    Thanks for the gift of a podcast episode on Christmas focusing on Jesus ladies 😊🙏🏽✨💚❤️ The best gift we have is the salvation he gave us on the cross. Jesus was beyond humble. This podcast episode is an intriguing but educational one. Godly love never disappoints, distracts, or destroys us 😊🙏🏼🤍 Worldly love is only beautiful on the surface. You are right in where we place our love is what matters. I appreciate you sharing the differences with scripture of the the 2 types of love too like that Romans verse. Ironically enough non believers know stuff about the Bible but they don't know the context of what they are saying until they give their life to Christ. Wishing you both a blessed rest of the week.

    You gals are so beautiful, inside and out. Thank you for the videos. A succinct explanation: Paul speaks of faith in the sense of a justification by faith before God, while James speaks of faith in the sense of the justification of our faith before others, which shows itself in good works. The former has only to do with believing, the latter has to do with the fruit of saving faith. This is why James uses the illustrations of Abraham and Rahab in James 2. They both had true saving faith which produced obedience in their lives that all could see.

    I believe you've taken ancient texts out of their historical contexts and reinterpreted them to emphasize individual, modern spirituality at the expense of their original meanings. The most egregious error is the misapplication of the story of Lot’s wife (Genesis 19) as a purely individualistic moral lesson. In its original context, this story is not simply a cautionary tale for personal spiritual growth; it is a powerful narrative reflecting YHWH's role as a patron deity who enforces divine justice against the transgressions of Sodom and Gomorrah. These city-states' sins were seen as violations of cosmic order, and YHWH, as part of the divine council, was portrayed as exercising judgment to maintain that order. By reducing this complex and theologically rich narrative to a lesson on self-improvement, you overlook the broader cultural and theological implications-such as the ancient understanding of divine retribution, covenantal loyalty, and the interplay between deities and human societies. The transformation of Lot's wife into a pillar of salt symbolizes not just personal disobedience but a deeper cultural message about the consequences of defying the order established by YHWH. While contemporary reinterpretations can make these texts more relatable for modern audiences, it is crucial to respect their ancient roots. Ignoring the historical worldview, where YHWH operated as a powerful yet contextually specific deity among other divine beings, risks misrepresenting the text. Such anachronistic readings may fail to inspire Christians who seek to engage with the Bible in ways that are historically and theologically informed. You nudge, don't be Lot's wife. I suggest, don't be shallow with biblical scholarship and theology.

    • @WellWiseBeauty
      @WellWiseBeauty 4 дня назад

      You’re making this more complicated. God is not the author of confusion, looking into Lots wife is a close zoom of lesson we can learn. Otherwise she would not be used as an example in new testament scriptures. Luke 17:32. You are using your worldly wisdom to interpret the Bible, not what God actually says

    Your video paints Jesus as an enforcer of moral exclusivity, wielding a conservative interpretation to justify rigid boundaries and a harsh rejection of compassion in favor of corrective judgment. You cherry-pick scripture to frame intolerance as divine love, ignoring the complexity and cultural context of Jesus’ actual teachings. Frankly,scholars would see your portrayal as a gross oversimplification that distorts a message often rooted in grace and inclusivity.

    The episode’s view of friendship reflects a modern, idealized notion of relationships, prioritizing emotional support, harmony, and affirmation, often using selected Bible verses to support these values. From a historical-critical perspective, however, biblical teachings on relationships are often more communal, covenantal, and duty-bound, emphasizing accountability, justice, and loyalty within a collective framework. A more historically accurate approach would recognize the following: Relationships in the Bible are not idealized and often include betrayal, conflict, and moral complexity. Friendship is less about individual emotional support and more about communal obligations, ethical accountability, and loyalty to the covenant community. Concepts like love and forgiveness are conditional and tied to covenantal relationships, rather than being universal, unconditional principles. Biblical friendships often prioritize moral and communal integrity over individual preferences for comfort, harmony, or emotional support. These distinctions underscore how contemporary interpretations can sometimes project modern values onto ancient texts, potentially overlooking the Bible’s complex, duty-oriented approach to relationships.

    1. Marriage...2. Courtship...3. Dating - our personal lives must be arranged in that order before the LORD. I get asked often about being a widower at 40 years old, having now spent the past few years alone. The answer is quite simple, I will only consider a relationship if I know for sure before ever "dating" a woman that I would be capable of being her husband and she my wife. Hence why I am single and have not dated. I appreciate the rise in people (Brothers & Sisters in Christ equally) being willing to place purity and morality at the premium position. Wow! There are elements here that are similar to Hinduism..." The Christian themes of finding one’s true identity in Christ, detaching from worldly roles and material possessions, and undergoing spiritual transformation resonate with key concepts in Hinduism. For example, the idea of placing identity in Christ as a solid foundation parallels the Hindu notion of realizing the Atman (the true self) as the eternal, unchanging reality beyond the temporary roles of the world. Both traditions also emphasize detachment from fleeting material attachments-whether it's worldly success or social media in Christianity, or maya (illusion) in Hinduism-and the importance of surrendering to God for true liberation. These shared themes highlight a deeper, universal quest for transcending the ego and finding fulfillment in the divine.

