Udon on his second day of driving he did really well he was a little unsure of the road work truck on the way back but was able to get over it.

it's like it starts where video should end.
how much weight does it put on the dogs backs?
It has an adjustable seat slide so you move the seat back behind the axle to the point where you're lifting on the dog usually about 8 lb of lift there's no weight on the dogs back. If you watch my video on adjusting the lift that might help you see how it works better.

Plz guide me with more imfirmation on building! I get disability but i do want to try and build one! I just need a littttle more detail on parts,like can.i use a tractor sest with arm rest!And if i start building and send you pivtures as i go will you kinda guide me to the best of your time and ability on here! I was going to.lowes to try and buy some of the supplies! Thebtravtor seats have a wsy of securing ,is that ok? And how far back should i measure the seat to go back on the wood bottom? I was reading where the seat should go further back some! But how do.i know how far back? Can i send you pictures as i go? Imjust a gurl,with nobody but me and my dogs! And im not getting any younger and my dogs want to.pull so bad! Im.59 and i havr been mesding around with so.many.ideas i have parts everywhere but i just get so confused but my idea for building isnt just for the fun for my dogs,but rather because i went to our local dog pound for the first time in years and i had just watched your utube video diy sulky and when i saw the number of pitbull mix breed dogs that were all caged up ,i thought,you know witj the bad reputation of pitbull dogs everywhere mixed or not,they all have a hard time beimg homed! Since that day i cant get my mimd off your diy sulky,because most people dont have tje time and energy to be anle to walk these high energy dogs and i thought ,people are afraid to walk them,because of other dogs maybe comimg up to them! So i thought with the sulky ,they are kinda in a submission or in a line and om a mission to run or listen to commands! And in one hour you could exersize two or three pitbull mix breed dogs and no problems with that! So i wanted to show off and present this sport witj fliers explaining how to get involved and adopt a pitbull mix at the pound! I need.help to make my first sulky so we can free up some dogs who are.just misinformed on how these dogs just wanna serve and plz and the sulky could be the one thing to make people say hey this just might work!! @@I_want_White_Cheddar_Popcorn it doesn’t seem like he hates his owner because of it in the earlier videos, and this is probably not the first time the dog has done that, which would explain why he seems uninterested
He is happy doing the work but he wants to get back to the top of the hill with Grampy and the rain was a bit of a bummer for all of us.

You need a small third wheel where the feet are. That is WAY too much weight on his back and a small area, especially if it's an adult.
The seat is on a adjustable slide behind the axle there is no weight on the dog there is lift depending how far the seat is back determines the amount of lift.
@@Artoftheguppie Yes, that is the theory, but that is not what was happening in the video. If you don't realize that even that child's weight is too much, I doubt the adults do either. It's unnecessary to leave it to chance. Uneven terrain can cause the back to be jabbed with that setup too. With shafts that is not an issue, but you essentially have a blunt spear over the spine. One wrong bounce and you hurt the dog. It's just not necessary to take the risk.
@@climateanxiety2825 there is lift on the harness it's hard to grasp in a video but trust me the dogs prefer the dorsal shaft to side shafts. There is also a hard plate in the harness and padding.
@@Artoftheguppie What exactly does the harness "lift" against? And yes, I know there is a plate. That does not spread the pressure over a large enough area. Also, last time I checked, dogs don't talk, and people are not that great at interpreting body language. Clearly. This is simple physics. If it wasn't you would have seen Horse carriages made the same way, and even with horses you make sure the weight is off the harness. You also have no real argument against a wheel. The simple fact is that the child has his weight forward which puts his weight on an area of the back that is only a few inches, making it harmful. You have no real argument against using a wheel which would mean there was never pressure on the dog's back. Dog's backs are not meant to carry that kind of weight. Even a miniature horse can only carry about 25 pounds, and that is spread over a much larger area.
@@climateanxiety2825 the dorsal shaft sulky was designed by a horse Sulky designer. The three wheel design like the K9 cart that is on the market is dangerous because when the dog gets going the side to side motion eventually causes the front wheel to break off. Busy grooming session for completely adorable puppies. They are so lovely and we're so good, lots of praise and interaction with them. You must have enjoyed that session. I bet all of you had a good sleep.
I wana get into dog cart pulling due to my " inherited " " puppy" ( year old mali/ german shep mastiff / lab. Lol. He is huge and not enough exercise and manners cause hes bored. I have hip pain and cant walk him the time and distance he needs. So i thought train him to a cart..( i weigh about 120..he weighs 75 + lbs and growing ..if he can pull metal trailor home porch down the road with ease..lol im sure he can pull me no problem. 4 stairs going down thr road at a good clip..funny now but not then..they are heavy. Pulled a guy 175 lbs walking him around me 127 . Lol he needs to have a " job" .

Never would've thought I could train my dog this way.
Lot's of short training sessions to start and if you can practice ground driving on the sidewalk it helps give them a idea where to go.

The rod I use for the axle is 5/8 in solid steel rod the wheels have bearings built in.
@@Artoftheguppie Thanks. I meant where the dog harness attaches to the sulky. I've been building one for a couple months, and I'm trying to figure out how to finish the tongue end so it attaches to your harness I ordered. :) I appreciate your help.

I used to train horses and did driving with miniature horses in college I trained my two 20 lb dogs to pull a cart before these guys but they weren't big enough to pull me 😂.
