I come mainly from manga so the nuances in color and all that jazz doesn't much resonate with me like that, so I will take your word for it that there was an issue here with the coloring. As for the story, I feel like Chuck was going for the episodic nature of a police procedural sitcom and that is why it wrapped up the way it did unlike Isom which for at least 1 2 and 3 have been advertised as the "Ill advised arc" so it might be better to look at Isom 1, 2 and 3 as one complete story. I got the sense that Alphacore had no grounds to further pursue Copper and Lil so it was just them throwing a not so subtle final jab at them before they had to let them go. I am sure they and Alphacore will butt heads in future issues though.
