Добавлен 7 июн 2019
Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt: "a creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references this form of stitched layered structure."
Founded in 1989, SAQA now has over 4,000 members around the world: artists, teachers, collectors, gallery owners, museum curators, and corporate sponsors. With access to our museum-quality exhibition program, SAQA members challenge the boundaries of art and change perceptions about contemporary fiber art.
As a part of SAQA’s dynamic creative community, members can take their artwork and career to the next level. We offer a wide range of exclusive resources, mentorship programs, and professional opportunities.
In addition, SAQA documents the art quilt movement - our publications include full-color exhibition catalogs, the Art Quilt Quarterly magazine, and Art Quilts Unfolding: 50 Years of Innovation.

TEXTILE TALK: Fiber Artists vs Artificial Intelligence: What We Know That It Doesn’t (SDA)
I would love to visit her gallery in Japan, I was wondering if this is possible
In the first few minutes, Yoshie says that the gallery is open to the public on select days and by appointment.
Wow, this is very cool! I think this artist will become much more recognized. She also did a beautiful quilt for Hawa'i Volcanoes Nat'l Park which is beautiful and why I ended up here.
The narrative of Charleena 06:43 is very compelling - and thank you for the richly detailed photo of the eye, an "ah-ha" teaching moment!
The voice-of-experience! The orange duct tape stripes . . . very smart. I am a huge believer in placing small stuff in big boxes or double-boxing: When I ship an 8x10 signed photograph of Georgia O'Keeffe, I include a pair of new large 100% cotton gloves. The photo is then placed in a archival sleeve, boxed, then placed in an oversize 12x12x12" (at least) box diagonally plus cushioning materials. Sounds excessive? No, just inexpensive insurance! Round mailing tubes? FedEx, UPS, USPS, are not equipped. Tubes wind up on the floor.
Beautiful! Congratulaions😊❤
It was a pleasure to see your beautiful work
You can see how your talent has grown in leaps and bounds. I am a painter turned fabric artist. so the reverse of your quilter turn to digital and back to cloth so wonderful!! Love love this show thank you for sharing it here for all!
What diameter of noodle is the best?
I love Ross. She’s a honey badger and the original tin art quilt maker and so much more.
This work is beautiful and so inspiring! Thank you fir sharing.
Fabulous!

She is amazing and a true artist - a person who works from her own heart and spirit. I love her.
That's stunning
Lovely!! 🎉
🎬 Kestrel ! Thank you for sharing your process, this is fascinating ! AND Iove your “fuzzy boys underneath” 🐨
my jaw dropped when i realized that’s a quilt!! i was convinced it was a painting it’s stunning!!!
it's so sweet to see her talk about how passionate she is for her art, and her lil smile at the end was the cutest 🩷
i love that piece, gorgeous
I have Salley Mavor's Bed book. I just love it.
I am so tired of listening to the explanation of the piece of work created... it´s like always have to have a purpose ... can something just be beautiful and worth of appreciation JUST for its beauty?
Hello, I have just found this information. The transcript for Barbara shows the word "phosphate" as the quit batting product that will shrink when heat is applied. This is the base she stitches on and then forms around wire to shape. What is the quilt batting she uses to begin her projects called?
Hello--the product she is referencing is called "Fosshape". Thanks for asking!
Stunning works all. What a fabulous video, every piece is an inspiration
Thank you ladies for this talk. It is four years on, and the movement is still growing!
Thanks for watching!
@@SAQAArtquilt I do have a question though. Unfortunately I have not heard the lecture on 20 modern quilts that opened QuiltCon 2024. Lisa Call is very clear in stating she makes textile art, and does not refer to her work as modern. In this video the fact that modern quilts are functional, washable, etc. is stressed as to discern them from art quilts. I can think of many quilts displayed at QuiltCon 2023 and 2024 that can be called ART quilts, even be entered into Quilt National. Their function is to be appreciated on walls only! Is this an example of how the definition of modern quiltmaking is evolving? It seems the distinction between art and modern is blurred in certain instances? In South Africa modern quilting is gradually gaining wider recognition. Attending QuiltCon is on my bucket list😄
@@laetitiacilliers6227 that's a great question. I'd recommend reaching out to MQG for an answer! www.themodernquiltguild.com/contact/
I absolutely loved this Textile Talk and the 3 artists. Wonderful art and presentations. Thank you.

@@SAQAArtquilt At the moment I'm bogged down in work in the garden. That's why I "have to" watch your posts one after the other on RUclips. THANK YOU so much for this opportunity. Continued success! YOU ARE GREAT! ♥☀
Thank you Greg for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed this talk; it entertained me mightily while on some medical bedrest. Thank you!
So glad that you enjoyed this Textile Talk!
Interesting and inspiring presentation, thanks Natalya and Martha!
Thanks for watching, Dinah! So glad you enjoyed this Textile Talk!
I've been a member since March 2007. They hadn't even started showing the videos yet. It's the one subscription I make sure to renew every year!
Oh my God Sally I want to meet you please
Fascinating.... I too make wonky French knots.... love the organic look in my work. thanks for this presentation.
Thank you so much, stunning artists, all. I love seeing the differentiation in skills/styles. Great works. 👏
So glad you enjoyed it!
really inspirational!
So glad you enjoyed this Textile Talk, Veronica! Thanks for watching!
I have 'attempted' a few quilts over a lot of years and always feel trapped in the need to make perfectly designed and sewn items. Thus, I have avoided making them. Get inspired and then am rarely happy with my work. Seeing your work excites me to try again. Love the imperfect appearance, though it's definitely very 'thought out' and planned, I love the sense of freedom exhibited. You have released my fear of imperfection. Thank you. Your work is powerful and pleasant to behold!
Wow loved this talk !!!!! Thank you for sharing ...I am so inspired
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful and powerful work!
The quilts remind be of puzzles.
Such wonderful imagery and beautifully hand stitched pieces! This video really inspired me and sparked my own imagination for future quilts! I could just sit and look at them for hours.
Wow!!! So much complex work.... lovely, mostly surprisingly not typically minimalist Japanese. Quite fascinating is her rich fantasy life, she's like a little fairy person with her head full of fairy stories... such fun!
