Why YOU should use a drywall/plasterboard SEALER before painting & decorating
Просмотров 16 тыс.Год назад
Preparation of any surface prior to decorating is the most important part of the job but so easily overlooked by the home DIYer. It’s so important to either use a sealer or primer on bare drywall/plasterboard. I’ll be using a sealer from Zinsser called Gardz on my walls as I will be specifically applying lining and wallpaper. In this video I’ll be giving you the info you need as to why to use a...

Bottom shelf just creates a mouse utopia. The floor serves as an adequate bottom shelf for things immune to moisture damage (plastic bins) and a superior "shelf" for extra heavy items.. Also, if 2nd from top shelf is placed at 38-44 inches, (depending on user height) it serves dual purpose as a stand up work bench. Equal distance between shelves is not necessary.

Does a paint primer also work as a sealer? I am now at the "too late" fase, where i took down the wallpaper and have now raw drywall, not skimmed, from the previous renters. What should i do?

Hi I did a jointing compound skim followed by a mist coat. I have then done 3 coats of a dark coloured clay paint. This is how I have handled gypsum skim coats before and its worked.... However, I have found quite a big difference in the colour of the cutting in paint to the roller paint (not every wall evertime) so much so that I bought more of the top coat (£££) and went again. If anything it is now worse. I am wondering if its not priming? Can I now prime with gardz over the top of the paint, and then simply paint again?

Might i suggest the old school alternative that seems to be more bulletproof. Unwaxed shellac to seal the wall, then prime the unwaxed shellac with oil based primer. The oil primer gives off a lot of odor while it dries but let me tell you nothing will get through that shellac layer.

I've been told new builds are no longer getting skimmed with plaster over the plasterboard. I've just stripped back an old edwardian terrace and will be in the process of plaster-boarding shortly, given the labour required to plaster/skim the whole house i was wondering what your thoughts were on whether its worth the money to get it skimmed or whether sealing and painting straight onto plasterboard just does the job and saves a bunch of cash?
