Hello french viewer here ! Can you do Online races in 4.0? I didn't see you on the leaderboard and you were kind of my base to know if I can get close to you or not! 🫡
@@GEARHOME83 I'll get right on it :D
@Jakodin Looking forward to challenging your race times!
twitch.tv/jakodin if you wanna catch me run them live :)
@@Jakodin I come ! But 10 minutes do it quick ! 🤣
great video, thanks. would love to see a video diving deeper into basics to really understand them. how acceleration and throttle work, space braking, boosting. what the heck does SCM do. more info on flying in decoupled mode. maybe it’s really obvious, but idk, i cant find any answers explaining these topics in detail.
@@shontam thanks! Yes I have a ton of things planned. Doing my best to manage my time better to get more vids out consistently this year!
@ 🙏 Legend, thank you.
Another amazing podcast, looking forward to seeing another year of racing!
15:30 I definitely think being able to have security more condensed will be helpful against pirates. But as much as it sucks to get killed by pirates in the rally, seeing combat in the skies above you, and wreckage or even bombs dropping around you is my favourite part of the DR.
I had so much fun with you all, invite me again anytime. 💖
2:17 sad thing is, the desync that killed Kolbosa, upset him so much, that he quit racing altogether because of it
Seriously? :O That's horrible to hear! Hope to see him return once they improve the performance :(
I'm sorry to hear that. 😭
Ya I saw him say he was quitting racing… that really sucks :( would love to see footage from his POV of what happened
This sucks. I get it though. The crew talking about S7 this last year gave me PTSD flashbacks of losing the first place because H3rbie died on flat ground 1km from the finish line. I am still upset about that loss. I have taken a step back from racing to play other things because of how that series of races made me feel. I still race, and it's just not to the same capacity. I empathize with him, and I hope we see him back in the future.
My ship isn't avalible for racing in arena commander :/
Unfortunately Arena Commander only shows ships that you have pledged :/ Otherwise you'd have to rent the ships for 3 days with REC. CIG recently said they're updating it so that rentals last for the duration of that patch rather than just for 3 days so hopefully that gets implemented soon.
@@Jakodin I have pledged them though, and they are avalible for pirate/vandul/freeflight modes, but not racing. Apoa, san'tok ship don't seem to be selectable for racing
Really need a way to save settings profiles, because as much as I want to race ON THE SIDE, these game settings are pretty much the exact opposite of what I want for my normal industrial gameplay :(
Hey! So happy to find this!! I'm not a huge racer myself but i love to follow the racing events and especially the Daymar Rally. Really psyched about this podcast and channel. Looking forward to seeing this podcast grow! Also as someone who loves racing but mostly as a viewer i hope that this podcast keeps mentioning what the next big racing events are going to be and when. There are so many things happening in the racing community that from the outside it can be a bit confusing and overwhelming to keep track of everything about where to watch and when. 😄
@@EmanuelSpader thank you for the kind words! This is the main reason we started the podcast! We want to make sure that racing events can be followed even if you don't participate in them! Glad you're enjoying :D
This is gold, thank you! I just got myself a stick and mouse setup and I started racing to re-learn how to fly. Would be cool if you could cover some basic differences between different input setups. I assume dual sticks would be best?
@@Optisystemizer thanks for the kind feedback! I'll definitely consider doing a video covering how you can race or setup the different control options for racing! I'd say that dual sticks is the most intuitive feeling for this kind of flight but I know ppl of all control types that can race super fast so it's really up to preference and feel
Can you still race with the current flight model? I've found precision movement and speed adjustments to be very difficult since master modes and the new control scheme.
@@Druagr yes you can still very much race. The server performance was a bigger issue than the flight changes hehe. You are right tho, it has been trickier to adjust with this new model but it's trainable and can be very rewarding
Bro, why don't other star citizen players know about you???? You have single handily taught me how to race. Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad I'm helping you improve and I hope you keep enjoying what's coming! Happy Holidays!
