It’s interesting that people say it acts like a mini greenhouse, it’s very thin plastic with holes in. I put a smart thermometer in mine last year and found it had no noticeable temperature difference to the outside. Winter sowing definitely works but bearing in mind the flowers tend to be ‘cool’ varieties that can self seed and do well just in the soil without any intervention from us seems to suggest that they would do fine whatever we did. Probably keeping snow directly off the soil is helpful and with the air gap snow and ice is going to melt quicker than it would laying on soil directly.

The first time I used whey in baking, it made the bread tasted almost like urine. It was horrible. I'm not sure why it was so strong, but we'll try again.
