Flying DJI Neo with NO CONTROLLER! Is this the perfect travel drone?
The DJI Neo is the perfect lightweight travel drone for capturing quick and easy short clips. I use Neo without a controller, I just turn on, select mode, hold out my palm and let Neo do the rest.
Neo can also be used with multiple DJI controllers, but for me the best use case is for lightweight travel.
This is shot in full auto, both the Osmo Action 5 Pro and Neo footage. Audio is unedited to demonstrate the sound of Neo. It is not the quietest drone but not as loud as many people are claiming. Let me know what you think!

Why you should use Dash Cam AUDIO Recording!
Hi, with this setup would the 67w record on parking mode in conjunction with the mini or does it just record on parking mode for the 67w which is connected to the fuse box and not the mini?
Each camera would need to be set up separately. You can combine the footage in the app afterwards
Brilliant review mate, that's the beauty of Garmin, even today Dec 2024, although Garmin has moved on all the way to Garmin 8 and Epix pro gen 2 etc, if anyone was still wearing the Garmin 6...they'd still be equipped with a high performance beast on their wrist, albeit they really need to upgrade to the extra beastly Epix pro or 7 pro. Not a big fan of 8.
Thanks. I looked at the Fenix 8 but I don’t see anything there that warrants an upgrade from Fenix 7.
@@ThisIsJulianC 💯
can you make the camera record when parked and car is off?
Yes if you have the parking guard power cable. You can then set how many hours it is active for. I set mine at 12 hours, that covers almost all parking away from my own garage.
Thanks
I owned a few Apple watches, Apple Ultra watch, Fitbit, Polar Verity Sense (not a watch but still) , and now Fenix 7 pro 47mm. Apple is garbage in terms of software, and battery life. Ultra watch is ugly in my opinion, and offer mediocre battery improvements. Until Apple start making proper software, and not toys, and increase the damn battery, I won't be returninig. Garmin looks like a proper watch, performs amazing, battery is charge and forget, and seems to be very accurate in all the metrics. I vote for garmin all the way.
Agree on the styling of Ultra - doesn’t do it for me.
The same for F6 pro
Good to know 👍
Thanks
My travel rig, is similar. 24mm 2.5 G, 45mm 1.8, 28-60 kit lens. I leave the Tamron 28-75, 2.8 home.
Is that a Rokinon 45mm? Haven’t tried that. Good choices for a compact travel kit 👍
@ Yes it is. I did get the 40mm 2.5 G lens as well. Probably will let the 45 live on a a7iii I have. Probably will relegate the more compact G and kit lens to the a7cii, and 28-75 tamron and samyang 45 to the a7iii. Not sure yet, but may sell the a7iii?
Hi Julian, thanks a LOT for this video - first time on your channel. I currently have an Apple Watch Series 7 45mm however due to several reasons I am looking to grab something else. I am torn between a few of the Garmin watches! They currently have a sale on and I have narrowed it down the following. Included below with pricing: Garmin Fenix 7 47mm Standard: £283 Garmin Fenix 7x 51mm Solar: £404 Garmin Instinct 2x Solar: £238 I know its hard to say which one to get as you don't know me personally but if it was you (apart from the fact that you have a 7x) which one of the three would you go for?
Really does depend on what you will use it for and which design appeals to you. Instinct and Fenix are both style watches, which style you prefer is personal choice. Most people find the Instinct covers everything they need and has a cool look to it too. I would still go for the Fenix, the size depends on your wrist and how the larger size might look. If in doubt go larger. The Fenix Solar feature is a fun add but really doesn’t do much for battery life for normal use.
Great video with nice presentation style
Thanks
Ancool seem to be branded as Notocity on UK Amazon
Good to know
The puls is not very accurate, that is the most annoying thing is my opinion.
If you are a professional athlete then a chest strap is still going to give you the accuracy you likely need. For an age grouper, modern optical HR should be plenty accurate enough. If it is way off it might be how you are wearing it, or a fault.
instead of sony 24 2.8 i would recommend the viltrox 20 2.8. it's small and it cost only 150 euros.
Quick question. I'm trying to keep myself very compact, and I am sold on the 24mm, but I'm trying to decide between the 40mm and the 50mm. I feel if I can get the 24mm in cropped mode, I have a 36mm-equivalent that is "almost" a 40mm, and then would have the 50mm to have both a 50mm at full-frame and a 75mm cropped. What are you thoughts on this?
It doesn’t really work that way. Focal length determines perspective. A cropped photo taken with a 40mm lens will not look exactly the same as a 24mm image, even if cropped to the same composition, because the perspective and field of view captured by the 40mm lens will be slightly different, showing less of the scene compared to the wider 24mm lens; essentially, cropping only changes the framing of the image, not the inherent perspective captured by the lens focal length. Edit - having said all that, in a tight situation where you don’t have other lenses with you, you can get away with it. Just won’t be quite the same. Hope this helps!
