Hauslane PS18 Range Hood Install
In this video, I share my experience of installing the Hauslane PS18 Under cabinet range hood. This is not intended to be a comprehensive video and some stages of install are missing in the clips. I have attempted to explain those steps in the subtitles.
I consider myself to be an novice DIYer and this took quite a lot of effort. The range hood was quite heavy and without having jacks, required 2 helpers, some props and leverage to install. Overall, pleased with the performance of the hood so far. Aug 23, 2022. the hood has worked without any issues.
Additional Note from viewer suggestion: the grease tray easily slides into 2 brackets one on each side on the underside near the wall towards ...

The predrilled holes on the hood for where the screws go to connect to the cabinets are very strangely positioned. Looks like you drilled your own holes through the hood? Can you please confirm? How did you do that? Thank you.

I used the cutouts in the hood and did not drill any new holes. I chose to use bolts instead of screws as I wasn't confident that screws will hold. I marked the holes on the cabinet underside with a pencil. Then removed the hood and used a drill to make the hole where marked. Then mounted the hood

Thank you for posting this video. My setup is almost identical to yours but I had a very hard time connecting the duct to the hood's round adapter. In the video I can't really tell.. Are you using the round adapter? If so, does the elbow fit in that adapter? Does it go all the way in or it's supposed to go outside of the adapter? Or they just need to barely touch and then you secure it with tape?

The hood had a 6" round head adapter. I used a 6" elbow that sat over the adapter and secured it with foil tape. I used a separate purchased 6" adapter that I cut to shape to extend the elbow into the wall exit. The adapter and elbow were joined by foil tape. I hope this helps and Good luck. Thank you for your comment.

I know it’s long time but I don’t understand why you replace the existing hole?

The original hole in the wall was off-center and did not align with the vent at the back of the hood. Also, there was a stud in the wall so I could not expand the hole. That's why I had to duct using the top circular 6" vent. Unfortunately, this led to a lot more work as shown in the video. Good luck with your install.

I saw your video on Hauslane installation and have a question. As relates to the ducting, the instruction manual indicates that it is "imperative" to have a 12" straight run before any elbow. Your install does not appear to have that and I wonder if that has affected performance in any way?

Hi, I have not observed any noticeable performance reductions. Venting works fine at low and high speeds. No issues with sound of the vent.

Great video. It helped me finish my install. Maybe add a note about where the grease catcher goes.

Awesome video. What type of bolt did you use? Also, how's the range hood doing after 1 year?

Thank you. Used stainless steel (avoid rust issues) hillman bolts with plain shaft and threads at the end. Use a length to suit based on the cabinet wood thickness. 1 year on, the range hood works perfectly, no issues.

Thank you. Its hard to find out how loud range hoods are. Your video seems to show that even at speed 6 you should be able to conduct a regular conversation without shouting.

I've hardly needed to use it at speed 6. You can have a conversation at 6 but it would be a little hard to hear. It is quite effective at speed 3.
