Hey everyone! My frist time experimenting with this, so not everything is perfect with balance and timing. But still, absolute blast to do! Full credit for this arrangement to Eric Whitacre, absolute master of his craft! If you're reading this, thank you so much for all of the music you create, it's amazing, powerful, and inspiring! I wish I could attain the level of beauty in my work that you ...

A sad day of mourning the passing of one of the greatest composers to ever grace the planet. Thank you for the beautiful, the iconic, the impactful, and the powerful. Thank you for the music. Rest in peace Ennio Morricone

Quarantine boredom is a hell of a thing...
Chain Ash?
hard AF
Pure guts. Holy cow of a show
8:46 so good for mashed up somewhere over the rainbow and i dont know what tittle of the song, they mixed 2 songs , wow the same vibes❤
THE Corps De Blatt😂😂😂😂 WE DON’T PLAY LOUD…WE BLATT😂😂😂😂😂
The corps de blatt 😂😂😂😂
Im convinced you have to be gay to march band corps
Just a little. 1% minimum.

Does RUclips charge extra for volume we can HEAR? This is Crown! Volume is their thing. Take this down and reload it with the proper volume settings.
Bro for real
What is the song that’s used in the opener
"The Promise of Living" from The Tender Land suite by Aaron Copeland
8:19 they put this in their 2023 show??
they used it many times throughout the years
legendary show
Volume is to low. Question what keeps everyone fit. Where is rest of the drums section. No triple large tom toms
omg, skipped to a random part in the middle and immediately recognized "sensemaya" by silvestre revueltas!!
I watched this show without knowing that they used the promise of living, which was also used in my band's show this year.
what’s even cooler is the way it falls off in the opener, and then picks right back up through the score in the closer
One of the few shows to have story continuity.....09-10 Crown shows had a throughline if you spot it....
If you spot it? It's in the name of the 2010 show lol. Not to mention that several pieces of the music are shared in both shows. Everyone present knew what was up in 2010.
Aren’t the troopers doing something like that tis year and the last year or two. I think, correct me if I wrong
imagine being a trumpet player and being told: hey can you just stop playing trumpet and dance around for the rest of the show?
This is the first show I really fell in love w CROWN! Their brass was always kinda okay for me from early 00's and I had heard good things about their 07 and 08 brass, but I really hadn't heard it LIVE until 09, and WOW! I kept shaking my head saying, "This can't be Crown!! This can't be Crown!!" They haven't stopped blowing my mind since!!
bro she was part of the band, danceline, and was the drum major for a few seconds
The first ever Crown show I’d ever seen and still my favorite!
One of my favorite shows of all time!!!!!!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I literally fell asleep
I love watching this show knowing my director was in it
8:35 ballad
Probably one of the most underrated shows in DCI history. It seems to have just fallen out of the community’s collective memory over the years.
Still my favorite show ever I think
Facts!
@@danielburbank1669 Still think they got hosed out of first place that year.
@@osutuba absolutely
legendary show imo
headphones had to be amped all the way up.
The show that should’ve won
4:06
What I love about it the most (and this may be a reflection of that time period in drum corps overall), is that it's the perfect blend of, in layman's terms, old school and new school. It has the exaggerated theatrics of the modern times, but there's also very little narration and absolutely no props for this. The music comes first, and this is just straight up good drum corps. A stellar performance, definitely one that never fails to disappoint.
Even though I really do love modern corps myself, I do put music first when writing my shows as well. I never even think of show designing because I am a composer who loves brass impacts and intense drum features lol 🤣.
@@WolfgangXP65-67brass impacts and drum features are apart of show design!! You're just thinking of the modern theatrics that are commonplace now, but the music is absolutely and always has been part of the design. You just prefer to get the music sorted out before the visuals, or theme.
@@iainoam2565 that may be lmao 😂.
the church windows reminded me about hebron, had no idea the best high school brass band and the best dci brass band played this
you too?😅
A marching show by Scott Ward uses The same song too.
The color guard looks like a bunch of Peter Pan’s running around the field 😂
Yes. There’s a few fairytale characters, including Tinkerbell and Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.
6:58 scouts 2011
is EMC Productions performing in here? (Eric Carr)
no it’s 2010 crown
Yeah he did March in this. 2010 was his age out year.
@@andrewlopez9710 did he march on tenors or a different instrument?
@@LowkeyMG1 he marched tenors this year. I’m sure of it. His age out year was 2010 Carolina Crown.
@@andrewlopez9710 He actually marched Jersey Surf in 2008 and 2009, he wasn't in Crown until his age out in 2010
This show made me march
where'd you march?
Same
I don't like my horn line prancing around. That's the color guards job. Yes, I'm old, get off my football field lawn! Shakes fist.
7:45 - 7:58 was absolutely nails for the battery. I was in the stands wanting to throw something out of frustration because JJ was standing in front of the front ensemble. That shit was so good you can even see Lee Beddis throw his hands in the air and jump up and down between the podium and the stands. These finals recordings and this venue simply do not do this percussion ensemble justice. Legends
Prosperie wasn’t the perc. Judge in this but your notion still stands. It sounds like the pit wasn’t even doing “difficult” stuff to warrant the judge being up there either
@@Mattyfear you’re right it was JJ
@@Mattyfear even if the FE isn't doing anything difficult, the judge still has to judge them too, you don't want to only judge the more demanding aspects of a corp. you have to sample all of what you can and sometimes that leads to unfortunate timing in what they sample. (The judge still placed the percussion fairly high this year)
Still gives me chills...
The ending of this show sounds like 2010, or 2010 sounds like this show...And LOOKS like it in some spots.....May just be me. But it sounded very familiar.
Yes the 2010 closer is very similar to the 2009 closer. They played The Promise of Living in both closers.
That’s why 2010 is called a second chance
Yeah the whole thing with 2010 is that it’s “A second chance” at winning. Tons of symbolism but they play several hits from 2009 and they have the same ending, with a few changes. Even the gradient color guard flags are the same despite being a different color. In 2010 tho, they both run off together instead of just the one in 2009.
12:55 Great ending
Thank you very much for sharing this video, but I must admit that the volume on the video is quite low for some reason. I actually found myself syncing your video with audio from a soundcloud upload to watch it. Not sure if that's something you're able to adjust on your upload, but I thought I would give the feedback. That said, the quality is fantastic, and I appreciate you sharing this rare find!
5:38-6:40 was a great part in the show and was kinda hilarious. Like why where they walking like that lol? (Also the Soprano trumpet at 6:34 🔥🔥)
Thought this show offered more than BD.
Offering more isn't on the score sheets.