    "Godly dating" is quite the interesting concept. In the historic cultural context of the Ancient Near East, women were often treated as property, subject to the authority of men, typically their fathers or husbands. Marriage was not a personal contract between husband and wife but rather an agreement between a man and the woman's father, often involving an exchange of goods or services. Biblical law often reinforced social hierarchies, with control over property, family, and inheritance tightly linked to patriarchal structures. Women were generally positioned in a subordinate and dependent role within these systems. However, there are notable exceptions, such as the stories of Deborah, Ruth, and Esther, who acted in ways that subverted or transcended these norms. These instances, while significant, were exceptions rather than the rule. (Interestingly, the stories of Ruth and Esther contain very little direct Divine intervention or explicit references to God, relying instead on human decisions and actions to drive the narrative.) It is worth noting that when contemporary Christians refer to a "Biblical view of marriage," it is often a modern interpretation rather than a reflection of the historical reality of marriage practices in biblical times, which differ significantly from current ideals. Would think the concept of "Godly dating" needs robust theological continuity with the genuine past, not just its liberal reinterpretation.

    • @WhenWeAbide
      @WhenWeAbide 2 месяца назад

      @@Kenoticrunner you are referencing “biblical history,” but you claimed in our other video that this approach of “believing” something to be true because others believed it is wrong. How do you know that’s what the history of marriage was like in the Bible if you claim the Bible isn’t true? What are you basing those claims off of?

    • @Kenoticrunner
      @Kenoticrunner 2 месяца назад

      @@WhenWeAbide Great question. The books of the Bible aren't the only contemporaneous accounts of Ancient Near Eastern culture. And "true vs not true" is an over simplified characterization. The question of historians would be "what are Ancient Near Eastern concepts of marriage based upon the written evidence we have?" We have some good information, in fact, multiple fairly independent corraborating sources. What would I be basing beliefs upon? Consistent with historical inquiry, the artifacts we have. These artifacts consistently point to women as unfortunately property in the time and place in which these books of the Bible were authored. A "Biblical" or "Godly" view of marriage would encompass such, despite being unlike often popularly framed in contemporary Evangelicalism. And it's not that believing something because others believed it is categorically wrong. Historians use a robust framework that includes reliance on multiple independent attestations, unmotivated or disinterested witnesses, corroborating evidence, proximity to events, and contextual coherence. Even then, conclusions must be modest, as we simply can't go back to the past. That said, even with these limits, a historically-based Judeo-Christian view of marriage must grapple with the notion that it was normative for God's people to more or less own women as property and that God at that time to be portrayed as rather just fine with it. I hope this helps answer how we know what marriage was like in the Ancient Near East including among the Israelite people. Feel free to explore the often cited "Social World of Ancient Israel: 1250-587 BCE" by Victor H. Matthews and Don C. Benjamin. They discuss the status of women in Israelite society, particularly in relation to marriage, within a broader social and economic context. The authors argue that women in ancient Israelite society were often viewed as property in marriage, but this was part of a broader social and legal system where family and economic considerations were paramount. Their role as chattel was intertwined with their economic and reproductive functions, but this did not entirely negate their personal agency or social importance.

    I don't have a problem with the wisdom of Jesus Christ. I have a problem with the atrocities that were committed (i.e. Terra Nullius) in his name. Throughout history, Christianity has unjustly confirmed the authority to disrespect "pagan" beliefs, peoples and cultures.

    The approach of "a religious claim is true because people have believed it" lacks a clear or consistent method for determining who qualifies as a god. Instead, it leads to accepting all deity claims as equally valid, without providing a way to reach consensus on evaluating the wide variety of beliefs. Rather than being entirely convincing, your presentation highlights why there has been, and continues to be, such diversity in beliefs about deities. It effectively explains why some believe Jesus is God, while others do not. You make the case for what you don't intend.

      @@Kenoticrunner Witnesses who walked alongside Jesus, wrote down testimonies that corroborate each other, and even went so far as to choose death for what they claimed to be the ultimate truth? That can’t just be disregarded. There’s blind belief and then there’s valid belief. 500 people claiming to see Jesus and being okay with death for that claim is not a joke. No one dies for something they know isn’t true

      @@Kenoticrunner Jesus isn’t true because of the belief of the disciples. It’s because there is evidence that the disciples were not lying. Similar to how a case is proven or disproven in court? Lawyers interview witnesses and a jury / judge comes to a conclusion based on that? That’s how everything works in life…? Weird to think that that wouldn’t be a viable method of finding truth. There are plenty of people who believe lies, it’s not about their belief, it’s about whether or not they are telling the truth.

      @@WhenWeAbide All you've shown is that the early believers believed. It's similar to other faith traditions' claims. Disciples weren't liars; they were believers. Whether what they believed was true has little bearing on how belief is formed or shared. Then, or now. This religion, or that.
