Morocco Ep 6 Ouarzazate - Merzouga
Leaving Ouarzazate I stop at the old film set of the horror film "The Hills Have Eyes" which unfortunately seems abandoned now. I continued with the snow-capped mountains before me heading towards the desert and the small town of Merzouga. On the way, I stopped for a couple of days in Tinghir to visit the famous Todra Gorge. I managed to drive through the gorge before the tourist buses began to arrive, it is one of the most visited sites in Morocco.
Leaving Tinghir and the Todra Gorge behind me I made my way along the N10 to Merzouga via Rissani. Gradually the rocky landscape gave way to the sand dunes on the edge of the Sahara and on reaching Merzouga camped in the La Gazelle Bleu campsit...

Traveling To Morocco - Some costs, tips & some general info

I am often asked what it costs to get into Morocco and what it costs to travel through the country so I thought I would try and give you an idea of what to expect. Morocco is a beautiful country with friendly, helpful people. There are lots to see and do, especially if it's your first time in the country. Despite what you might hear Morocco is a safe country to visit. Like everywhere in the wor...

After a few days in Tafraoute, getting some paintwork done on my camper, visiting the Painted Rocks, and seeing the Lion's Head, I left the campsite to continue east to Ouarzazate. Once again I found myself on some rough roads but I do like to get off the usual routes and explore. I spent one night in Talioune before arriving in Ouarzazate. On the outskirts of the town are the film studios wher...
Morocco Ep 4 Zagora - Tafraoute

I continue my journey through Morocco going from Zagora to Tafraoute up in the mountains. I have had some good times in Tafraoute over the years and it is always a place to visit. On this trip, I also want to get some paintwork done on the camper. A local workshop on the outskirts of the town does an excellent job for a very reasonable price, much less than I would have to pay back in the UK or...
Marocco Ep 3 Sidi Ifni - Zagora

My journey continues from Sidi Ifni to Zagora. The road east seemed lunar-like with vast areas of nothingness. Occasionally the stony desert landscape and mountains gave way to small towns, villages and Palm tree oases. I stayed in campsites which although basic had all the facilities you could want at a very reasonable cost. Mostly, the weather has been fine with clear blue skies, hot sunshine...

After some van issues in England before I left, I thought I was good to go, but I wasn't. After a week in France, I started to have other issues, firstly with the throttle pedal assembly and then with the side sliding door. Not able to get the door fixed easily in France, I decided to return to the UK to get things sorted out before getting back on the road and continuing my winter adventures.

A quick update. As I've had issues with the camper, and there is a fuel shortage in France so my plans may change a little. You must always expect the unexpected, it is said, and I certainly didn't expect to have problems finding and getting diesel. At least I managed to get the camper sorted.

      Hi, glad you enjoyed the video. You can park in an area at the top of the gorge but if you arrive early in the morning, the best time you can stop along the gorge. It does get busy throughout the day so if you want the best and quietest period for photos go early morning or evening time.

      @TheNarrowboatNomad Год назад

      Hi Ben, yes I still have the camper although it will soon be up for sale. I weighed around 3.7t, but I made the upgrade as I was carrying a bit too much in the garage area under my bed and wanted to keep the camper level. I did then upgrade to twin heavy-duty rear springs but to be fair that was overkill for my weight. I have friends with single springs and an air assist at the rear and Sumo springs at the front and this seems to be an ideal set-up for a 3.5t van unless of course you are towing a heavy trailer or have a motorbike rack on a tow bar. I think twin rear springs with air assist would be the way to go if you are around the 4t - 4.5t.

      Hi Paul, Don't fret you will have a great adventure without going over the roads I have been doing. I've been to Morocco many times so I try new routes to different places. Anyway, as it's your first time I suggest the following. Leaving Tangier Med head across towards Tetouan, you will find campsites on either side of it one in Martil and another in Douar Azia. From there you could travel down to Chefchaouen, which is well worth a visit. Then head down to Meknes via Ouazzane. You can visit the substantial Roman ruins in Vloubilis. From Meknes head out to Marrakesh via Azrou and Kenifra and from Marrakesh head to the coast and Essaouira, which I am sure you will enjoy. From Essaouira head down the coast towards Agadir and from there you can take the N10 road all the way across the country to Ouarzazate. From there you have two choices either continue on the N10 through the Vallee du Dades, Todra Gorge etc. then across to Erfoud and down to Merzouga or alternatively from Ouarzazate take the N9 to Zagora then the N12 to Rissani, just south of Erfoud and then down to Merzouga. There is a great deal to see on these routes and all the roads are good. I will be somewhere around Azrou during the first week of March so it's possible we might meet up but if not have a fantastic trip and let me know how you get on. Best wishes for a great adventure.🙋‍♂😀😎

      @GlobetrekaTravels Год назад

      @@paulhumphrey3402 Hi Paul, Your idea of going via Midelt and At-Rachidia should be fine. You may see a little snow as in parts it can hang around until April but the N13 road you will be on is generally clear. This route would get you down to Merzouga in less time so a lot depends on how much time you have. Obviously if you take the route you suggest you can still get to see the other places afterwards. To be honest it would be difficult to see everything during one visit as there is so much to see. Hope all goes well.

      Thanks Paul, I hadn’t seen it in the media but it’s a problem that seems to getting worse. I’ve passed many garage’s today that are closed as they have no fuel. Hopefully things will get better before too long.
