I always use a bone-folder (paid $7.00 for mine at an arts supply store). With it you get sharp, well-defined creases. Also, in the US, small wax-sealed letters cost more to mail: Regular postage plus a 2-ounce stamp, because smaller than average envelopes require special handling. The 2-ounce stamps cost more than a dollar.

I'd recommend cutting a stick of wax into little chunks. You'll have to test a few times to see how many chunks of wax you need per seal. I quite like stick wax because it's easy to store, and you can get some really nice colours that I haven't found in beads.

Can you combine different wax brands, or is there a possibility they don't mix properly?

I'm in my late 50s and still love the feeling of papercrafts. I loved working with fabric and paper as a child, starting out with making my teddy clothes from the scraps my mum had from her sewing projects. I loved playing with paper dolls too. Even though I design and create cards now digitally I still love to add some handmade touches to the inside of the card and the envelopes using everything from stickers to wax seals, botanical items, bits of ribbon, old threads and sewing notions. I don't think you'll ever give up on making things by hand. It just feels more personal, doesn't it?

I have some tiny silicone makeup spatulas that I use to get the last of the wax out with. Then I wipe the remaining wax out. I really enjoy your tips. Thank you

I love that she shows different folds, but she does use too much wax for the seal. It helps to remember that the wax will squish outward from the center.

I have been reluctant to mail a letter with a wax seal on the outside. I once received a friend’s wedding invitation with a wax seal on it, in the mail in the United States, and the wax seal was cracked and chipped, but maybe I was just unlucky. I should definitely give it a try!

Thank you for your informative video, I did learn something. I do have a few questions: does the color of the wax have a meaning? I just got a new signet ring, the shield on our coat of arms is blue, can I use blue wax? Is there like some really old rules to wax seals? I had been thinking of putting the wax seal next to the signature instead of sealing the envelope, would both be too much?
