@@techychristen well it was kinda expected considering that ZV-e10 was when i came to Japan. In any case, it's an amazing camera and if you don't shoot S-LOG3 and colour correct and grade later on, it's perfectly fine. Plus the new MK2 uses the bigger battery so you'll have to upgrade your FF camera to keep battery compatibility.

@@techychristen Tamron lenses are the best "value for money" lenses. They offer great functionality at a reasonable price, having compromises mostly in aspects where you can take them easier. I can highly recommend the 28-200 - unbelievable image quality at such a long range. Or the 28-75 G2 which is 1/3 of the 24-70 G-Master Mark II, leaving very little you could wish for. The 35 2.8 has to be seen in two different ways: 1) AF performance and 2) everything else. If you use it for photos only, it's great without any real downside. Let's take the good things first: IQ is very good (you can put this in capitals: VERY GOOD :D), it is lightweight, you can go very very close to your subject, it has very little distortion and CAs are well controlled. Optically, this is not a 180€ lens. From what I have seen, it is optically one of the best 35mm on Sony E. It is sharp from f2.8 on from corner to corner with its peak at 5.6 where it is basically razor sharp with perfect contrast (however, even contrast is nearly perfect right at 2.8). Its lens hood is very smart, too: It has an unusual form factor, so it doesn't add any length to your lens > very compact. Handling is great, because it isn't one of these big 35/1.4 lenses (Samyang and Sigma, of example), but it is bigger than the other 35/2.8 (Samyang, Sony Zeiss) so that you have a very solid grip while not being overly big or heavy. The downside of the close focusing ability is the AF performance. As you might have heard, most (semi/pseudo/full) macro lenses have slower AF performance because they have to go quite long distances in the lens body to get from nearest to furthest. I'll put it that way: The focus is good, if it is not too dark. It is not silent however, you will hear a clicking noise if it adjusts. In photo mode, I would just use DMF focus mode, let it focus automatically at first and then you can adjust it manually if lighting is complicated and it hunts. In video mode, well, that's another story. I would not use AF in video mode. First, because of the clicking sound and second, because it is doesn't really stop, it is readjusting all the time, tiny micro readjustments. You can watch this in Dustin Abbott's review of the lens. He's generally a very reliable source for lens testing. However, if you want the "talking head style", you can just set focus speed to "slow", this makes it much more relaxed and quiet. But on the A7 II, you can't set the focus speed for video as far as I remember. What I mostly do is I set my focus before starting the record and then lock it via AF/MF switch. The AF is a topic where you have to get used to this lens. It's not one of these "just click record" and it's silent, fast and perfect. If you know how to use it, it doesn't make a big downside because everything else that you get for your money is just really good. I had this lens as my first prime on the A7 II and taking photos with it was no problem at all. Quality was great. Even on my 7R III with 43 MP, you don't feel like this lens is bad or cheap. It's just a clicking lens with not the newest AF. But, if you read my text above that's somewhat normal because a lens can't be 200 bucks and be perfect. There are lenses for more money that are optically worse (just to give you some examples: Sony's 24-105 G at a price of 1350€ suffers from horrible CAs, while Samyang's 50/1.4 Mk II at 600€ isn't sharp at all up until f2.5, has very weak close-up performance and suffers from horrible CA). Tamron decided to give you a lens that is optically very good and can focus very close, they cut off the modern AF. If that was in there, it would be on par with a GM lens and that can't be at this price point. Personally, I use this lens the most. It is very versatile and gives great results. I decided that it's worth to work around the AF thing. You won't get a better optics lens for this money.
