Welcome to my channel dedicated to awesome trucks, cars and anything else that's cool on 4 wheels. I've worked in the automotive industry for over 10 years. My personal favorites vehicles are luxury off road trucks like the Ford Raptor and TRX. To me, there's nothing better than a truck that can tackle any terrain and at the same time ride like a Caddy on the road and an interior that rivals any other luxury vehicles but aren't close to having the same capabilities.

The Ford Ranger Has Cheapened The "Raptor" Name
The F150 Raptor and even the Bronco Raptor are good representations of what the Raptor is but...The Ranger does not and here's why.

Ford has some new features on their trucks and today we will talk about 3 of those new features. Lmk if any of these will be of use to you or if it's just more money and features you don't really need.
Should You Buy A Gen 1 Raptor In 2022?
Просмотров 48 тыс.2 года назад
The Gen 1 Ford Raptor was a game changer when it came out in 2010 and now with Gen 3 Raptors and the NEW Raptor R coming out, I want to step back in time and see if the Gen 1 Raptor is still viable option in 2022.

The Official Raptor Killer!? NEW Chevy Silverado ZR2

The New Chevy ZR2 is competing with the Raptor, TRX and new Tundra TRD Pro but does it deliver?
Don't buy a gen 1 Raptor and let your wife drive it! Now I have two (his/hers).😮
300k on my 5.4 svt raptor daily driver, gonna swap a 7.3
Gen 1 owner, now at 456K km or 283K miles, beautiful truck, will be passed down to my grandson
There’s one near me 2013 with 114k miles for 29k should I pull the trigger?
Yes you should. I Just bought one last week 100,000 miles on .Found it in molten orange 2011. Never own one but I love it. Hope it last a long time.
Yes. Just got my 2014 Ruby Red high mileage and drives like a dream. It is a legendary truck
I bought my 2010 6,2 Raptor in 2011 in Alaska. I have only 71,000 miles but I beat the crap out of it off-roading. I retired to NC and drove it only in bad weather. It’s 2024 and I have a new found appreciation for it! I think I’ll supercharge it and put big ass shocks on it and make it a true Baja truck.
Hell yeah I bought one in 2024. Great trucks
80k on my gen 1 she has never left me stranded and I mob the hell out of my rig. I drive new trucks and go home to see that they offer nothing more than my truck already has. She is a hammer compared to the Drill as I like to call the boosted engines. Yes a drill is faster, but a Ol hammer will never let you down!
2012 Raptor super crew owner here in iconic silver. I absolutely love my truck! It’s very rare seeing a Gen1 in SoCal, all I see are Gen2’s and more Gen3’s. Once every few weeks I’ll see 1 other Gen1 and never in my color! But I have bronze method 305’s, black widow exhaust, k&n intake, winch, air compressor, fox 3.0 with KHC coil bucket, evil mfg uca’s/LCA’s, deaver +3 springs, RPG RST 18 in rear with fox 3.5 triple bypass, iwe deletes, going to be switching out my front setup for rpg bolt kit soon with adv fiberglass all around and 37’s. It’s a hell of a truck, better gas mileage than the Tacoma I had plus much more power! Now my malamute has room to move around in the truck! Would I buy another?! Absofukkinlutely!!
I’ve heard that goosetuned can fix the transmission issues with his Cobb flash.
My Gen 3 feels hard in sport mode going into 2 and 3 but that’s only if the engine just got warm. If I go into sport after 15mins of driving it shifts smooth. But in normal mode the transmission is good and smooth
I like the blue instead of orange interior
Got rid my 2009 Range Rover Sport with 85k for 2014 Gen 1 Raptor silver w/ exactly like the one you demo ed except it’s a four door and it’s a beautiful thing sooo much leg room both in front and in the back my two Mastiff’s Cane & 22 yr old French Mastiff ( think he’s an anomaly ) they lay in between while my daughter is in the booster seat lol, all her friends in school admire Dad’s truck they call it the cool monster truck when I my off and take her to school or come get her … Had an Avalanche 20 yrs ago which I loved too especially for tailgating @ football games the coolers side compartments was great but the Raptor is all around the best & coolest driving , sounding All around truck . I’m never getting rid of it .
