Session 33: What is Ecumenical Catholicism?
With this session we conclude our Introduction into Catholic Christian Theology by exploring Ecumenical Catholicism. Your speaker, Bishop Peter Hickman, is the founding bishop of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion. In this session Bishop Peter addresses the question of, "What is Ecumenical Catholicism?" Where did it come from? Is it valid Catholicism?
Thank you for joining us on this journey. It is our prayer that you have come to understand your faith and your relationship with Christ and the church in a richer, more dynamic and fulfilling way.

Catholic Cathechism book best guide for Catholics. The o brian book mentioned has concepts opposing Roman Catholic faith.
Science and theology should not be used in the same sentence. Anyone who uses it pretends more than he can deliver. Theology is a matter of heart more than mind. People are afraid of it because they have not selves into their heart in any serious measure
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing this entire series. It’s a lot of material, but I appreciate deeply finding this kind of introduction from a source as authoritative and clear as you. Thank you so much
Amazing lecture ❤
Just discovered these lectures. Very useful and really enjoy how the material is presented.
Turns out this is from a heretical church.
We want to be as inclusive as possible short of blessing sin.
Feminine pronoun. Give me a break.
Beautiful stuff, Mike! Thank you SO much for sharing this stuff. It's wonderful. My wife and I are finding you very late here in 2023 and I suppose it might be impossible to get a hold of the reading list, notes, etc. from this lecture, but if you'd every like to reach out with any info at all I'd be deeply grateful. Either way thank you very much again and God bless. Take care.
i will pray for your conversion, but the ECC teaches true heresy 💔
PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY AS IF YOUR ETERNAL “LIFE” DEPENDED ON IT In the Book of Hebrews Chapter 10, in context, the author was talking to “baptized” Christians (Hebrews 10:22) telling them to not be “neglecting to meet together” in “the Church” - being the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH. Why “the Church”??? ***Hebrews 10:26-29 “For IF WE SIN DELIBERATELY after receiving knowledge of the truth, THERE NO LONGER REMAINS A SACRIFICE FOR SINS, BUT A FEARFUL PROSPECT OF JUDGMENT, AND A FURY OF FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES………..HOW MUCH MORE PUNISHMENT DO YOU THINK WILL BE DESERVED BY THE MAN WHO HAS SPURNED THE SON OF GOD, AND PROFANED THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT BY WHICH HE HAS SANCTIFIED, AND OUTRAGED THE SPIRIT OF GRACE”.*** What does Sacred Scriptures clearly say “IF WE SIN DELIBERATELY” or willfully break any of the commandments whether the old (10 Commandments) or NEW (Laws of LOVE or refusing to LOVE as Christ commands per John 13:34)??? If “THERE NO LONGER REMAINS A SACRIFICE FOR SINS, BUT A FEARFUL PROSPECT OF JUDGMENT”, then how does one obtain reconciliation with GOD again??? We must examine the old covenant to fully understand the NEW COVENANT. In Leviticus 5:5-6 and Numbers 5:5-9 we understand what an old covenant Jew had to do to receive GOD's forgiveness. Additionally, GOD in the Books of Leviticus and Numbers any time personal “sin” is even mentioned you will read over and over again “THUS THE PRIEST SHALL MAKE ATONEMENT FOR A MAN’S SINS AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN” (Lev 4:20, 4:26, 4:31,4:35, 5:6, 5:10, 5:13, 5:16, 5:18, 6:7, 7:7, 12:8, 14:18, 14:19, 14:20, 14:29, 14:31, 15:15, 15:30, 16:32, 16:33, 19:22 Num. 6:11,15:25, and 15:28). In the old covenant, GOD clearly uses ordained “men”, the Leviticus Priesthood, to administer His forgiveness. Now, does GOD keep His WORD and covenant promises??? GOD promises to have a perpetual priesthood per His covenant in Numbers 25:12-13 and Malachi 2:4-7 and has WORDS of “forever” in Exodus 29:7-9, 40:15, and 1 Chronicles 23:13. Then, GOD promises to have a perpetual priesthood in Jeremiah 33:14-22 NEW COVENANT PROPHECY. And, in context of “gathering the nations” in Isaiah 66:18 GOD states in Isaiah 66:21 “some of them also I will take for priests”, meaning no longer based on Levi tribal lineage in the NEW COVENANT. In John Chapter 13, we see Jesus Christ fulfilling His Father’s Levi Covenant promise and Malachi 3:3 prophecy, when He sits down in the upper room “purifying” the NEW COVENANT PRIESTHOOD with a “washing”. This “washing” was a “forever” priestly liturgical GOD command in Exodus 30:21- in order to perform any altar work or sacrifice. What “same” power does the Son of GOD give to His ONE and ONLY established Church or “the Church” per Matthew 16:19, 18:18 and specifically explained to the NEW COVENANT PRIESTHOOD by Jesus in John 20:21-23??? In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 St. Paul describes what Jesus Christ did was He “GAVE US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION” and concluded “SO WE ARE AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST”. An “ambassador” wields what kind of power as an “official representative” of Christ or more specifically explained in “the Church” as “persona Christi”??? Please come or return to your real home and be “reconciled” to “the Church” HIS ONE BODY (Ephesians 4:4-6). What did Jesus Christ create, pray for in John 17:21-23 and die for??? If you really LOVE Jesus Christ, then you will respond to His prayer and join the “ONENESS” that He created. The “Lamb of GOD” wants to unite with you in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19) in His ONE and ONLY established Church, so we all can be “perfectly ONE”. May GOD richly bless you on your journey.
The one lady seems so excited to be studying this, you can hear it in her voice.
how do i get a copy of the hand outs?
Sorry, the handouts are not available
Also if you could record your full Bible studies - I’d love to see those! Thank you!
