as for the exhausts if you wanted them mint again you could have them repaired and rechromed for about £350 and would be well worth it as they are the very rare hy-power allspeeds with the genuine allspeed stamping on the end cans, but they look ok as they are,just keep them clean with some chrome polish

A lad called Gary off the LC forum is sorting the pump, he comes highly recommended. The pipes were a minor miracle, although they will take some looking after. I know Tony, yes he can sort out new pipes, but if these work for free I'll save quite a few quid!

Thanks again 😁👍 The frame and loom arrived ready assembled, but I'll take a look and see if anything's tight 👍 I'll look at the tacho cable while I'm there, but I would've routed it where it fell most naturally. The jetting will all be sorted, but I'll take a looknat the aircrew, as they are currently set to factory. The choke assembly is broken unfortunately, so this will have to do at the moment. All you input is very much appreciated though! 👌

some tips help for you,i noticed that the main loom is on the left side of the headstock but it should be on the right side of the headstock and the rev cable should be above the carb balance pipe and i noticed you have not connected the wire to temp sender, i would turn the airscrews in a bit to richern it up a bit so they are 1 turn out from fully in, i all ways check the air circuits are clear when the carbs are in bits ,i check them by using carb cleaner ,i all ways use heat proof sealer to seal the exhaust flanges and collars ,when you fit the new air filter put some 2stoke oil on it to help stop dirt geting through it ,on the loom i would remove those red plastic bullet connectors and fit some yamaha or jap type conectors with clear terminal shrouds, i noticed you have fitted b9ev plugs i would take them out and fit br9es ones, also if your going to use the bike on premix dont forget to put bigger main jets in to compensate for the oil and when you refit the oil pump you can put smaller jets back in, also put the choke off the 31k carbs on the 1ua carbs that you have fitted to the bike ,on the brass coolant pipe fitting on the head at the rear you can either blank off that with a rubber pipe with a bung of bolt in it or you can drill a hole in the top of the rad by the filler neck and fit something like a tubeless tyre valve with the inner core removed then you can run a pipe from the back of the head to that fitting on the rad, also i would fit the exhaust clips on the exhaust studs and fit the springs on the exhausts, also did you remember to clean the power jets out that are on the outside of the float bowls, i allways set all of the jetting so its on the rich side, but the bike is looking good now thanks to the work your doing on it👍

i see the airbox lid as been modified but still as the rubber intake trumpet fitted i would remove that as will make the bike run better without it fitted, lc,s are great bikes that can do up to 40,000 on a engine rebuild with smiles per every mile, well it was back in the days when it was less then £8.00p for a full tank of petrol

those allspeeds you have to fit on the lc are the very rare allspeed high power ones which were only made in limited numbers and are different shape to the other big can allspeeds, also i see you have power jet carbs to go on the bike maybe 1ua-00 with non removeable powerjets or 1ua-10 which have removeable power jets,you may even have some lc2 31k carbs in the boxes,dont forget to blank off the petrol tap vacum hose on the ypvs carbs if using a lc petrol tap, looks like your using a f1 n1 51L-50 flywheel and stator,if so use a 52y-50 cdi and 51L powervalve control unit with them

when you fitted the clutch you could of made the clutch work better by removing the marks in the outer clutch basket that the plates have made by dressing removing them with a flat file, also you could of made the clutch better by fitting 1 extra steel plate and 1 extra cork fibre plate as when you leave the o ring rubbers out of the clutch there is enough room to do this and helps to stop the clutch spliping, when you fit a 530 pitch front sprocket for a lc to a ypvs engine you need to use a lc spacer to go behind the sprocket as a lc spacer is thinner than a ypvs spacer so if you use a lc front sprocket with a ypvs spacer the nut wont fit correctly as a ypvs spacer is bigger, also the nut as a hollow side that should be fitted facing in towards the spacer so it tighterns up correctly so that the end of the output shaft is at the end of the sprocket nut after the spacer and lock tab and nut have been fitted and the nut torqued up

Just a follow up on the annoying E11 fault code on the Maxpeedingrods diesel heater. I do agree with other comments below. It appears the ECU in the heater thinks the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger has gone open circuit when it is very cold. Since it thinks it is open circuit it will not start and issues the E11 fault code. I have done experiments with mine and soldered a 68K Ohm resistor in parallel right on the ECU pins where the temperature sensor connects. Due to the characteristics of the 50K NTC Thermistor used as the temperature sensor my 68K resistor in parallel will only effect the lower temperature indications of the heater. When it is cold (20 Deg F) the ECU will actually read something close to 80 Deg F! The heater will actually start fine. The really interesting part is when the heater warms up the temperature sensor has a very low resistance so my added 68K Ohm resistor in parallel has almost NO effect on the temperature the ECU sees. I originally had a switch in place to easily add and remove the 68K Ohm resistor. Once the heater was warmed up flipping the switch made less than 2 Deg F difference in the reading. So I removed the switch and just hard soldered the 68K Ohm resistor in place. Do be sure to keep a working temperature sensor in the unit so it will always protect you from any over temperature excursions. Hope that helps anybody with the same weird ECU that won't let the heater start in cold weather right when you need it! Mine finally starts in cold weather and runs great.

If you return the air intake back into the room the system will run better and more efficient, my caravan is contant 22 degrees on the lowest setting

My RD350 had reed valves, not YPVS, but it had white paint with blue stripes. Maybe they had different nomenclature in Australia. The gearbox was much the same as far as I remember. That stripped shaft thread was painful to look at. I busted most parts fixing mine but I never did that. Having both raced and commuted on mine I had about two and a half bikes to keep one going.

58hp and 150kg. Not much around today that can match those sort of numbers. Nothing woke up the industry quite like Yamaha’s LCs. Looking forward to the end result.

I love every minute driving it!! BTW I own an i4 too… it’s brilliant too but you lose that driving feeling it’s not the same.. it’s obviously better for longer distance and range has more power, acceleration, speed.. but it’s not the same.. i3 better!!

I had one of those when I was about 19. I was always deeply envious back then of the bikers screaming round on GSXthou's and Z1's etc, cos that's what I really wanted. It was generally a good bike. The camshaft bearing went on one side at one point so it continually rattled as it ran. I got a new head for it and put it on. It was only a single so it was simple enough. Sorted. My bike was the 'deluxe' version with the electric starter. Sounds good, but it didn't have the kick start mechanism fitted. And the bl**dy thing never started on the electric starter! I had to keep jump starting it all the time. I got so sick of it that I decided to get a kick start mechanism from a breakers, and shove it in the engine, so I could start it with the kick starter (look I was 19 okay). So I took the engine out, dismantled it and put a secondhand kickstart mechanism in it. Put it back in the bike (I just shoved it in by hand - nearly killed my back) and jumped on the kick start. STARTED FIRST TIME!!! Yahayyy, done it! Then had an immediate sinking feeling as I heard a continual clicking sound as it turned over. I'd left the return spring off the kickstart mechanism and the ratchet was permanently engaged. D'OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH! I sold it after that............😆😆😆
