From my own personal archive, a restored 16mm film reel, photographed in 1962 at Loudon Square, Butetown, Cardiff. Due to impending redevelopment of two blocks of high rise flats, the playground was removed so the kids had to make their own fun. Now 60 years later. the area has been improved again with new shops, cultural centre and film workshops.

Film training in Wales was the brainchild of John Wright, Principal of Newport College of Art who with Harley Jones set up the Newport Film School to train budding filmmakers in the art, craft and skills of filmmaking. I interviewed Dave Berry author and film historian in 2010 about the importance of finding a home for the many items of cinema memorabilia in the collection known as Kinetechnik. Mainly the work of Chris Plaister and Keith Nunn, the items are still in storage until a permanent home can be found.

Filmed in 2009 at the Odeon Cinema (balcony room) where meetings of cinema enthusiasts were held on Saturday mornings. The late Dave Berry was the author of 'Wales and the Cinema' first published in 1994.
