And thundersport is a great club some proper fast lads there no matter what class you enter, it's the best club I've raced at by far, and I'm still racing the old R1 at thundersport just as and when I can at circuits I enjoy...

How did you get on with slicks the other day lad? And back when this vid was filmed the r1 was running stock motor with lightened flywheel, full micron system standard jets in the carbs and was 137bhp... And I'm no racing snake so we've done away with the stock motor now and we're running ram air 👌 Also we put a 2014 big bang front end in it with k-tech cartridges, braced swing arm, techno-flex rear shock, bigger radiator, quickshifter, coils stick conversion and all the usual bits. Currently messing about with some r7 fairings for it aswel.

jack yorke That sounds mega mate That’s a right spec !!! I was a bit disappointed with slicks At first! I actually went slower As I had it in my head that I could push really hard and I ended up just running wide. They have more feel but they just didn’t seem to grip any better I used Dunlop GP Racer which is the budget slick( I later found out) I’m back there on the 11th of June Going to make some suspension changes and service the forks as I didn’t touch the sus at all and the bike felt better with road tyres Dunlop sport max and cold weather ?? but il be honest I haven’t really got a clue what I’m doing lol (got a lot to learn) My suspension is all standard apart from K tech 95 rear spring I’m 17.5 stone so I no what you mean about been no racing snake lol Managed 1.42s again which is a second slower than when I was there in March. Front end felt sogy and I had a weird figure of 8 feeling going into a few corners been told that the front forks are maxing out and there was no rebound on the rear. How much does aftermarket suspension help ? Will I automatically go faster / get more grip / feel ? or is it a case of learning how to set up a bike ? Not sure weather to invest in the latest and greatest suspension or invest in track time ? Or both lol

I run the kr108 & kr106 ntec Dunlops usually compounds 1-2 on the front and 2 on the rear, there expensive but wouldn't use anything else.. And being 18.5 stone I've never managed to get stock suspension to work for me so for me I've always gone down the route of sorting the suspension and handling out 1st on all my race bikes, main thing I'd suggest is getting the right springs for your weight k-tech can help you with that and refresh the forks. I run 10.25-10.5 springs in the front of mine and think I've got a 110 rear spring I don't know how well a standard rear shock would handle a heavier spring without a revalve so probably be better off investing in a aftermarket rear shock. Track time is going to help you out the most at 1st but knowing what to look for will help you keep improving have a look at a suspension book by Andrew trevitt called sportsbike suspension tuning ideal and and easy to read with some good info to get your head around bike set up and geometry. 👍

Andy Barling that was for a podium position had to be done mate every race start he managed to dust me off the lights 😂 kept him there for a few laps just didn't have enough in me on the brakes to keep him there some good racing when you back out?