Laughing a bit at how important "technology" is to some folks. Less the better over the long run. My main concerns are does it run well and reliably.
Considering a low mileage 2012 H-D edition that has the 6.2 in it. Looks solid. History is good. Any tips on what to watch for? I know sunroof has problems, but the dealer did work on it, and I would never open it. Heard about the fuse 27 issue. Spark plugs a pain/expensive. Anything else? Appreciate any advice.
I'm planning to buy a gen 1 2014 Ford Raptor SVT and your video helped me a lot. I could really make a good decision. Keep it going. Loved it 😍😍
It’s all we can get in the UK, our roads are way too small for full size pickups.
Great Vid, I just purchased a 2014, and no info came with it. So these Vid's are super! It's so damn Sexy!!
I’m currently debating between the gen 1 6.2l or the gen 2 3.5l ecoboost I’ve seen mixed reviews on both any help??
Just ordered a new one. I’ve always had sierras so we’ll see how it goes. I just couldn’t deal with the breaking sierra anymore
I could t stand the sound of my 2017. So I sold it and bought a 2013 with the 6.2L and later bought a TRX. I couldn’t do the ecoboost. It was a nice truck though…well, the 10 speed was annoying too.
I just bought a 2012 gen 1 single owner all records maintained and in a folder. This thing is very nice to drive it has lots of little upgrades such as MSD ignition coils new NGK plugs, drilled and slotted rotors, bbk throttle body, bbk cold air intake, corsa extreme cat back exhaust, aftermarket headlights and tail lights, different diff cover with drain, method rims, sequential signals in mirrors and a host of other nice little mods has 100k on it and the previous owner shared pictures with me of him threw several stages of this truck going down the assembly line. I feel i got super lucky and got one from a guy that really loved his truck.
My dad's got a 2010 (Build date on the door is actually 2009) despite it falling apart due to New York salt he still enjoys driving it.
Best built Raptors years in order: 2020 2010 2021 2019 2017 The rest are the worst built.
Elaborate.
Had a gen 1 2011, traded it for a gen 2 2018 which was rear-ended and totalled so I bought a super low mileage shelby gen 1. It's hard to tip that v8 6.2 sound and feel.
Drive it first is my suggestion.
I can see how this opinion is formed when your from the states as you have far better access to these sorts of vehicles. I have owned one for nearly one year now over in New Zealand and couldn't be happier with it. If I was to buy a f150 raptor base model in NZ by the time it's converted over I'm paying around 130k USD for it, and for the dodge TRX that is around 150k USD. In car review articles they have compared the ranger raptor and TRX over in Australia and the ranger raptor was perfered over the TRX in some aspects mainly refinement and on road driving. If I was to improve my ranger raptor I would have it with 35s not 33s and an extra 100hp wouldn't hurt.
Comparing the horsepower to other trucks, the Raptor is so heavy, you’ll lose every race! I used to own one… 😂
The first were $130k but sticker on these were like $43,000 in 2012. Even with inflation, current pricing is completely inflated and unnecessary. Gas mileage is CRITICAL to me (storm chasing = massive annual mileage and cost) Personally, I really wanted the 5.4L to have been offered longer. I don't need extreme fast performance and the slightly better mileage would have been waaaaay better for me. HOWEVER, the 2010 (only year of the 5.3L) was only offered as an extended cab. The full crew cab was added the second year (2011) but dropped the 5.3L. I really wish I could afford the Ecoboost although the longevity/reliability is questionable and always prefer V8s (same with 4runners/Sequoia debate. I don't know...maybe if I could get my YT monetized I could afford any of it.
