Etude 105 from The Rudimental Drummer
Every note is a flam. Watch out for the non alternating flams near the end. Please excuse the unplanned stick click near the beginning, I didn't want to record again just for that click.

Two-Way Gridded Paradiddle
Просмотров 4714 дней назад
The two-way gridded paradiddle. The first time through, grid the flam every measure while the accent moves every four measures. On the repeat, move the accent every measure and grid the flam every four measures. The two way grid is something I invented many years ago to improve my coordination.

Flamtastic! Flamalicious! Flamcredible! and all those flam words. Great work as usual Rick. Keep 'em coming.
Old guys unite. Ha! We should have a t-shirt made- "Old Guys Can Still Drum".
Rick so much admiration for your drumming I once marched in an alumni drum and bugle corps also now I was asking you to give me a buddy rich exercise to work on written out so I can get my chops back again I watch you drum and it inspires me I saw buddy rich live and he showed me what a drummer is all about so could you write out a buddy rich pattern for ray thank you
Thank you for your kind words. However, I'm not sure what you mean by writing out a Buddy Rich pattern for you. I'm a rudimental drummer, not a jazz drummer.
How about a breakdown of Flam nam bu lus
@@michaelcharette2234 I filmed flamnambulous about 15 years ago. It is already on my channel.
amazingly precise playing! this is one of the hardest solos in the NARD book for sure. i'm sure frank arsenault would be proud
jesus christ.
crazy chops!
Freakin awesome. 2004 WGI independent world champion here and I can’t even play the quad break (or probably even flam drags) we won with 20 years ago lol. I salute you sir.
Still playing matched.
good awesome
we need sheet music for this
To be performed over a carpeted surface. Ha! Great trick Rick. Keep 'em coming. God bless!
Nice!
Still has it. Been a LONG time since USM days.
@@BobFayard hey Bobby, it’s been a long time.
Terrible
You could have played it without being such a showoff especially mean mugging into the camera and high stick twirling.....
@gerardfenn3988 5 hours ago Who are you voting for??? Trump or Kamela Chicago, My wife and I voted yesterday for Trump/Vance
Now I'll use sticks.
sick stick trick!
this isn't sped up?
Watch out, that one part your sticks were clicking together.
This is fire, man! Respect!
Did you win the '81 I&E snare title? If not who did?
Well done, Sir. Respect.
This is insane 👍
Superb technique. (John S. Pratt taught our drumline in the 70s)
Excellent!
Chop daddy!
How tight are your springs?
!Nice! Louie Bellson would be proud!!
fire
Kids these days and all of their stick tricks! Hahahaha! No seriously, that was awesome!
I have a Frankenstein-Ed Premier - pretty sure whatever model you were playing on.
IM IN SHOCK!!

NARD book of solos
NARD book of solos
Bro... WHAT!? I thought them was camera tricks! You're a legend my cat! #inspiration
Hi Rick, I played xylophone in 81 and I remember you were an amazing snare drummer. Where did you place?
I placed 7th. I played early in the morning, at like 8am, and never got a chance to warm up before playing my solo that was maxed out on difficulty. What corps did you play in?
So I guess you could play wipe out but with inverted flam paradiddles?
Absolutely amazing ok one question for you Rick did you ever play drum set reason why I ask I am a big big fan of the late buddy rich is it possible for you to show me a chop endurance exercise that could lead from slow to fast I respect and honor you please dedicate it to boom thank you rick
Without a doubt so impressive visuals in drum corps mean so much you are a master technician I admire you now the last time I saw and heard something like this when I saw buddy rich play a set of drums in Monroeville pa he did cross sticking and super human drumming that impressed me
Fabulous!! Love watching and hearing you play!!
That’s right… your great uncle is up to way cooler stuff than you think.
YOU ARE SO GOOD
Did not expect that
My friend, i can't even remember my solos from 12 years ago. Nice chops.
Maestro, usted es inigualable.
Cool. I have no idea what you did but it is impressive.👍🥁
Aaron The little drummer boy aint got nothing on you. Well, his drum did make the animals dance...So...😂
More please!
