Hey Michael. Congrats on the new addition to the family. Wishing you many happy father's days to come. Liked and subscribed in hopes that you make 1000 viewrs soon. And I absolutely love your coat of arms logo.
@timkaldahl thank you I appreciate the support.
Cool message at the end! Nice!
Highly underrated shoot only an hour away from me in Western Maryland. Great courses, fantastic targets on an unbelievably beautiful property...and all the poison ivy you want...lol. Great video too!
I just ordered this same bow from Amazon. They just raised the price of the Sanlida royal x8 to $149.99
@frank-hd6ts I was wondering when they would raise the price do to all the hype and reviews from some of the bigger youtubers in our community.
Just got that kit yesterday, the brace measured 5.5" out of the box - 50# bow - should I still be shooting for around 8"? Great review, thank you 🙏
@NewLife-qj9mx I found that between 7.75" and 8" was where mine likes to be with the new string i made. The recommended brace is 7.5"--8.5" according to the website. 5.5" to me is really short. Try twisting the string up and see if you can get it closer to 7.5" at least. The supplied bowstring may just be too long. For a 60in bow the string should be around 56-57in.
@@trad_root thank you 🙏
Awesome video Mike
Am I mistaken didn't you start with a left handed bow cuz at the end you shot right handed. 😮
@@garykemmerling919 right handed
some dude are behind the peg, other 1 foot towards the target. 1 dude just stepped in 1 whole meter close to the target. WTF are those rules )
@@crataegus2653 we shoot for fun. Don't keep track and have a good time..
good job thanks so cool 🤠
What bow are you shooting? Kinda looks like a Black Hunter, but I can tell that it is not one.
It's a striker sport longbow. 45# at 28in. strikerbows.com/product/striker-sport-tdl-60-takedown-longbow/
@@trad_root Yea, I can tell that it is a custom bow, but Black Hunter must have tried to make a copy of it.
Black hunter isn't a bad bow either. I've seen guys shoot it very accurately. One of the better starter bows in my opinion.
@@trad_root I've had seven different custom made bows. Limbs delaminated on two of them. I now shoot a Black Hunter longbow, and it shoots just as good (or better) than some of the custom bows I have owned.
At almost 80 years old, I had to go to a lighter bow, and I didn't want to pay the price for another custom bow. So I got the BH longbow, and I am pleased with it. For the price, it shoots just fine.
I did not see you this time like I did at Greencastle. Next shoot I will be at is Pine Hill shoot in Kennerdale July 11 thrue the 14. Darren
I'll look that one up. Is that the longbow association shoot?
@@trad_root No they will have 150 targets setup band on Sat night its a great shoot inexpensive
About four hours or so from me. Overnight shoot for sure
I will be there from Monday till the end
another good one buddy !!!!!! Way to keep it real. Big daddy has to lose some weight !
Great video 👍😁 Keep up your great work!💪🫵🤩 God Bless 🙏😇❤️🇺🇸
Nice Mike! Thanks for the shout-out and the kind words..
Great Honest Review! I have Sanlida Royal X8 Recurve & Longbow snd the only thing I used out the kit was the bow , made my own B55 flemish twist strings and arrows . Can't wait for the video of you making a flemish string ! Been shooting & hunting with traditional bows going into my 49th yr. I'm always learning something new watching Traditional Bow videos. Can still teach a old dog new tricks ! Keep the Great Videos Coming ! Stay Safe & Healthy ! God Bless !
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate you watching. I'm always trying to learn and improve as well. Sometimes, even just the smallest improvement can feel like leaps and bounds.
Way cool man 😎👍
FF compatible?
I cant say yes bc i dont know for sure. The limb tips are just some king of wood. May be able to use fast flight material strings but I would keep a close eye on the limb tips and the strings for wear.
I'm running fast flight no problem with it so far but stock string is D97. I would suggest have your string guy pad the loops.
@@trad_root understandable
I liked these arrows so much that I chopped them up with my tomahawk and threw them in the trash. My new 500sp Gold Tip Warriors shoot 100% better. I want to re-tiller my X8 to have even tiller. Should shoot better and quieter with my 3-under.
I plan to fix the centershot anyways so might tiller for 3 under also and drop the 3lbs down to actual 45lbs at 28. Overall the bow isn't bad and shoots the warriors I have pretty well.
Maybe try shortening the arrows, stiffen em up a bit.
I will be cutting the fletch off of one of the kit supplied arrows and bare shafting and changing the point weights. I would like to see if i can get them to fly better with some tweaking. The idea was to see if the bow out of the box was good enough for a beginner to start with. I would recomend the bow, not so much anything else that comes in the kit.