@@ThisIsJulianC Oh yeah! I don't expect to render the exact same image, but having the 24mm and knowing with the A7CR that I can crop in and get an equivalent 28MP image of a 36mm composition gives me peace of mind knowing I can stay light and compact. At the end of the day, I'm not necessarily looking to pixel-peep, but to have appropriate compositional frames, even if at the cost of sharpness/lost resolution. With regards to perspective, I can imagine the lens distortion can differ from a 24mm 1.5x cropped image and a 40mm cropped to fit a 36mm compositional frame, but I'm imagining it wouldn't be drastic enough to represent a significant difference. What do you think?
@@azaeldrmFor what you are describing I think it will be fine. Ultimately it’s personal preference as all images are subjective. If you are happy with it… then it’s good. I occasionally will crop in, the sensor has plenty of resolution headroom, although I generally do it in LR rather than in camera.
At which exposure time do you manage to take sharp photos with IBIS?
Really depends on many factors including the focal length and the subject. At 40mm and 1/15 sec I get more than enough keepers.
Thanks!
The mirror in your truck appears to be powered. Dongar Technologies makes an adapter cable to connect dash cams to a powered mirror to power the dash cam. No need to mess with fuse box.
Yes you can do that with most modern vehicles too
Are these the Pro versions? Also, are you using Blu tooth or internal storage?
These are Shokz Open Swim, mp3 internal storage only
@ThisIsJulianC interesting thanks. Am I right in saying there is an Open Swim Pro 2 version out now? Where is the improvement?
@@EdLo3The more recent Openswim Pro has Bluetooth in addition to internal storage, however the Bluetooth function is not intended to be used while swimming. By its nature Bluetooth connections do not operate underwater, hence the internal storage. Having both functions allows you to use them in different situations, such as running with Bluetooth, and swimming with mp3.
My travel kit : 14GM, voigtlander 15mm, 35F2.8, 55F1.8 I bought the 35 and 55 with the 1st generation A7. The 35mm might not performe well in A7, but get much better with the 61M sensor. Why 2 ultra wide? I will go travel with a backpack and a packable sling. Backpack for all the gear and accessories but go out with the sling. Most of the time I go out with voigtlander 15mm, but change to 14GM if going out at night. The voigtlander 15mm is so compact that you won't even notice it when packed in the backpack.
I am envious of your 14mm GM. What night scenes do you shoot with it. What sling are you using, I have a Belroy sling that just about fits A7CR with a small prime.
@@ThisIsJulianC The 14GM is good for night shots of temples, churches, towers that have crowd in front. The ultra wide let you easier to get closer to the building/architecture than others. I have multiple slings but the recent favorite is the peak design outdoor sling 7L. The trick for more capacity is to use camera wraps instead of cubes. The protection might not be as good but enough for most occasions. Hope these help.
do you have any photography or videography experience at all ? because your lighting on your person is fantastic! im a 20 year commercial photographer veteran and thats saying a lot
Thank you! I am a long time photographer but new to video
Great video! And You’re a good Dad!
Thanks for the video. The Mini 2 is designed to mount on a sloped windshield, like all dash cams I imagine. Did the mounting of the Mini 2 to the vertical rear window present any problems with adjustability up and down to get the best view? I ask because I see in the Garmin pictures of the unit, and it does not look like there would be much range when positioned on a vertical surface. Otherwise just how much adjustability was left? It has been a while since I viewed your video, but I believe you may have said you might consider the Mini 3 if it had been available at the time; alternately this could have been another video I have watched regarding the Mini 3. Again, according to the Garmin pictures, a vertical mount appears difficult as well. Any comment?
There is plenty of movement in the mount to mount Mini 2 on a vertical rear windshield. This video was shot before Mini 3 was available, if I was to install cameras in a car today I would put a Mini 3 looking out the rear.
@@ThisIsJulianC Thanks.
I'm confused. Is it 3 or 4 lenses that you travel with? You show 4 lenses but only mention 3. The 40 prime, 24 GM, and 16-35.
At the time of this video I was generally traveling with four lenses but then dropped to three after. The end of the video covered that in the summary.
my vehicle doesn't have a USB port, what are the installation options, is there another Garman dashcam that is available that connects to the 'lighter' socket?
Can’t recall if a cigarette lighter cable comes with any recent Garmin dash cam. You can buy plenty of aftermarket cables that will do that. I have an older Garmin dash cam in another car, not featured on the video, that is permanently installed with a cigarette lighter cable.
