We really need to address the fact that most students coming into 6th grade are and have been reading at a 3rd grade level. To me this signifies the fact that the curriculum needs to be addressed. Also, special educators have three times the amount of work and not given the time to do it. Most of our paperwork has to be done at home. During testing we didn’t even get breaks and deadlines given to submit grades during Milestone testing is unrealistic. We are tired. We are stressed and with the growing amount of people quitting during the school year and high turnover rates, someone needs to start checking building culture. First we must be confident that we won’t be retaliated against for speaking up.

Thank you for having us! Now, more than ever, it is important for everyone to be paying attention to what is happening with the DeKalb County School system. Whether you currently have children in our schools or not, please vote on May 24th. Our schools impact economic development, property values, community cohesion, and so much more.

This is the editor: I wanted to personally and publicly apologize to Dr. Sulton for not using her professional title throughout the forum. We had a discussion about this beforehand, and we agreed we could address the candidates by their first names. Because we agreed to be on a first name basis, I slipped into my lifelong habit of addressing people as Mr., Ms. or sir. In hindsight, I should've gone with my first instinct, which was to address her by her professional title. This was entirely my fault. While I was not intentionally trying to ignore her accomplishments, I do realize that people of color often fight to be recognized for the titles they have rightfully earned. These professional slights are wrong and shouldn't happen. In the future, I will always refer to Dr. Sulton by her professional title when inviting her on our Twitch program. To anyone who was offended by my mistake, I sincerely apologize.

Alliance Defending Freedom cooked up a case soon after this video was taken, alleging a five year old girl was sexually assaulted by a "gender-fluid" boy who would not have been in the girls' bathroom if it weren't for this blasted trans-bathroom policy. Smells suspicious? Definitely! The girl's mother, a long-time anti-trans activist, completely fabricated the whole thing. Of course, ADF is an anti-LGBT hate group so they didn't question in the slightest that a so-called trans kid (also five years old) was a predator.