Perfect
I do like your videos but doing a platinum time in an Aurora ... that's just rubbing it in 😭
@@DJSikosis that was just meant to prove that it can be done :3
Not used to racing content, this was a discovery to me 😊 thank you!
Great first episode guys! It's great to just virtually hang out and catch up on the latest flight model changes while I'm unable to play. I enjoyed the theory-craftting and discussion about how Level locked components/ships are going to change the future of racing. Audio levels were a little quiet on this one, but overall it's epic... Looking forward to racing with y'all again soon! P.S. Liquid is getting a lot better on Snakepit ;)
Racing will be good if the game can maintain stable 60fps
It will indeed. Optimization will happen once they start preparing for 1.0 not while they're still testing stuff so hopefully one day we can see smooth frames for a better experience.
Incredibly well done Jako
Nice... I need to re-adjust my line-choice for sure ;-)
This actually taught me better racing lines. Thank you! 💖
Cool guide. Tx o7
I dont understand. When I roll my Razor it makes a huge arc and the crosshairs refuse to stay centered. The Polaris rolls with more precision. Am I doing something wrong?
Yeah one of the interesting things about the racing ships is that, much like F1 cars, they need speed to really bring out their true aerodynamic capabilities. When you're not at the optimal speed, they can wobble during rolling as seen at 4:52 (the M50 is notorious at doing this) so you might need to adjust with a tiny bit of yaw input. This is why we always recommend aligning yourself perpendicular to the coming turn so you roll in a straight line not during a turn. Sorry for the wall of text hehe
@@Jakodin No, I appreciate the wall! The same thing doesn't happen in the Peregrine and it never used to be this bad when I flew the Razor before MM. Should I be going faster than max SCM speed then? I don't really race so much as low fly through buildings and gantries in NB. Going to check out more of your videos now, thanks for the reply!
@lastsplash6 if you're flying in SCM i would recommend switching to NAV mode to unlock the full speed available
I think the new ship path hud might help
@@UBIQUITAR as far as I'm aware, the new course prediction path only works on capital ships and larger. Haven't seen it working on anything smaller yet.
@Jakodin capital ship races it is
Since I've been watching Jakodin's videos, my times have improved, my loved one has returned, my gambling luck has improved and he's even cured me of a rare disease. Great job on your videos.
@@BolTok_ 👀
New to racing, last video helped a lot with Lorville, as well as huge improvement to racing in general. Now to try not crash into rocks at Icebreaker
Awesome to hear! Icebreaker is one of my ultimate favourites. It's quite a simple track in terms of it's layout but there is so much time to gain by practicing it, it's very rewarding learning this track. You really get a sense of how much you've honed your skills when you start shaving seconds on it! Look forward to hearing more of your progress 🔥
@Jakodin well the newbie gains have been great. Loreville gone from 2 mins to 1:20. Icebreaker I'm crashing alot less at checkpoint 6.
@Taelon0 let's gooo!!! That's platinum times met already 💪🏼
what do you think about the Fury LX? Is it a capable racing ship in it's current state or more of a toy to mess around with?
@@borischung01 honestly... Given that in the current state it can't reach NAV speeds, it struggles to compete with any other racing ship. Having said that, its acceleration also pales in comparison to the Krugers so even as a snub it's the slowest. It can still be a very fun ship to fly, especially racing other Fury LX's around short tracks like Snake Pit but as a general racing ship it's the slowest in the current flight model.
@Jakodin dang. Snake Pit is my Zen spot with the Fury LX tho so good enough for now I guess. Hopefully it'll be slightly better when control surfaces become a thing
@borischung01 yeah if what CIG said about the speeds being normalised brings snub speeds level with other ships (just without the ability to QT) then we might see the Fury make a return cos it's a very nimble ship so will definitely be raced again.
One to save thanks for these guides!
Right direction!
