Funny times in Waterloo

Scenes from Waterloo (1970) featuring Donal Donnelly and Christopher Plummer. For fun purposes only. This video includes scenes about O’Connor (portrayed by Donal Donnelly) and his absurd promotion in the war. Napoleon aside, he is the most interesting and well portrayed character in the movie (and of course the funniest). I must admit I had not seen this movie until recently. Someone in the pr...

Septimus Pyecroft (portrayed by Nigel Betts) is one of the most fascinating characters of Sharpe Saga, and he tells us about what good old soldiering is. By the way, the quote "not soldiering" is in fact all Sharpe's doing. Scenes are from Sharpe's Mission (1996). For entertainment purposes only.

Firefly funny scene: I was aiming for his head
Calvet is anything but gluttonous, his pain is immeasurable when you realise the man grew up starving his entire life, he got lucky being a General, even if its light infantry
For all their faults, the generation of officers who had a shot at being more than fodder had much respect for the position, some of them
why are fat french people known as gaston?
what kind of soup was that? it looked...clear.
He just gave him a little soup.
i missed the days of hollywood movies when the writing and dialogue wasnt so cliche and simple minded.
Gaston faking poisoning was great humor. Loved it.
a
I am a fan of Sharpe , ive probably watched all of the episodes many times, you see different things each time, great fun albeit gory at times. R
Hair loss was no exception even during the Napoleonic War
I am getting a sense that if Calvet and Gaston were born in modern time and had participated in any modern war, they would have been a popular part of veterans' reunions.
He is always eating - like Brad Pitt in oceans 11
It’s a shame they changed Calvet’s actor. The original guy absolutely smashed it
4:33 The passengers on a flight getting their luggage out of the overhead as soon as the plane stops.
They sound like the Brits in "Asterix in Britain"😂😂😂😂
No soup for you
General Calvet was a very likable and honorable character. A great opponent for Sharpe.
The French army at that time was the only army in Europe in which the officers weren’t aristocrats and as matter of fact half of Napoleons Marshall which was the top military grad just before the emperor himself were born as commoners, Maréchal Ney was born in poverty and he started out as a volunteer in the French army. One was even homeless for a time. The other Europeans monarchies saw these as insults as putting lowborn even Napoleon was considered lowborn being from a minor noble house in a French annexed territory in charge of such a power and noble nation as France.
This movie taught me that it’s a bad policy to stay near a tree in a thunderstorm. It attracts the bolt!
@1:08 the subordinate dunking his bread in the general's soup is the most bro move i think i've seen
Sharpe dropping an attitude adjustment on lying officers, that's soldiering
* speaking French * MAJOR GENERAL ROSS * continues speaking french *
Calvert was an honorable man and a skilled general. And it is very likely that without the revolution he would have been starving in a slum.
Average Blood & Iron sapper:
Did they just eat raw mushrooms?
I always loved those two. The general is for all it's worth a good guy, competent and cares about his men. The main reason he can't score a victory is because his adversary is Sharpe. ... and looking ont the show's title, it's not called 'Calvet' :D
medieval ahh haircut
The origin story of The Lone Ranger. At first, he was a blood thirsty British ogre but he had a bacterial infection in his throat and a tincture of silver that cured him. Then he vowed that he would only use silver bullets and only shoot the guns out of bad guys' hands.
I've never expected to see Batman in the Sharpe series. What a crossover.
General Calvet and Gaston seem like a cool guys!
There should have been a seperate TV show about Calvet and Victor tbh.
"...because I remember when I had no soup." That right there frames this a whole other way. That and he had survived to Moscow and back.
it's even more hardcore it transaltes as "...because I remember when I had no meals."
@@richardericsen9768 I KNOW THAT thank you, Captain Obvious. You're not the only person with more than a single brain cell you know.
Was it bad Gaston?
He's a general!!
Why did he shoot the last guy?
I'm just saying...a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup ain't that bad of a meal. Poor food and good food are not mutually exclusive.
The soup is just a clear broth of water. 😂
Gaston!!!
The chap that steals the pig dies in the battle, but his death scene was cut unfortunately
I’d like to think that he survives.
how do you know? i need an answer where did you find it
@godzillaenjoyer1299 the book about the making of the film
so gaston joined the imperial army and became a fat cook after that terrible ordeal with Belle and the Beast XD
"Raise him to Corporal" After that someone said: "Next time get a Goat and you are a Sergeant!"
Now I can Imagine the British walking in the trench while drinking tea
Well, sir, upon hearing that General Calvet was going indulge in a few meals, I naturally sat down and joined him for soup, that's my style, sir!
He’s good value. And his mate, legend 😂
oyun adı galiba
I eat soup with every meal because i take a dump while eating it.
and still, this didn't answer my age old question: the current Gaston, which number was he ?!!! i mean he is a corporal, and since Calvet ate does in Russia... you know what i mean, the mind wonders and it must know !!! nice to hear these in French, the only watchable version on youtube has Spanish subs... thank god i understand french !!!
I could have watched a whole movie with Calvert and Gaston just hanging out and eating.
"as soon as i knew the french had bad powder, i went on to tell them. I told them to try to kill me with that so i could convince them to surrender, that's my style sir!"
Calvet is looks like Marshall Davout
