Great vid., thanks, curious, do you realize, each of your sentences end an octave higher?
Must be the Artificial Intelligence...
Pump Out? How were the Pump Out services in the Bahamas?
No pump outs in the Bahamas. Everybody dumps overboard. Expert tip - never make water in a crowded anchorage, especially on an incoming tide..
@@bryansnietka3000 so, do you have a Y valve to your holding tank?
Yes we do.
Love this place! It was the best dinner I had while cruising the Bahamas.
Agreed!
Have enjoyed your videos a few times over the last year, but as I was walking this morning i saw a vessel on the hard with the name "Island Time" and there you sit, I assume waiting out the season. We are on our hunt for the right vessel at the moment. Every ever need a hand for something let me know I live right outside the port and glad to lend a hand or help drive for provisions, season will be here before you know it!
Thank you so much. Yes, we are taking a break this summer to help care for an aging relative. Thanks for following. Hoping the storm gods stay away.
So glad. You enjoyed our island be sure to keep it quiet, I love my island and peoples.
It's a jewel!
Where’s the sass tho?
I spoke to Lori about amping up the sass....
Thanks for taking us on your trip. Couldn't Island Time run on one engine instead of tow? Thanks
Absolutely she could, however we were headed for a very tight marina and steerage at low speed and on one engine gets tricky. So, we decided to play it safe. Also, we subscribe to a year round towing service that offers unlimited towing.
@@cruisingonislandtime Thanks, I have read that some PDQ cruisers alternate running single engines and get extraordinary ranges at 6.5 Knots.
I have heard the same. I guess it's a balance between fuel savings and putting more engine hours on your boat.
The pattern that emerged is boating is expensive. And Newport particularly so. My wife and I did a trip from Long Island to Greenport to Newport to montauk and returned home to the tune of $1,580 in fuel alone. But that’s the cost of playing. It’s where I choose to spend my money. I don’t drive a nice car or have a pool or take crazy vacations to far away places But my boat and house are pretty nice.
Very true. But at least there are ways to mitigate the expense like mooring or anchoring, and keeping a conservative cruising speed. Either way, cruising isn't cheap and gotchas seem to show up when you least expect them. Thankfully the enjoyment outweighs the cost. As far as vices go, there are far many worse..
Not correctly narrated - the conch blowing is "owned" by a Nova Scotian name Frank Davis and the bagpipe preswentation is "owned" by Rick Hearn on Northern Ice of British Columbia Canada as the original Bagpipe show
Groovy episode.
Happy that you enjoyed!
Thanks for the review of the prime rib.... I'm heading that way in a couple months and kept hearing about it. Yours looked awesome and delicious, but if it's overly seasoned, that's not up my alley. And $60? I can use that elsewhere!
To each their own Jeff. Many people like it. But I've heard others say the same thing as I did. I'll pass next time...
There is an interesting history on Gin Su Mer. The development was started by Pierre Lamouroux, a Frenchman who made his fortune inventing and promoting the Ginsu Knife in the late 1970s and 1980s ... " it slices, it dices, it makes Julienne Fries" ... thus he named his development GinSuMer, or "knife of the sea".
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you all had a great time in the Bahamas and a smooth ride back home. One day we'll get our boat to the Bahamas and hope we have the same great time. Be well and best wishes.
Thank you so much. Our advice is "Just Do It" !
Your video collection is awesome. Check your mail. Have sent you some suggestions for growing your channel. Have a nice trip.
Ok thanks!
A product named rocker stopper may reduce the rolling at anchor.
I'll check it out.
The odds that we were on a mooring in newport harbor while you were there are high, but sadly you weren't showing the particular area in your video. Oh well, that would have been cool to see. Glad you enjoyed Newport! And fun to see all the places we go to each summer.
We anchored for a few weeks there, went to Block, then came back and took a mooring for a bit.
I guess we got to Block Island maybe 3 weeks after you left. Glad to see it showcased here. We love taking our boat there every year.
Block is awesome. Quintessential New England.
Very nice info video. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Fun video, I'm on the edge of my seat to see if you got the golf cart fixed.
Big cliffhanger.... Actually, we're just testing to see who watches until the end...
