Shop Sabre tech service found a setting in the vfd that wasn't set right. EMI filter wasn't on even though i kept saying IMF filter in the video.

Doing some projects with the Shop Sabre
I bought an rc8 with tool changer in 2020, and Have been not happy with it from day one. Didnt work out the box like you I was told it was a problem on my end no way that it was the machine, surprise surprise it was the machine. Got it running and it just doest cut well, I saw one in person and cut great mine does not cut the same, when I asked about how to get it to cut like the one I saw in person I was told I bought the wrong machine and should adjust my expectations by Brandon. My shaepoko 3 which is belts and v wheels could achieve a better edge finish than my rc8. Every little issue I had was blamed on something in my setup initially and then after hours on the phone it was something they messed up each time. I know it is a "budget" machine but I spent over 35k on it to be told oh well you made the wrong decision, within 3 month of owning it.
Im sorry to hear that. Shop sabre is definitely not the company they say they are.
Glad to see that they take customer service so seriously I want to own a ShopSaber someday because the machine is only as good as the service behind it
Im starting to wonder about their customer service as for ive had numerous shop sabre owners commented on my video that they were not getting anywhere with cutomer service. The squeeky wheel gets the grease in most cases.
Don’t they test run machines before they send them out? When we build a car we drive it before we sell it. A lot.
They say they test the machines "rigorously". I said the same thing when i was having problems.
When a company is three hours away and they have the problems you had they should come and look at it. Not doing so is not good customer service.
I was just about to get a RC8... Thanks for your video... I will no more will consider that company...
It was very frustrating and since i posted this video people have been co tacting me with their shop sabre problems . I try to help but i always tell them you need to contact shop sabre. It seem to be a company that is typical for this day and age. What route did you go?
Decided to go with another company. Thanks for your great video…
It doesn’t seem to me that tech support is so good. Especially when they won’t send anybody only 3 hours away after all you went through.
it has gotten worse
I don;t have any issues with my machine but just be aware that they will bend you over...no lube....when anything breaks or you want to upgrade.
Good to know. They are not what they say they are for sure.
Do you know if they address the problem since?
I know they went back to the factory to check all vfd's.
these are very technical machines, both mechanical and electrical. It can be so frustrating trying to solve problems, as you experienced. Posting your video benefits all. As another poster mentioned, sometimes we only hear about the good, which does not seem right. Hopefully your machine will run trouble free for a long time and this will be a small glitch on the radar screen.... thx for sharing, I too was considering ShopSabre
Honestly I was on the fence about shopsaber… but scared of that exact issue being a total beginner that would of crippled me
It wasnt a good experience but like everything, there is a learning curve. The biggest thing is how bad things have gotten out of hand price wize, and i have to be practical about the size and cost of the machine that we could use. If there is anything you have a question about let me know. Lawton
@@sawmilldesigns123 thanks I appreciate the offer !
I was in the same boat a few years ago when I decided to go with ShopSabre after extensive research. I will say I am glad every day that I made that decision. While the durability and quality of these machines is very good for the price, the customer service support for hardware and software issues is phenomenal and likely equal to or better than the highest end machines (and for a lifetime). You will soon realize customer service with one of these machines is as important if not more so than the machine itself. You can be dead in the water with a machine 3 times the cost if the culture and customer service is not right there to help you through an issue. I had no issues with the machine when I received and installed it, but I did have a list of relatively simple design improvements to improve the customer experience. I would highly recommend ShopSabre to anyone.
@@polobbie I bought mine in 2006 as a total noob to cnc. I totally agree with everything you just said. I also had a frustrating experience at first but with everything said and done I was very happy with my choice in the end. A solid machine at a good price backed by good customer service.