One of my favorite shows ever
This show was, and still is, so bizarre. I say that with nothing but love in my heart for it, it's a great show.
Not as bizarre as crown reviving the ending from this show the following year. Its so out of place it hurts
I think it’s a great mix of narratives
@@Conceptual_Continuity the 2010 show was titled 2nd Chance. I’m sure that ending had something to do with having a second chance of winning gold
@@mten1454 nah I know that was the exact intention. It still comes off weird if you don't know the context
@@Conceptual_Continuity what made it so weird is that there was no other reference to the 09 show. When cadets did their repeat show in 2006 of the 05 show there were references throughout
I have to say, the 👑 is my favorite hornline for a decade now and still counting
I'm glad I found this
Anyone else hear thunder at 0:51? Cool sound effect either way!
🤯👂👌❤️😇❤️👌👂🤯
What the hell? I had no idea that crown had a drumline that got second place. And they’re really good too. It took me awhile to get into this show but I like how unique it is. Nothing like I’ve ever seen.
Yea it was when I realized sooner or later they would win the gold. 4 years later they did!
Arguably one of their best lines ever. Lee Beddis beats were sick too.
The reason I didn’t know this line was so good is because of the crown stereotype this past decade. “If only they had a drumline they could win more championships.” I did not like that they had that reputation. Luckily, their drumline might be close to their 2009 form soon.
@@colinkelly8393 honestly if you look back at their scores throughout the years it was only a few years like 12-15 where their drumline was lower than the rest of the corps. I believe they won a regional or 2 in drums in 2016.
@@colinkelly8393 their percussion section was exceptional in 2019 and arguably could have won a Sanford. 17 was another great year. Solid in 16 and 18 as well.
Wowww I love to see dci 2000s with 1080p
sucks so much watching my finals run in 07 in like 240p, hahah. i'm like IT REALLY WASN'T THAT LONG AGO
You young people and these numbers. Is it really that much of a a difference?
@@brothaNblue uhhhh yeah? why would shitty graphics and audio not be relevant?
@@jared0111 because to me, it pretty much looks and sounds the same. Really high HD looks like a picture trying to stay still but it keeps moving. It looks weird.
If only we could have had spartacus in this good of video quality
Wait a second. Did somebody get involved in both the winds section and the color guard in the same show?
No, if I remember correctly she sat by the front ensemble before that part of the show.
@@ManuelLopez-mc1tx Got it.
She marched in the drill the entire opening. (I marched this show)