You are right mike….see you in Anna-POLIS
I believe that the correct pronunciation of the island is Elu-terra.
I believe I heard that in Anna Polis..
Very informative video and interesting comments , along with great scenery .
Glad you enjoyed it
This was another great video. I don't think you will find more beautiful, clear, blue/green water than in the Bahama's. Never tire of that sight. Pancake is darling and love to watch her run. Love the pile of handmade signs cruisers leave. What a cool idea. Watch out for the sandbars, everyone gets stuck on one eventually. Just another adventure. Love to you all. 💖🐾
Thanks Judy. The Exumas have some amazing water with every imaginable shade of blue and green. With 700+ islands in the Bahamas there is always something to do and explore. Pancake is living her best life...
Lovely video. Bahamas cruising at its finest.
Thank you John. It really is!
Man, there were some parties back in the day at that SCYC pool !
Seemed pretty quiet while we were there.
Love your videos, thank you for your time and effort.
Glad you like them!
Hey Brian- great video. I noticed the two sided Dometic frig/freezer. We have the same one and it is great way to add more food for those Exuma trips. Keep posting.
Thanks Tom. We definitely love the usefulness but are not very happy with the performance. The first one lasted 5 months and was replaced under warranty. This one lasted 7 months then one of the sides failed to cool and the compressor smelled like burning electronics. So, we are running just one side, in freezer mode. We'll do another warranty claim when we get back to the US. And, the phone app to control and monitor is flaky at best. Not great for the price point of the unit.
Well done Bryan & Lori…. Always interesting…warm regards
Thank you for watching. We are happy that you enjoyed the video Maurice.
Hi guys, Vincent from Sherazade, we have met at Great harbour cay, just found out your video, nice to see my sailboat at 6:40 lol hope you doing well and having fun, say Hi to John & Sally for me and safe travel
Hi Vincent. Glad that you enjoyed and found the proof that we were both there for that storm. We are currently in Eleuthera and starting to make our way north. Safe travels.
Wow, what a great holding tank piping design. Kudos to PDQ! A dozen tails for $40? Outstanding. Great looking paella too.
The tails and paella were great. Like all good things, they ended up in the holding tank.....
Dude ! That hose above your diverter valve is kinked ... I bet Easy Riders doesn't have any kinked hoses.
Easy Riders is as kinky as they come !!
I can not believe. how many of your Videos I have watched . We have spent quite a bit of time together in the last 2 days and I never put two and two together ...I guess that is what a senior moment is . Brian with an I and Linda ...... great job on the channel
Lol Brian. That's hysterical. Not recognizing me is understandable but not recognizing Pancake or Lori ??? That's almost unforgivable.... Great meeting you both, and Hemingway. Hope we cross paths soon.
Thanks for the memories❤
You're welcome Linda.
Good to see you guys again. I think the Bahama's water is the most beautiful, clear, blue anywhere. The meals you all prepare are incredible, 5 star and make me hungry!!!! You do ok for yourselves. Crazy about the Cake's and her beautiful spirit make my day. What a terrific mate. I see Lori holding on to her leash on LuLu and wonder if she has ever attempted to jump???? I know Lori would be getting wet to bring her back aboard in a heartbeat. Loved this video!! Enjoy another fab winter. 🐾 💖 Hope mom's doing better. 🙏
Thanks Jude. Good to be back on Island Time - literally and figuratively. I think Cakes learned to swim while I was gone. She's living her best life. Cakes hasn't leaped into water yet but she does leap off at shore. Not sure she really knows the difference. And yes, nobody goes hungry or thirsty for too long in the cruising lifestyle.
Happy to see yall back, I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you. Had to fly back to the States to help care for an aging parent. And got Covid there which lengthened the stay. Back in action now and just moved to the Exhumas.
When did you actually cross? How’s the weather been over there. Been blowing like hell here in Fla since start of January.
We crossed on Jan 10. The weather windows are few and far between this year. Maybe 1 or 2 good crossing days in any month. Lots of wind from repeated cold fronts.
I had that chain striper replaced last year. Pricy part for that little bit of stainless!
Yup..but cheaper than a new windlass I guess. Hopefully the windlass has more life in her..
Nice videos but most irritating music!
