views and different opinions.

@@viperizer0 imo, L is not a traditional antagonist. While he opposes Light, his goal is to stop Light’s harmful actions, not create conflict for its own sake. He’s more of a rival, not a villain.

That may make a lot more sense. It’s a pretty touchy subject these days too so I’m personally nervous on how that would be reacted to if that were the case.

It’s so nice to see people caring so much about rise splinter and giving his actions and behaviors different thoughts than just, “he’s a bad father”. Because, let’s be real, no father is going to be perfect and is going to do things that aren’t good for their children. They still love their children, but in Splinter’s case he never even expected to have this responsibility put onto him in the first place. He kind of became a father out of nowhere and already had a lot of issues with himself that he hadn’t sorted out yet. Also, yes, I totally agree that I love that this show tackles some of the mutations not liking their new forms. Dysmorphia is a topic that one has to be careful about because if they do it wrong, it ends up just plain insulting ngl. I’ve always felt kinda bad for meat sweats as well. This just might be my soft little heart speaking, but sometimes things happen to villains and I’m like… well did they deserve it? Maybe. I definitely agree! I wanted to talk about the both of them because it showed their relationship a little better... which is something we don't get to see very often, so I was glad for it! But yeah, I definitely agree that this was an episode for Millie! I'm really hoping she gets more in the future because I thoroughly enjoyed it!

That's fair! Personally, I see a difference in not being close to each other and not liking each other. You can really like someone but not be close to them. Also, there was an episode planned that went back and explained that something happened... Okay. So I feel like I need to clear this up a bit. I kind of was meaning the thought of her and the guilt of her. I know she isn’t like physically there opposing him, but she is an obstacle that will always be there for him

@@viperizer0 Omg I feel like I should do the same, because my comment really felt like I was saying "Yeah Mari isn't here so she can't be a villain" What I meant (or vaguely implied, rereading it) is that the guilt of killing her isn't about HER, but about Sunny. So basically Mari's death isn't the antagonist, but Sunny's guilt for HIS action leading to her death is. Also, the thought of Mari isn't an opposition to Sunny, as headspace Mari is at no point (iirc) bad to him. Also, the title is a bit clickbaity because antagonist and villain are not synonyms. Even if Mari (or Something or Hellmari or whatever) is an antagonist, she still isn't a villain

@Chaki21 Yes, it is a bit click baity, but I also do go over in the video that I think there’s a difference between a villain and an antagonist so it’s not like I don’t mention it at all. But I completely understand!

@@SaiyanPrince7717 Hate to disagree, but she’s a child for a majority of the show. :). A teenager. A teenager who has expectations on her from a young age. Not only that, but some people are just brats in their childhood. So you saying that she’s always been unlikeable puts a sort of, “kick me” sign on people who relate to her. Because you’re saying those people are unlikeable just because of their worst moments and issues. ALSO, it is so funny that you bring up her “playing” when she is queen. But I want you to take into consideration how fucking scary it is to be thrown into power, ESPECIALLY power to that level… so fast. At such a young age. Actually, she did apologize at the end of the episode in princess prom to bow, so nice try there. She does care about her responsibilities, but she is literally afraid of them because the entire kingdom literally rests on her shoulders. You try losing your mother then ruling a kingdom. Tell me how likeable you are then. I’ll wait :).

@@viperizer0 Glimmer is low-key annoying I'm open to hearing everyone's opinions, I just wanted to express how I feel about Glimmer in particular. I personally just find her personality annoying. She mostly seems to cause problems/is easily manipulated. Example, with Double Trouble/Catra, Shadow Weaver, and when she refused to listen to the advice of her friends on multiple occasions. It wasn't until the very end of the series that she actually learned to control her impulsiveness, and that was only because she basically almost ended the entire world. This is NOT to bash on Glimmer or people who like her character, I just want to have a discussion about her arc/personality and see if anyone else feels similar. Or do you want to ignore the fact that Glimmer treated her own mother like crap.

A lot of teenagers ((hate to say it, but particularly girls)) have what seems to be a “rivalry” with their mothers. It’s hard for me to hate her when there are so many girls who did the same. 😭. Now, why does Catra get an excuse but Glimmer doesn’t? Is it because Catra is a character you vibe with? That’s something that always makes me laugh. Glimmer mirrors Catra, in a sense. She may not treat her mother the best, but, once again, she is a teenager… one who has been brought up as royalty her entire life. Oh no! She’s easily manipulated! How could she! Seriously though… that’s an interesting reason to gripe about her in my opinion… because how dare she be gullible…? 😭 Once again, she lost. Her. Mother. Like, I don’t know how to explain that to you anymore than that. As a person with extreme emotions, and sees red when things go wrong… I kind of understand the mistakes she made. Do you not realize how bad she feels when her mother dies about how she acted around her? She never got the chance to grow out of that like other characters do with their parents. I apologize for getting snippy in the first response. However, when saying a character is annoying, you have to realize that there may be people out there who used to be like the character. I understand that you are allowed to have your own opinion and your own visions… but when I relate to a character someone is talking down on, I bristle 😭

@@viperizer0 Catra is a better person than Glimmer. Catra is nothing like Glimmer. Catra loves Adora. Catra grew as a person Glimmer did not. Glimmer sided with Shadow Weaver, a pure evil narcissist, who abused and traumatized Catra and Adora. Glimmer doesn't understand the hell Shadow Weaver put Adora and Catra through. Glimmer treated Angella like crap, betrayed her mother's trust, proved to be disloyal to her mother and friends, tends to be manipulative and controlling of Bow, treats Bow like a slave, lets her emotions control her, and does things out of spite. Catra did bad things yes because she was hurting and Glimmer is just a selfish pigheaded brat and an emotionally stunned child. I'd say Glimmer hurt Catra and Adora bad by siding with Shadow Weaver as well as Angella who actually grew as character like Adora and Catra.

Of course she doesn’t understand what adora and Catra went through. It didn’t happen to her until she was at her lowest moment. SHE WAS MANIPULATED BY SHADOW WEAVER TOO. Like, do you not understand how hypocritical that is to say? Secondly, the part with bow being her slave makes absolutely no sense to me. That is… definitely not the case and I’m trying to remember if we watched the same show. Yes, she could have acted better to Angella. But you are just reiterating the same point over and over again instead of stepping back and looking at it from the outside. Of course she hurt Adora by siding with shadow weaver… she was at her lowest point when her MOTHER DIED… and shadow weaver came to save the day. Shadow Weaver may not be a good mother figure, but that was the closest she had at the moment. Also, even though she did hurt them and did betray them for shadow weaver… she really did think she was doing the right thing. Yes, she has an issue with wanting to be in control of things. I will admit that. But characters are allowed to have flaws. I don’t agree with you on the point that she doesn’t grow… because she does grow. Admittedly, the show likes to spotlight Catra and Adora more, so there probably wasn’t as much as was needed… but I really can’t sit here and hate her after she thought she had no parents and felt like her friends were all against her.

It’s about them as a family and that is something that just speaks so loudly to me and I will always appreciate that.