i build lot plasma tables . First i say the motors you have there . are servos made buy Technick Clear path servo . They use a small step direction voltage 5V to control them from the controller . so using high grade shielded cable is necessary. Only ground the shield on 1 end not booth This problem you have very common. Most oem builders don't use high quality shielded cable like Beldon machine control cable it more flexible the shield rating 100 percent . theirs even double shielded . this is not cheap cable . Cheap vfd put out noise . The Win cnc controller old tech uses paradelle port pc cards . more noise . newer stuff ethernet . there you have it get piece high quality machine grade cable buy Beldon 16 guage double shielded . the wire is also tined no bare copper . newark electronics . Wire cable your way should have the good stuff . or just google it . There quite a few retro fits on centroid acorn forms were guys had it with win cnc going acorn because of problems like this . plus way mor control features
Just wanting to let people know about the upgradability of shopsabre machines. I have operated mine for approximately one year now. I am trying to ad a laser attachment. Here if a playlist of my experience with shopsabre. ruclips.net/p/PLbNQ_U8zw3smxdczrm65Qg6-_ddjdG_ga
Did they send you a check?
Nope. And I had to call them last week because the problem is back. So I'm not real happy
@@sawmilldesigns123 Oh that's too bad...and I see this vid is a year old. I've been wanting to buy one.. Almost did this week.
Just wanted to say thank you for that info. I have been looking very hard at shop Sabre. All I have seen is good but I know there are issues with any machine and like you I am the one to get that machine. I bought a cnc plasma from langmuire. As soon as I got it there was nothing but issues. They had me testing every wire on that machine. Changed servo motors. Changes plug in on the back of monitor and after a week of this back and forth on the phone I said I am all set being the test guy for your issues. I want a complete new monitor slash control board. And to their credit… they said they understand and sent one. Finally I was able to turn it on and run the gantry back and forth and do the break in. But. They stood behind their produce and took care of me. And it has worked great ever since. your experience no one can understand unless they have been their done that. So I appreciate your honest review and also your demeanor and not bashing shop Sabre. That takes a good man and good human to keep your real feelings in check when going public. Thanks again for this video
Everything man made will eventually more then likely have a problem. Im glad there are still people out there that understand that you have to be humane when troublshooting and dealing with people. At the end of the day if your mean with people they will remember you and not want to deal with you. Im glad my video helped you, and i do think shop sabre is a great machine and i haven't had problems since.
@@sawmilldesigns123 I agree. I was frustrated myself but like you said being nice goes a long way. And I never said anything negative to the people I spoke to. I did tell them however it’s extremely frustrating and irritating when you buy something brand new and it does work from the very start. They definitely stood behind their product and it looks like shop Sabre does too 😊
Stupid question, but if this was brand new and under warranty why didn't shop sabre come out to you and repair it?
They would not come out. They would only walk you through the problem and diagnosis on the phone. And i was so frustrated that i was 1 day away from loading it up and taking it back.
@@sawmilldesigns123 I completely understand. We are looking at getting a new CNC machine and are considering which to go with. The price tag is appealing, however.....
had rc8 5 years. best day ever when sold.
What machine are you running now?
@@sawmilldesigns123 camaster panther .
the rc (router crafter) is hobby cnc they should of told ya to by their pro line for business...
Where can I purchase the EMI filter and I believe you called the other part a fairright? I also have the shop sabre plasma table and every once and a while the z axis just dives into the metal. If this solves my problem I'll be forever grateful!
I purchased the emi filter and the ferrites right off ebay. There are ferrites on almost every charging device everyone has but didnt know what it was. I ordered a variety ferrite pack that will do most wire sizes. Any other questions you have feel free to ask. Lawton
in most cases emi filters dont solve problem . your wire in your controller and how mfg wire them . is what solve problems . AC line filters are a must
Do you have a video of your cnc fail or broquen?
The problem appeared to be a broken shield i side the insulation. I would have to cut the cable open in order to find the break. Theres no guarantee that if i did cut the cable open that i would be able to see the break. So sorry no pics or videos of the problem.
Si sube videos donde trabaja y cuando fallo
I only speak english sorry.
@@sawmilldesigns123 there is now a translation button. “Says if you upload videos where it works and when it fails”
You have pics or video of what the issue was?
I dont have a pic of the problem. But the problem was a bad shield on the cable that supplies the spindle from the vfd causing interference to the stepper motors. I could post a video of what i had to do to to learn and isolate the problem if you would like.