Nocks sound too tight!
WhAt spine are you shooting?
Not exactly sure of the spine for the sanlida arrows. I read they could be 500's. The pink fletching goldtip warriors are 600's and fly pretty well out of the royal x8.
The arrow’s the kit provides are 500 spine, but pretty heavy arrows. Close to 600 grains.
Heck yeah buddy 👍🏹😎
Nice job, Mike! If I didn't know any better, I would say that bow was a Damon Howatt Hi speed! Great looking bow for the money! The accessories that came with the bow are not great.. but it is a solid start! Best wishes my man!
the camera need to stay out a bit longer so its night vision can kick in like yours.
Congratulations Mike and Eagle-eye !!!!!!! That is wonderful news and I sure hope we will be seeing you guys at the end of the month in Sawmill
Thanks, buddy! Hope to be there Saturday. Maybe into Sunday.
Nice Job Mike !!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to catching up at the shoots this summer, be well
What arrows do you use? And what poundage is the bow?
600 spine goldtip warriors cut 28" carbon to carbon. 250 grains on the front. The bow at my draw of 26.5in is right around 43-44 lbs.
Smooth
Enjoyed meeting you and talking with you at the shoot. Sorry I interrupt your lunch lol. Darren
Didn't interrupt me bud. Great talk. Hope to see you again at another shoot.
Nice job bro.. the shooting looked amazing man! The camping looks nice!
Camping looked really nice. Not sure about a bath house though. The courses were pretty good. Didn't get to shoot the long course though.
@@trad_root glad you got out to explore new possibilities bro!
Never forget the sacrifices made by those Patriots who came before us!🫵💪🥰 God Bless America 🇺🇸& you and your family 🙏😇❤️🇺🇸
I got soaked too. I loved the Howard Hill course the best too. Even though I slipped and fell in one of those muddy hills.
Thanks for the video I was there Sunday still a Great shoot
Shorten the arrow or a stiffer spine would be my suggestion! Release looks great 👍
Tried a few different things. Those are 600 spines. 500s were way too stiff unless I had them cut pretty long. Ended up finding that when I take off the lighted nock they fly a little better, more consistent.
@@trad_root I hear that 👍😁 I don’t use lighted nock because of there inconsistency. Reflective wrap or glow in the dark wrap is what I started using instead. God Bless you and your family 🙏😇❤️🇺🇸
Brother, great recap of the event. That shoot needs to be on our radar next year! Target rich brother! Thanks for the shout out!
They have limited camping but there are plenty of hotels or Airbnb near by.
Your hold time is a lot longer than anything I can do with my recurve. What is the draw weight and what is your comfortable shooting range?
Draw weight for that bow is 42-43 lbs at my 26.5in draw. My comfortable range is between 15-30 yards. Point on aim is 25 yards.
Good stuff👍 great job enduring the inclement weather conditions 💪🫵🏹🎯 God Bless 🙏😇❤️🇺🇸
Ranch fairy and Vpa stole that broadhead design
What was the original design/brand?
Interesting you're using a release with a recurve. I've never seen that, but I've not bow hunted in 30 years. Very cool. Broadheads do fly differently though. ❤
No release. Unless you mean my finger tab. Tried a glove before and didn't like the feel.
Bet! So personally I think recurve bows look way better. Just the raw old school bow Robin Hood style. But I also recognize the genius behind releases and overall modern equipment it’s hard to compete. Traditional bows just look way better (to me)
@@trad_root Oh. I thought you were using a release. Couldn't tell from video. I like tabs too. ♥️👍
I'd say torque relax your wrist ... as the arrow passes by the riser your turning your wrist
Thanks for the input. I'll work on that.
Keep doing what you're doing, that's beautiful.
What a beautiful nature
Not sure if its just me but i run my single bevel broadheads up and down not side to side off my rest seems to make a difference for me any how
I'll try nock tuning and see if that makes a difference.
There comes a point when your just practicing being bad.Identifying that time and hanging it up till tomorrow is probably one of the most usefull skills in trad archery
I use oracal 5400 reflective vinyl for wraps and the bohning fletch tape works like a charm with it
El mío es de fresno....33libras
What's the paracord thing for?
I believe your asking about the pink cord? It's the strap on my finger tab.
@@trad_root thanks for your response. I've been out of archery for a while, but now returning. I'll check it out.
The tab is a 3 under tab from the company "yost". Great tabs. Tried a few others but this one is my favorite right now. Been using them for a few years.
Once I tried the fletching tape I never went back to gluing them! It has made building the arrows so much easier! For me....I get as much pleasure out of building arrows as I do shooting them.....good video!
Congratulations!
