@@CoreyTurcotte True their are many ways to skin a cat. We get a solid 6 months of freezing and wild fires out West, have pushed woodpecker East and make the wife unhappy. You know the saying. I have had every lumbar procedures know to man and have had 7 days of relief scattered over 12 years, making raising the ladder the worst. Wife sold scaffolding at garage sale. I find myself in depression and sometimes mad hiding in the garage. Use what works as I bought some 28oz. treated fiberglass to place under cementitaious coat treated with adhesive promoter. Then finish. Deer fence is cheap and laid on cardboard, I use a roller & paint to match the field, both sides. When SS stapled two inches away from the wall on bottom of soffit (touch-up staples) it becomes invisible. The birds hate it as it is like coated fishing line with 1/4" squares. I cut 1/2" PVC white pipe creating 4 quarters and simply weaved it across the bottom for wind control. I have never heard any noise and too lite to leave a mark. The birds can't grab the wall as the invisible fence keeps moving. I guess it's better than ballon's, CD's, foil or plastic owls. lol. Looking for a Dr who wants more money! Have a lucky one!

@@2cents859 Use Deer Netting painted on cardboard or plastic the same color as the field. Let it drive and paint other side. Using 3/8" PVC tubing, cut in quarters. Weave this thru bottom and staple under soffit 2" away from wall. This moves and spooks birds as deer netting is 1/4" squares like fishing mono-filament encapsulated in a plastic polymer. Very light weight and when folded, staple to soffit to keeps woodpeckers of wall. Making repairs is aggravating, costly and slightly. But in this era of having a thermos bottle type insulation adding R14 to exterior walls reduce energy bills by 2/3rds and sound by 3/4. Then these birds that have a tongue that wraps around their brain and exits on the bottom. It acts as a muscle to aid in pecking. This action is for eating, nesting and attracting a mate. I am trying to stop two of three.

Regarding the woodpeckers, it’s true that many species are protected, including some in Michigan. We do repairs so most of the time it depends on what was originally used. We do our best to match the existing. The top coat is much easier to match if you do.

From my 30 years of experience in EIFS stucco repairs, I've often seen projects get complicated because an EIFS specialist was not involved from the start. Regarding your question about drainage, it seems there may be some confusion. The mesh in the drawing is not intended for drainage; it's actually a fiberglass mesh that is embedded in the basecoat to provide structural integrity. Vertical ribs on the back side of the foam are created using a notch trowel to create natural drainage channels, as depicted in the drawing. @@CoreyTurcotte Thank you for clarifying! I have a "EIFS" installation on my house that is rotting away. But when I cut away some caulk to dry an area out after a freak rainstom had water arcing over a walkway and down into a covered area with gaps, I discovered there was no foam seen, but instead was like a pegboard that the stucco was attached to, and it was rotting away. I have to figure out how to replace this mess and deal with windows that are recessed slightly behind this very thin layer. Someone also told me that EIFS for homes was not being covered by insurance now. Not sure if that's true, but not a good sign for the industry if true. Again, thank you for taking time to clarify.

You would be surprised at how many customers let the trees grow wild

California stucco works great in warmer climates but 30 freeze thaw cycles every year is not ideal for traditional stucco as it turns out

The vines that grow right into the synthetic stucco is even worse.

It is suggesting that you inspect the stucco before you make a huge investment
