Try a different vehicle. Not all have Car Fax. I just did it. Still works fine.

I wonder if I can get just a motor mount bracket that has the 2 round indentations for the stabilizers (not sure what they're called) to fit into that will center the motor on the mount

GB should give you the option to just buy another boat without the motor if you already have a motor from a previous purchase

In the Goboat Facebook group a guy posted 3 ft rollers in 30 mph winds and says it did excellent. Also, many have been strapping in beach chairs it they seem to be doing just well. Join the Official Facebook group and should see lots of different mods. 😁
