CN Wainwright and Vegreville Sub - June 5 and 6, 2024
@orionviii came out to visit in early June and we managed to catch some action on the Wainwright Sub between Holden and Edmonton. As well, no trip to Edmonton would be complete without a trip up to the Scotford area to see the SD40-2Ws that hold down assignments in Scotford Yard. We’ll bounce back and forth between the Wainwright and Vegreville Sub in the video and round out with some footage from Scotford Yard, which was busy with 520, 521 and 511 all working.

After working a night shift, I headed up the Westlock Sub to catch 418 with BCOL 4642 leading. The perfectly sunny morning was quickly clouding over, as strong winds blew in a storm that would put a damper on what had looked to be a pleasant spring day. Victoria Street was a great spot to watch trains, a nice sweeping curve in both directions and 4 tracks of almost non-stop mainline action on the GO Sub and CN Kingston Sub. On the Canada Day Long Weekend, I found myself trackside to catch G 81451 28 with a pair of Canadian Cab C44-9CWL CN 2517 and BCOL 4642. Time to venture off the mainline and take a visit to CN and CPKC's line to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. My son is special needs and he really likes the Rocky Mountaineer finds it a very interesting passenger train but wishes that it would be more affordable to ride for the middle and low class.