@@djtgeek2301 for once 🤣🤣
Another awesome video 🤩 Well done Jako, let's gooooo 🚀
Thank you for the Sim Cup coverage. The reason classes were reduced is I knew there would be low sign ups with such a late announcement of the event and the technical test of the brand new ANZIA Racing Tournament app needed condensed classes, it went extremely smoothly, I can't wait for you all to see how much hard work I put in to it. 💖 Also, Sim Cup had hidden racing prizes, I gave out prizes for 1st-3rd and a physical glass cup for 1st place winners. Durnk: Convince CIG to release a racing variant of the Intrepid!
I look forward to seeing what you got cooking up for 2955 🔥🔥
I totally forgot about the physical cup prize! Someone told me about it pre pod too :( soon as you hit that record button I always forget stuff lol I heard great things about the event from our guys though, I’ll definitely be looking to sign up next year
Glad you're keeping these podcasts going so good, thanks!
Thanks for watching dood ❤
I really enjoyed the podcast, maybe next time it would be nice to see some footage too.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, a new layout is in the works to allow us to have footage running without interfering with the cameras. Should hopefully be ready for episode 3 :)
i used to love racing and was top 20 for most of a decade but honestly ever since yogi showed up i cant enjoy it. feels so artificial and forced and they dont even bother with things like track hud markers anymore. wish they would just get rid of the guy and bring back john prichett...
Putting all of the 'default-settings' on to one button is such an obvious choice I haven't realized yet. Thanks :D
Love the videos and especially this one is helpful.. Have you had the thought to do racing ships breakdown? To do pros and cons of each racing ship in terms of which one is the best.. I'm super new to racing and Player vs Time thingy, pledging Mirai Fury LX to master it since racing right now is the best (working in SC verse XD) game loop.
@@steelcaldari9749 thank you for the kind words ❤️ yes I definitely have that kind of video series in mind but since I'm still in the process of releasing the track guides, I'm waiting for 4.0 since it should be out soon and any potential flight model changes and then do ship breakdown from there :)
@@Jakodin I just switched the settings, giving the test and the difference is amazing.. Like I knew racers fly decoupled but to me it was hard to keep the ship aligned with the direction I desire.. as for lowfly it's easy to maintain for you fly in one direction most of the time but in race and the tracks with sharp curves to me it's totally magic to keep up with.. First flight on Lorville Outskirts my time was 1min 35sec, to compare with before I was flying coupled and with GSAFE on 1min 29sec.. Think GSAFE takes much away from ship potential, now thanks to this vid I know it. I feel that I can cut more with your settings with the Fury LX.. I hope 4.0 will be kind to all of us no matter what's the game-loop of yours.. <3
Thanks! Subscribed :)
7:14 single key press settings
5:14 Gravity Compensation & Landing gear
Hell yeah brother! Keep 'em comming!
Well done dude, great video, well made and thought through. I would have preferred better weather for improved viz but your choice to show it with the typical smog is sound. Keep it up.
Yeah looking back at it I realised I chose the wrong time of day. Visibility was way better for the Aurora run. Will make sure to avoid that for future vids. Appreciate the feedback <3
Thank you for the guide. My best run crashed on the second turn, I think. Anyway, I’d love to see a full run with the Razor, without pauses or explanations! Another question: what tools do you use to display the controls? It was a bit confusing for me because at 3:09 you mention, "I pitch up," but the control shows the orange point moving down. Maybe that’s normal (you pull the joystick back, so the point moves down?).
@@Maxos43 thanks for the feedback! I'll b sure to include a full run after the breakdown to see it all strung together! I use joyviz to show my inputs and yes as you assumed, I pull down on my right stick to pitch up. It's the most intuitive movement for pitch for me and the visualiser shows how I'm controlling the axis so as I pull down, the pip moves down as well
@Jakodin thanks for the answer :)
My favourite SC racing content creator at it again! Great breakdown
Hi have a dumb Question what is a good racing ship for raicing beginners ?. I am a combat pilot with a Arrow XD so i will a dedicatet racer
@@combatbeard9937 Hello there! If you want a dedicated racing ship I would go for the Razor. It's the most balanced one from them all. If the speed is a problem tho, I like to recommend the Aurora and the Gladius to practice tracks with as they handle very well and their speed is much more manageable
Great vid, these guides will be perfect keep em coming please.