Got mine for $31k with 70k miles matte black with fuel rims I like it
I've been so busy trying to figure out if I should, that I never stopped to think if I could... And I can't xD
I understand where you're coming from but I think they did it more to compete with everyone else like jeep wranglers and broncos Ford rangers and Colorado and canyon and Tacoma's and frontier it's more a game of who's is bigger I do think with the ranger raptor they could've done more to make it raptor like maybe a new smaller displacement V8 option that revvs to the moon but hey that's just me
Yeah for sure it’s all competition and money. I just don’t like the idea of it
@@hegshotdrives7615 oh yeah completely get it
so...if you're over the rated weight limit for the pickup, it will rat you out to highway enforcement people; because you know they WILL use that, now that they know about it.
Onboard scale is a good idea, but just display it on the dashboard. Using the tail lights is dumb.
Just more electronic and computer stuff to go out and cost a lot to fix.
Curious how many miles these motors are good for? I just looked at a 2013 with 231k miles on it. Great condition and appears to be well taken care of...but at over 200k in miles how much more life can the truck really have left in it before some major money has to be spent on it? Thanks in advance!
I would like a answer on this also but I think that most things on the truck like the shocks, the fluids bushings, and even certain parts of the engine will have to be thoroughly looked at numerous. Always remember that things don’t last forever.
I've got 225,000 miles . I do have a squealing noise . Replaced woth idle rollers, belt tensioner, alternator, still have squealing. Guess I need to take it to dealership . Maybe harmonic balancer, or internal timing chain tensioner.
Maybe power steering
I can't find ANY that arent all ragged out.
Love my Molten 2010 with the 6.2!
I've only ever seen a 2012 ford raptor Shelby for sale once.
My biggest complaint is the lack of leg room in the back. Anyone who wanted to ride in the back would need to be of short statue. Still it's cheaper than the newest trucks.
Sold my gen 2 when I had multiple cam phasers issues and got a Gen1 single owner never abused and drives better than my gen 2 did.
I’ve heard that the 2nd gen is the worse.
I still want the second gen
I love my 2014 screw...mine is charged.its changed my mind about ford in general. I have 156k mi on mine. I wouldnt trade it for anything. The things raptors are capable of are amazing. My truck has saved my bacon many of times.
I have a Gen 1 with just over 200k miles on it only upgrade I’ve done were new oem shocks Also a 2 inch lift great truck and very dependable if you take care of it. It will take care of you My daily driver I bought it with used 12 k miles on it first owner was older man so he took very good care of it.
Still love the truck! 13.5 mpg average most of the time. Again, as docile as you want or as stupid as you want,,, all depends on your right foot! :)))
I have a 2013 super cab in the terrain color. I’m going to replace the suspension with SVC’s King upgrade package, install lights and bumpers, and some power upgrades. With those upgrades I’ll be holding on to the truck forever.
My 2013 has 138K miles and it’s a great truck.
I have my 2014 SE for 8yrs and will never let it go.
I have an opportunity to get a 2012 Raptor in race red with a lot of options, 38” tires, 6inch lift, light bars, intake & exhaust etc. it has 120k miles going for $32k is that a good deal and is the mileage too high?
That's a good deal bro u especially I'f it comes built jus look inspect the truck I'f it hasn't been abused or jumped before buying that's my experience
@@antoniodelgado4939 That one sold but I found another with BDS lift and a lot of other upgrades 2013 with 90k miles $33k
@@Lilwebstarr that's a good deal to bro go for it there really reliable trucks
@@antoniodelgado4939 Thanks man I think I will. I’ve heard they are extremely reliable and bulletproof engines lol
My 2014 SVT special edition has 117K with only a battery, rotors, shocks, tires replaced. This truck replaced my 2012 SVT and is the only time I have ever replaced a vehicle with same after owning over 50 cars in my 75 year of existance. I am one of the few that payed well under sticker! I still have the window sticker and this super cab with EVERY option was only around 55K! Anyway, my dealer says "never sell this truck". This will be my last vehicle I will likely own or drive at my age. PS I run regular gas so considering how many newer vehicle now require premium at 50 plus cents a gallon, well not too bad. Thanks for the great review - well detailed and easy to understand.