Noted
Wow!!! Great video, maybe my favorite so far. What a wonderful community of PDQ owners who are now like family!! Love it. Another great job of maintenance on the belt and St. Augustine was the bomb at Christmas. John & Sally look like lots of fun. Looks like you are heading into another fantastic winter. Enjoy every minute. Greak folks!! Hugs to Pancake!!🐾💗
Thank you for watching Judy.
Excellent video Brian. Look forward to meeting you and Laurie this weekend at the Rendezvous!
Hi Tom. Thanks and sorry but we took advantage of a weather window last week to shoot over to the Berries along with Traveler and Jubulani. John (in the video) will be at the rendezvous.
do you have video touring the boat?
Not yet but we plan on doing one
do you still keep the US flag up along with courtesy flag?
Yes we do.
This time it was 4 hrs at about 13.5 knts average as we had 3-4 seas on the front quarter but mostly swells. We are loaded for 4-5 months cruising and very heavy so 8 gallons per hr. At 8 knts we do about 3 gallons per hr. We had a short weather window so we pushed it hard and got to the Berry islands in about 9 hours from Biscayne bay..
how long did it take crossing to bimini? fuel consumption and speed?
From Miami to Bimini it was about 4.5 hours at about 14 knots. I would estimate 8 gallons per hour, but we were pretty heavily loaded with fuel, water, provisions, etc. It was pretty lumpy so we went fast to minimize the discomfort. Typically, we can cruise at 8 knts at about 2 GPH.
what boat you got?
She's a PDQ 34 power cat.
@@cruisingonislandtime how's the build quality? parts easy to get for it? been looking at these myself.
Excellent build quality and resale value. Easy to get replacement parts. Yanmar engines. Northern Lights genny. Common pumps. Strong owners group for advice. PDQforum.com
Another great trip. Neat swing bridge. Loved the fuel pump overhaul. Nice darn job! 👌💖
Thank you. There is a saying - "Everything on your boat is broken. You just don't know it yet.". It rings true.
That is so funny! You are so good with your step by step instructions for repairs that you could do a "How To" channel on repairing your boat!! Excellent.@@cruisingonislandtime
My goal is to convey the realities of cruising along with the fact that you can do and mostly have to do it yourself.
Was the guy wet-sanding the hull with an electric sander?
On a raft and floating in salt water. I believe so.
My parents bought property on GHC in the 60’s. They built a home there and spent seasonal time there for over 7 years. I saw your video of the old clubhouse. When I was there, it was at its prime. I have photos of my teenage self standing in front of the beautiful clubhouse. The house was sold as the island and country had many changes. The house was purchased and remodeled to enlarge it and remains on the island having withstood hurricanes, drug smugglers and island debt. This winter I hope to go back and spend some time there.
Thank you for your comments Sue. It must have been great being there in the height of its splendor. I will say though that the nice thing about this place is that it barely changes from year to year as opposed to many tourist areas. It might be lost in time but that's not necessarily a bad thing. And, the Bahamaian people are just wonderful.
What month was this?? Chilly 🥶??
Early October. Mid to upper 60s at night so great sleeping at anchor. 70s during the day. 80s once we hit FL.
How many days did this take? What’s your average daily mileage? Thanks for the videos.
You're welcome. Glad you are enjoying. We traveled from CT to FL in 19 days, 16 were travel days, and we averaged 82 miles per day. We were on a tight schedule this time so we humped it back and were fortunate to have great weather. We stopped more on the way up to sightsee so that was 23 days.
how you like the pdq? been looking at one myself.
Can't beat it for a coastal/bahamas cruiser. Economical and 3' draft. Awesome owners group. Has exceeded our expectations.
@@cruisingonislandtime owners group?
There is an online PDQ forum and Rhumbline Yacht Sales sponsors a yearly owner's gathering in Stuart, FL.
Great video!! Holiday's over and maintenance projects done so👍 safe travels to paradise this winter. You all look great and look forward to this season's adventures. Impressed with the gourmet meals you both create. The "Cakes", gotta love her. A real trooper. Sending love to you all. 🐾💓
Thank you Judy. Island Time is just waiting on the next good, 2 day weather window to cross over to the Bahamas. She's loaded up with food and drink. The only weight we lost has been from our wallets...
