Do you need to let the toothpaste dry, or does it not matter?
How do you prevent cravking when painting on top of the metallic? I have 50 percent of my paint massively cracking and not adhering to the metalic paint.
@@ericmarable1391 you can try and seal the metallic coat with a satin clear gloss - but this sounds like potentially your resin or undercoat hasn’t cured correctly. That cracking normally occurs when the base paint or resin is still leaching gas which causes the top coat to fail
MmmmmmmMmmm (yoshimitsu sound) incredible work sir
@@mason3307 thank you!
The hero we need but don't deserve! Thanks bud!
I wish they hadn’t borg-ified it. The original was so iconic, at least to me.
How long did you wait for the silver acrylic to dry before taping and doing the yellow stripe. I’m nervous about the tape taking of my paint job
Now this is my type of video, it gets straight to the point and shows me everything I need to know.
i try not to drag them out haha
Sick. Nice video of the breakdown. I just got mine in last week. I'm probably just gonna do a basic metallic gunmetal grey with a blue stripe and accents. Gonna give her a black primer coat, paint it all up, rub it on some rocks and stuff to give it a worn look then hit it with a clear coat. These blasters feel great in your hands and have a solid build, if highly recommend one.
awesome! Try some toothpaste masking before your top coat to get the beaten up look - i have another how to video on my channel for that - if you rub it on rocks you'll cut back to the plastic which won't look too great as you'll see the white or green colouring
Imma do the same to mine
The Federation is happy with the results and requeires you to join Captain Picard's crew supervising the armory. The Borg will be dammed.
Hahhaha I accept!
Did you clear coat again after the graphite powder? This is awesome. Such an improvement over stock.
Yeah sorry I didn’t video it, but just a coat to seal it in. Thank you for watching!
Just got mine from my kids for Christmas, they know me well, and love this paint job. Thanks for the tutorial.
Merry Christmas! No worries, and let me know if you need any more detail on products used etc
looks awesome bro
Thanks bro! Giving it to dad when I head to gizzy haha
YESSSSSSSSSDSSSS
Haha cheers
Wish they hadn’t moulded in all the Borg parts
Yeah I’d be happy for just a standard phaser - the lights and sounds are pretty sweet though
Looks stunning - the paintwork brings out the detail - very impressive work.
Thanks pep pep!!
Been a while.
Back at it again :)
Can we get a list of the paints used, I know you say it in the video but its be awesome to have a written list 😊
What was the white layer that you sprayed the hammered copper onto? You say "raw cast". Is this a resin print or some type of filament from an FDM printer? Was there any primer sprayed before the copper?
Can you mention what paints and other materials i will need to replicate this
Wish i knew someone that knows how to do this i would pay them to do mine 😊
Just getting started on my Armorer helm, thanks for the great painting tips.
No worries! Thank you for watching
Congrats on the progress bro… looking sick!!!
Thank you my man!
Absolutely fizzing for the final product bro
Tryna pull thumb and smash it out this year - been draaaaging out haha
First time seeing a painting vid, it’s pretty realistic but there’s something missing…needles on the end of the darts lol😂
Awesome! I'm getting a 3D resin printed Armorer helmet and Paz Visla helmet at the end of the month and this tutorial helps a lot, many thanks!
Have you ever tried to modify one of these like taking out the air restrictor and what not so that the gun preforms better?
Gday mate, just seen this tutorial as I’m wanting to get a 3d printed helmet and do this exact thing. What file did you use for the helmet, I was going to go with the Hex3d sculpt. Need someone to print it as I don’t have a printer a yet. I found a local guy who changes $150 for a one piece print

Cool as a suggestion to help with paint adhesion over years, sand the entire blaster and wash the parts. Use vinyl dye spray paint for larger sections. My blasters have stood the test of time! Great content! 👍🏾🤟🏾 Heavystarch100
What did you make your 3D print out of? PLA, PETG, or something else?
WHAT??????????????????????????
Quick question. I'm assuming the silver coat didn't also have a layer of clearcoat, correct? Or should I cover the undercoat with clearcoat to protect it from the toothpaste?
A year late - but hopefully still helpful, I have a primer base coat under the silver that holds the metallic paint quite well, so no clear coat or sealer over the silver before the toothpaste and top coat, clear coat tends to matte metallic paints and dull them. Most metallic paints have a clear additive that acts as a sealer so I don’t tend to seal them before weathering etc
i can paint it without opening the blaster?
I saw your review on amazon! Amazing job!
Time to combo someone unexpectedly in a nerf war
That's awesome!! I'm gonna give it a try
The only mod I want from this blaster is to add the the having option of being able to remove the barrel drums for the darts easy back and forth when reloading just like in the games.
Hey bro, that graphite powder you used, do you combine it to anything to make it stick to the plastic?
Respect for job! Cool!
My country banned the rapid strike c18 nerf gun because criminals spray painted the gun black and use it to do a bank robbery back in the day. Because of that any toy gun that looks like a real gun were banned for a while until they issue a law to have the toy guns but it must never be painted or customize to look realalistic else it will be charge. So no painting for me.
Thank you for this tutorial; I'm going to use this technique for an Arkham knight mold
Never considered trying a custom Nerf paint job but watching this makes me want to give it a go. New subscriber
Awesome craftsmanship, Thankyou for making this video
When you wrapped that cloth around the handle lt brought the whole thing together. Im learning so much just from these videos lol
A good spring upgrade would also up the FPS.
Did you sand the whole gun?
I gotta be honnest. I don't know how they didn't make a halo commando. That gun just looks like it could be a nerf gun for events like this.
That is insane! Amazing job!
So you didn’t take out the wires? Do you have to?