Looking forward to the rest of the vids in this series. Really well explained and easy to understand!
Hi. Good informative video. Are you using wide screen monitor?
@@tomcatvrkalisz820 thanks for the feedback ❤️ yes I am. It is my preferred way to play SC and figured I'd translate how I see the game to the videos I make
@Jakodin I share same view and enjoy ultrwide view. BTW I think they might fix wide screen in recent patch and now with DLSS enabled those marker shift is no longer an issue.
@tomcatvrkalisz820 interesting I will have to check that later to see! Thanks for pointing it out 💪🏼
Am I reading your controls readout on the bottom of the screen that you're moving at full thrust almost the entire time? Also, I've been practicing decoupled flight in zero G, am I doing myself a disservice by not practicing under gravity?
Yes, given the current aero models, ships like the Razor and the M50 rely on pushing as much speed as possible to be able to generate the lift needed to take corners as sharp as they do so whenever possible full send :D Re decoupled: Not at all, zeroG helps you understand the feel of taking control of the thrusters yourself without having to deal with gravity as well. You will notice it's actually easier to fly decoupled in gravity cos drag helps you slow down and regain control
As someone who is interested in not necessarily racing, but just having better control, and flying better, do you ever partake in dogfighting? If so, do you find yourself winning due to your increased speed and skill? Or do you fly purely in racing?
@@GrimGearheart yes I've actually been getting myself into it a bit more lately. I definitely think learning flying through racing has sped up the process of learning to dogfight. The biggest difference felt is that racing focuses a lot on the forward momentum and maximising speed while dogfighting is more about maintaining a clear pattern with another moving target. The element of aiming and distance control obviously only comes with dogfighting but the ship control definitely is improved by both
@@Jakodin I've been watching more of your races, and it's incredibly impressive. I don't know if you've ever done this before, but Tobii eye tracker has a function that allows you to see exactly where the you're looking using a ghostly circle. I think it would be great to have that on for some races to see what part of the screen you're paying attention to the most, for us newbies. The whole time I was watching, I was most curious about what you were looking at, your TVI, or the checkpoints, or your console, etc.
@GrimGearheart that would indeed be very awesome to be able to show tho unfortunately I do not yet own a Tobii 😅 it is definitely something I am looking forward to getting tho! Even the headtracking would be great for more spacial awareness during tight races
@@Jakodin You might want to reach out to tobii and see if they'll send you one, or give you a discount. You've got the pedigree, having been invited to racing events, etc. Your videos get thousands of views. The worst they can say is no. Maybe they'll give you an affiliate deal, put your referral link in your video descriptions, etc. :D
@@GrimGearheart That would be amazing hehe! I figured I'm too new a channel for that but I guess no harm in trying :D
Super helpful info! Was getting very confused with all these constant changes heheh
I've been weighing the idea of going fully decoupled. Trial by fire so to speak. I either learn to fly decoupled or I hang up my sticks haha.
@@logan3576 if you do have the convenience of sticks, I would highly recommend giving decoupled flight a go. The analog control of sticks will make it much easier for you to control the speed and you'll come to realise that it's a much more immersive and engaging experience
@@Jakodin I do, I have dual Virpil Constellation Alphas! I just have...a decade of flight sim experience to unlearn haha. Any settings you recommend I change to make my experience easier? I've heard about things like G-Safe and Speed Limiter, and TVI, etc.
@@logan3576 Oh sweet, awesome sticks!! Yes I actually have an updated 3.24.2 guide on my channel going through all the settings and keybinds that should be of help :)
