I'm Mathew Burns. I write travel narratives and produce video series that chronicle big trips: a Rhine River cruise gone awry, plus big ballpark trips in California, the Carolinas, and the Pacific Northwest.

Great videos! I watched the Northwest Baseball Trip series again and again, and I am planning on a trip like this one as i am currently going to school in Seattle. Keep it up!!!!
This ITT was so much better when the first game
I've enjoyed watching these videos. I've enjoyed your take on the midwest ballparks. Thanks!
I’ve been to 11 shorebirds games it’s pretty fun to go watch
I haven't seen a game with my dad since 1993 reds vs dodgers riverfront stadium. But I love watching you guys have those special moments.
Thank you so much!! Great baseball travelogue......
Thank you for sharing the footage of this trip Matt. I enjoyed every part of it. I am looking forward to next year's trip.
Your dad said it best, there is nothing better! Hope to “map the path” with my daughters someday. Thank you for sharing.
So glad you had a great time!! Let us know the next time you’re coming back. 😊
Please come to a Korean baseball stadium someday
So do you buy a hat for every game you go to? If so, your hat collection must be insane.
These videos have inspired me - one day I hope to visit some of these ballparks!
This item was not written on a piece that I was going through with a client and was very difficult 😣 I’m itchy now though lol
The Normal Cornbelters is such a good team name! 😂
It is so great to see how your father is enjoying this. Thanks for sharing again.
Glad you enjoyed your stop in Akron! Feel free to come back anytime!
I think I should have written about the bad luck charm thing at an earlier stage. ;-) Thank you for sharing Matt.
Thanks for sharing again. I enjoyed the video very much. It seems to me that you are not a lucky charm for most of the home teams this year. 😞
Thanks! It gets better for the home teams as we go!
It’ll take you a yearly check up 🔝 on the other side and what you have done it’ll take a little bit more with a couple more days of rest and some sleep 🛏️ to keep your body from feeling like you are still tired 🥱 but I know it was good for a little while and I don’t euruwyr❤ you know that you were 😂
While PK Park is a great beautiful ballpark for a major state university, it is significantly short of the new MLB standards being enforced upon affiliated MiLB teams. During a recent playoff series the Emeralds had to postpone a playoff game because the Oregon Ducks football team was playing in the football stadium adjacent to PK Park. Unfortunately the previous ballpark burned to the ground more than a decade ago, forcing the Emeralds to lease the university's ballpark. Eugene failed to pass a modest $15 million bond issue for a new stadium that would meet the MLB new standards, and thus the Emeralds will be forced to relocate to another city...
Yeah, the failed bond was a big disappointment.
I played at that field today. We are the cannons fastpitch
Planning to go to Victory Field this week. This was a nice preview. Enjoyed the video.
Love your videos! Bummer about the rain on this one. I'm doing a bunch of baseball trips as well (cumulative count =59 parks) and have had 3 rain postponements without a single pitch thrown
I wish you could come down and do a Texas League roadtrip which has beautiful minor league baseball parks. There isn't a bad ballpark in the league. Great highway drives if you avoid I-35, use US-281 instead and avoid all those large trucks in Texas...
I've definitely looked into it and have a good list of candidates for the Southwest. We'll see what schedules look like, but I expect we'll be there in the next few seasons. It looks like May is the best time to go.
Cheers!
Great ball park!
It’s always a good time in traverse city
Also last night I went down to Salisbury MD to see the Delmarva Shorebirds
That stadium is very nice
The production value gets better with every road trip. I love this series, please keep making them!
Good crowd.
When you did the Mid-Atlantic Baseball Road Trip, you could have visited the Trenton Thunder
Yes, it was on our radar, but I wanted to get as many MiLB ballparks as possible this time around.
@@mappingthepath5851 The funny thing is that the Trenton Thunder used to be a Minor League team
@@mappingthepath5851 The Trenton Thunder used to be the AA affiliate of the New York Yankees
So glad that team is gone now. They did us and everyone in Gastonia dirty.
I will always be salty that MLB chose this new, shiny, and empty ballpark (866 in attendance - that's Florida State League levels of bad) instead of keeping the Kane County Cougars in MiLB. The Cougars draw 5-6x the "crowds" that show up in Beloit. Look, Beloit took it hard over the last few years, and spent far too much on the ballpark, but I though attendance mattered as much as a shiny ballpark. Ah well. MLB seems happy with 3-figure crowds, and the American Association certainly must like the atmosphere in Geneva.
I get your point about Kane County. Beloit averaged 1,606 in 2023, and this was a rain-delayed Wednesday night game, so definitely not representative. But yeah, Kane County averaged 5,228 in their final MiLB year.
Also the stadium is also build for other entertainment venues. So I would argue it’s a multi purpose stadium and not just for MILB baseball
Once again, thank you for sharing Matt. How many caps do you have now? I guess, if you buy a cap at each visit of a ballpark, your collection may be rather impressive.
I'm up to 75 MiLB/Independent/Collegiate Summer League hats, and yep, one for each stop. I still have some gaps in the collection that will go on the Christmas list.
Also you should do a Northeast Baseball Road Trip like up by Hartford
I agree!
@@mappingthepath5851 I really love your videos. Keep up the good work
For the Northeast Baseball Road Trip you could visit the Erie Seawolves, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Syracuse Mets, Buffalo Bisons, Toronto Blue Jays, Portland Sea Dogs, New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Worcester Red Sox, Boston Red Sox, and the Hartford Yard Goats.
@@Connorivory-zz1sn All great options. I have a My Maps file showing those plus Indy/collegiate ballparks in the Northeast region that have at least some bucket seats (which Dad needs).
Enjoying your videos! I visited ABC Supply Stadium a few months ago as part of my quest to visit all MLB/MiLB parks (current count is 54 current parks + 15 former)
Have you ever thought about going to the Texas League? The Frisco Roughriders stadium has a figure eight lazy river in left field.
A Southwest Baseball Road Trip is in my future and would definitely include Frisco!
Love the cougars games! Been going since I was 9 and still going almost 30 years later! So much fun for myself and my kids.
You should do a Florida State Baseball Road Trip
It's on the list!
You could also visit Minor League Stadiums in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas.
@@mappingthepath5851For the Florida State Baseball Road Trip, you can visit the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Lakeland Flying Tigers, Dunedin Blue Jays, Clearwater Threshers, Tampa Tarpons, Bradenton Marauders, Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, St Lucie Mets, Palm Beach Cardinals, Jupiter Hammerheads, and the Daytona Tortugas.
Glad to see you including the Independent teams in your series. There is lots of talent there which needs exposure just like the kids in MiLB.
Agreed! And the vibe is often at least as fun, with crowds that outpace many MiLB teams
We want new update
Thanks for sharing Matt. I have been looking forward to this new trip.
The baseball road trip series is back!!! Hope you guys enjoy!!!
Nice video, we're heading there on 7/12
Great series! I really enjoyed it.
Nice video, stumbled upon looking up the stadium to take my son. Excellent production value.
Thank you! My own son does the animation and music!
I was there for a Ryan Howard bobblehead about 15 years ago. I loved it
Heard about you from Minor League Fan Club. Im glad i found you!
I’m going on June 6
I think it it’ll probably just take I don’t have the money it’s not that much money is just waiting on the truck for the truck to come and take me out and I have no money isn’t that what I’m
