Granville Bridge Bus Detours
The eight lane Granville Bridge opened in stages in 1954 to replace an earlier swing span bridge. It was to be part of a freeway network that was never built. It is now being reduced to four lanes of traffic, with two for bicycles and pedestrians. At the north end demolition is required to create a new intersection with traffic signals. This required detouring transit routes onto adjacent streets to use Howe and Seymour ramps. Advance turn traffic signals have been added to speed up traffic.

Wellington Trolleybuses (SYSTEM TERMINATED - 31 OCTOBER 2017)
You're set up was a lot different than mine. I just did the way my mother did. She would wring the washed clothes into a tub of clear clean water and then swing the wringers around and wring the rinsed clothes into a basket. Then they were ready to go on the line.
I don't understand why you didn't do the light colored clothes first. I always did what first and then the medium colored and then darks. That way I didn't have to draw more water from the well.
Where can i order parts for mine? I need rollers.
I remember the old #15 Cambie - Tenth & UBC used to be on the Granville Bridge
everyone here should wait until SUMMER (June-July) to see how busy the 2 really gets.
they should have ran those artics on the number 2 there are more bus routes that need artics like R1 for example the wait times have gotten more on the R1 because or the R6 idk what translink is doing but they should be focusing more on routes that actually need the XDE60's
Dope 😎 what do you use to film?
Putting the articulated busses on the 25 would’ve been better imo. That route is in desperate need of an upgrade for years now and is consistently overcrowded and passes up people all the time, because they use the 40 foot busses
People don't have winter tires.
When there was snowfall, the 26 only had 2 buses running on it.
Not quite as much as North Delta, but bad enough. Stay warm.
Are the 60 ft. buses even necessary for that route?
We need the `Macdonald Express `back during rush hours
5:02 They need to put seats in the separator part of all articulated buses now!
Where I live there were Crown Ikaris articulated buses in the 1980's, They did not work out well mechanically and were not good in winter on slick streets.
Didn’t think the 2 had the ridership for artics, but I have been seeing other strange assignments in your area like artics on the 7. Also nice picture of 3405.
Depends on time of day.
It runs on both artics and 40 foots (i think)
I've visited Wellington and while I do think it was a dumb decision to completely get rid of these things, the removal of the overhead wires allows for electric double-deckers to operate. you win some, you lose some
Wow what ever happened to this bus? Was it donated to the local transit museum agency? I don’t see it as of 2023 on their vehicle list so I’m guessing it belongs to another museum now? Regardless what a beautiful Trolleybus and very iconic to use the GM platform for the body. It’s a shame Edmonton got rid of their trolleybuses cause, if they upgraded their network they would have already had a large fleet of clean emission buses.
I can't understand why people don't RINSE the clothes IN the washing machine, that's what the design is meant for. After the washing cycle, drain the dirty water and refill with clean water. To just swish clothes around in a second tub isn't really rinsing them well. Awesome machine though I love it!
Looking fantastic!
Always good too see the trees in bloom in my old neighbourhood. Bonus of one of the oldest remaining buses in service.
Where can you find a museum of this bus when is 70 years
🎉🎉🎉🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
A unique Ford Thomas ex school bus driving the rails
Why they closed it?
So, in summary, they’re ditching a functioning, modern electric bus system (which presumably is already paid for) in favour of diesel buses as a stop-gap before replacing those with a different electric/hybrid bus system. Is that more or less right? And they’re doing this in face of the world trend towards greener transport. Someone’s making money out of this.
Brings back memories of using these.
That was very interesting
We still use it to this day to wash our clothes
Ridicules getting rid of electric buses in favor of polluting diesels
Terminated ?? Big mistake !!! 😡😡😡😡😡
How long was each cycle? How did a person know how long to keep the clothes agitating?
Whats a matter with you did you ride a short bus or long bus to school?...
I just watched 1907 Vancouver streetcar...we have refurbished streetcar still running here in San Francisco made in Philadelphia.. ruclips.net/video/YTE0OTVOnZU/видео.html
1:31 wow the streets haven't changed too much around there
interesting...
That bus looks really nice!
i'am still traumatized.
My grandmother had a square shaped Maytag with rounded corners when I was a kid. I loved watching her put the clothes through the wringer.
At the time this was seen as a pretty strange decision, but now 5 years later with all those hideous wires gone and the majority of the buses electric it worked out in the end.
hey! gongringer! it would appear la RATP have taken to equiping their Paris bus fleets with e-gongs..!
laughably suburban
crosstown implies crossing the shorter breadth of the corresponding municipality :pFFt: potty Vancouver constantly juvenile there
Шикарная техника, ничего не скажешь!
would you tell me the model of this machine. I like the drain faucet at the top. thanks
Crazy decision. I wonder which corrupt officials are benefitting financially from it?
electricity for the buses was supplied through wires and cables and transformers owned by Wellington City council, that were supposed to be funded by a surplus made by the Cable Car, but the surplus was spent on other things. Eventually the electricity supply company, formerly owned by the City council, announced that supply infrastructure was life expired. Both the regional council and the city council declined to do anything about it - sitting on their hands.
@@stevedruns2353 Thanks for the info.Yes. Sounds about right. They don't do ongoing maintenance to the infrastructure like they used to. Consequently the bill for total replacement presumably ends up being too high.
What is the purpose of stearing wheel
Also the first busses seen in the video are also used in Melbourne in Australia on Melbourne’s metropolitan bus network however of course the buses in Melbourne only have four wheels rather than six and are diesel driven! :)
i may have been that toddler at 8:03 - i used to love the trolleybuses and would be sad if i had to go on a 'square' bus (the diesels). the trolleys had the cool bulged windscreen. i miss the trolleybuses