Saludos viejon buen trabajo
LOL, you need a real horn. Electronic or air horn. That cartoon horn isn't really going to be heard by cagers.
🤣 that’s all I had at the time on Final Cut
@ yup,’gotta use what you got. I understand. Aliexpress has a really good legit electric horn for about $30. But it’s heavy. AirZound is probably better for your use. A lot lighter.
No Cadence???
Firmware update in 2019 added cadence.
I just got it on Amazon for $150 with card. Lightning Black Friday deal. Is it worth the price?
Yes that sounds good
Does the 67w record with the screen off? That would be a major distraction for me. I have the mini 2, so I don’t notice the red light behind the mirror. I’d notice an LCD screen though.
My screen times out after about 30 seconds
i'm thinking to buy again a gopro for my videos. GPS is all. Why Gopro 11 is the best camera? more than gopro 13? i need help
Hero 13 has the same processor and sensor as Hero 11 and Hero 12, overall image quality is comparable. GoPro has added more features to the Hero 13 firmware that are not offered on the older cameras. The battery is different on Hero 13 too and not interchangeable with earlier models. Today I would buy 13 if only for the ease of use of the additional lenses that GoPro launched with the camera. Hope this helps.
i recently bought a 70-200 L f2.8 IS for 550£ like new and i am using it on the R5 mkII
Thanks for your video! Excited for the arrival for the new Fenix 7X Pro Solar Sapphire model which I just ordered recently, currently using the Vivoactive 4
You are going to see a huge difference vs the Vivoactice 👍
I expected more from it on stills side of it. The image quality is soft and sadly bad!

I have a Garmin Mini 2 as my rear camera too, but all my footage from the rear camera is flipped. Do you know how to fix that issue?
You should be able to use the Garmin Drive app to rotate or flip the video: Connect to the dash cam using Wi-Fi or a hotspot Go to Dash Cam Settings Select Camera Settings Select Rotate Video to correct the orientation of the video Select Flip Video to correct the orientation of the video
@@ThisIsJulianC Thank you
serisouly speaking, the sensor shield is much easy to clean than the shutter
I can only speak to my own experience, sensor dust is dramatically reduced when there is a blind closed over the sensor every time a lens is changed. If/when you do need to clean the sensor it’s just as easy, just less frequent. You should never consider touching or attempting to clean a shutter mechanism.

With some limitations yes that’s possible, so long as you have the Parking Guard power cable.

Thank you for making this video, it really helped me.
Glad it helped!
Totally with you on the need to be careful what gear to take, as some of it is ‘secret’.
😁
What about the drive assist features? Worthwhile for an older vehicle?
I tried the forward collision warning, it has more false positives than the system on my Ford, so I silenced it. If you have no other system in your car then it’s worth using.
I trail run and also do Spartans, etc. Running with a stick is not an option for me. What was wrong with the version 3
I'll trail run with a short pole but I never use a camera when racing. X3 is a good 360 camera but the reframed footage resolution was rarely good enough to use IMO. X4 is still not 4K when reframed but at approx 2.7K (depending on how much you reframe) it is much better and more usable.
I'll be traveling to Peru in late January to early February and heading up north to our family's beach house. I will be getting the a7CR and the Sony 16-35mm F4 PZ G lens on loan from Sony. The other lenses I'll be taking will be my Sony 24 1.4 GM and Sony 85mm 1.8. I do own the Sigma 50mm F2 Contemporary and MAY bring it as well but really trying to stay compact with the three aforementioned lenses. I own the a7iv and a9iii but excited to give this camera a rip and love the size and weight of the 1635 F4 PZ G - I've found I don't really need the faster aperture of the GM but am attracted to the smaller and lighter GM2 1635. Honestly, I doubt I will invest in the a7CR as my travel camera, despite helping keep a small and light kit but I just love how my a7iv feels. I've owned the Sony Zeiss 55 1.8 [twice] and like you said, always found it to be a bit too narrow, but the size, weight and IQ, it def fights above its weight class [albeit with some CR in images but easily addressed in post. I plan to create a review of my experiences with the CR and 1635 PZ - I plan to capture some time lapses of the beautiful sunsets above our beach house on this small mountain, along with great photos.
Sounds a great kit. Would be interested to hear what you think of A7CR after you return, same for the 16-35 PZ
@ I’ll follow up! Wanting to head to the Andes but it is the rainy season so we’ll see.
Thoughts on the Action 5 Pro and what settings are you using when running?
Video in the works right now on that. Headline - it’s a good running companion.
Whats your wirst size?
No clue sorry! This is a Fenix 7X / 51mm.
Thanks.
You're welcome