I love these videos. I’ve learnt so much. Thank you!
The Holy Spirit is not a she, no.
"Do we even need salvation?" Of course we do. !!
Need more content please.
a master class!
Your teaching style is so refreshing and engaging. Thank you for uploading this wonderful course.
I had a question about part of your lecture in regards to God being genderless. In basic catholicism God is recognized and represented as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. By this recognition he is actually represented as masculine twice and spiritual object second. I'm not here to challenge how God would choose to appear based on His ability or desire, but doesn't that make him patriarchal and masculine by definition? He did create man first and revealed Himself in such a way. Just trying to understand and not presume to know what I'm talking about. 😁 Really appreciate your classes!
I am Roman Catholic, and I love these lectures by the ECC
If purgatory isn't like the common picture says, why a lot of mistics of the Catholic Church describe it like a place of suffering and 🔥?! Mystics like Catalina of Siena or Faustina Kowalska 0.o even Father Pio... their visions were wrong? Great class :)

Your biblical theological imports on marriage is profound having a garnished theological alimentations
What is your opinion on ‘A Course in Miracles’? Curious about Catholics perspective on this text. Thanks!
One thing to note about sexuality... God does not make sin. That's a mechanical fact about God. If you're partaking in Sin, then it's by choice. In fact, sin is a choice against God. If you have a sexuality that goes 'against' the law of God, then you've chosen incorrectly. With all things, do with love. I hope that these words may have helped someone. Not by my doing but by His doing.
Isaiah 56:4-7 is very enlightening on that subject.
This is a doctorate study.
Mike, I cant say how much I appreciate your works. You have opened a new door for me to be with God ! Thanks
Hi Mike, I really appreciate all your works. You make my journey of faith more fruitful. God Bless you and your loved one !
This is amazing teaching. I'm South African based Pentecostal. Always respected Catholicism. After this video I have a new found respect for Catholic theology and it explains, to certain degree, why catholic theology is a major contributor into Christian thought. God bless
this is well design video in theology. thank you for your effort
Glad you liked it!
I am a Priest never I underwent such an insightful soteriology in my theology years. Thanks, Father.
Hi I’m watching your lectures thank you for sharing with us. How can I get your hand outs to follow along with your sessions please? God Bless Marc
Thank you
Hello, I've just come across you videos at a moment I've very much been looking for something like this. I've read all the comments below and was wondering if this would be the same or similar classes my Diocese would offer? I am Roman Catholic and wasn't sure if Catholic theology was Catholic theology. I've read through St. Matthew's about us page and they do a good job explaining some difference from Roman Catholic to ECC. I see a couple differences of hand; ECC does not affirm the Pope is infallible, and priest can be female, married or other. Does this come through in the videos? Will there be teachings that I may not follow? I hope that makes sense .
I may have answered my own question by going through this video. He states that the will be looking at Catholic Theology and how it is view through ECC. Interesting but maybe not totally relevant to me.
sorry for the two year delay in responding! Yes, Catholic Theology is Catholic Theology. Please feel free to reach out if more questions
Wow thank you, learned a lot
Thank you Father , I learned a lot
How are the confirmants in your church going? I am looking at these lectures again after 3 or 4 years. It's great we have this technology
Love your series, brother. Just wanted to point out a hadith is a saying of the prophet, and what you were referring to is the hijab. I just want to clarify for people on RUclips--i know that you know that and just misspoke. God bless you--good series
excellent Playlist here. thank you for putting this all together
Dear sir 🙏, where is the first part of it?
Invention of Christianity? Ok.. Heard enough..
Christianity was a movement invented in order to channel and group together the teachings of Christ. School was invented to teach math and english and so on, but this does not make schools fake. It’s more about identifying that Christianity was a community created specifically for the teachings of Christ
You have understood his words incorrectly. "Theology is an invention of Christianity". He means theology was invented by Christianity.
Hi Mike, How can I get the notes?
may god bless you and this ministry !!!
Can somebody spell please the name of the saint mentioned at 30:29 by Polly? Thanks!
Sounds like either St. Cyprein or Stm Cyprian
@@MilanJibril Thanks very much!
@@paulan-f7u no problem 👋
Even if you define death in its spiritual terms as the separation from God (which it is), in terms of causation, Original Sin is still the primary evil because death entered into the world through Original Sin. If you don't have Original Sin, you don't have death. Death is the primary EFFECT of Original Sin, but it is the second evil, unless you don't consider disobedience to God an evil, and if you don't you have other problems. Additionally, sin does not flow from spiritual death because not all sin is mortal. It is the compilation of greater degrees of sin (whether in thought, word, deed or neglect) that leads to spiritual death. A non-baptized child is spiritually dead because of the effects of Original Sin. A baptized child that becomes spiritually dead at an older age does so not by starting off committing mortal sins, but by degrees of sinfulness that eventually cut him off from the life of grace (spiritual death).
The Church as "The New Humanity" is not in any Magisterial source of Catholic teaching, though it is in the theology of some of the more theologically "out-there" non-Catholic ecclesial communities far removed from the Catholic Church. So, why would you start there in Catholic theology? Why not start with the documents of Vatican II which called the Church, "the People of God" and unpack THAT, and compare and contrast that with the traditional terms associated with the Church: Mystical Body of Christ, Bride of Christ, Mystical City, Heavenly Jerusalem, the three-fold makeup of the Church, i.e., The Church Triumphant, the Church Militant and Church Suffering, etc.?
I listened diligently to hear from him sound Catholic ecclesiology from the inception of Vatican 1(Dei filius) up to the threshold of Vatican 11 council. But he did justice on the consequences of the evil of fault but didn't capture the intrusion of the evil of punishment.
