How to 3D model a chunky ring with a maltese cross pattern in Rhino
Просмотров 4142 года назад
Here's a short CAD jewelry tutorial. In this tutorial I model a massive ring with a Maltese cross pattern. As always, in CAD design, there are manny ways to achieve the same thing. To me, this was the simplest way. Hope you enjoy it. If you want to see the jewelry we make, we are posting regularly on Instagram: joined_by_fire

How to model a Miami cuban chain in Rhino 3D part 3
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.2 года назад
This is my approach to modeling a 3d Miami Cuban chain with 1 mm stones and a box clasp. It is a rather long tutorial so, I've divided it into 3 parts. Part 1 - Modeling a 3d chain link. Part 2 - Arranging the stones. Part 3 - Modeling the box clasp and final presentation. I have cut and sped up as much as I could from the video, without jumping any important steps. Hope you enjoy it. If you wa...

How to model a bail for jewelry in rhino 3d
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.2 года назад
This is a quick way of modeling a bail. By using "record history" you also have the option to adjust it to fit your needs. I have included 2 bail types and a simple heart-shaped pendant in the video, as an example. Hope you find this useful! How to model a compass pendant in Rhino 3d
Просмотров 5372 года назад
This is my process of modeling a compass pendant in Rhino 3d. The steps are: Deciding the stones and making prongs and cutters, building the pendant to accommodate the stones, building the "star" separate so it can be cast in different materials but also for easy finishing access inside the pendant, and finally adding a bail. If you want to see the video at actual speed, turn off the volume and...

How to make ceramic slip. Some people use just water to "stick" ceramic clay pieces together, others use slip. We use slip, and this is our "complicated" way of making it.
How to model a ring with an under bezel stone setting 3d in Rhino
Просмотров 5873 года назад
Hello everyone! This is a simple tutorial on how I model my under-bezel stone setting. It may not be a perfect way, there might be simpler ways but this works for me as I model, 3d print, cast, and set the stones. You might see some fiddling around, just bear with me. I shot the video at 02:00 am. The video is 2x the normal speed (except for the rendering part), and you may use it as a guidelin...

    Very hard to catch which command you used.. passes really quick.. it is like showing, not How-to…. Could you please make a tag of command on the screen at a time??? I cannot really notice it… pause so many times, but it goes so quick….

      This is not my main activity. I make a lot of custom jewelry and I do everything in-house. That means design, 3d design if it's needed, casting, wax sculpting, finishing the parts, engraving, stone setting, and the rest of what it means to be a jeweler. I don't have much time, so I post rarely here and only when and what I get to record and I believe to be a decent tutorial.

    hi !!! enter your channel and download the video you made a ring. later I entered this and saw that you model in wax. and you make a casting for lost wax. you have not thought about 3d printing. for you it would be fantastic with the rhino knowledge you have. there are jewelry printers for $ 300. congratulations and thank you very much!

      Hi! Thank you for watching our videos. We do have and use a 3d printer both with castable resin and non-castable that we use for molds, but sometimes a jewel has more "life" when is made by hand. We use pretty much every technique "in the book" to bring our ideas to life.

      @@JoinedByFire I understand what you're saying. I started out bending brass wire ... in the 80's ... hitchhiking. It was just an idea. sorry and thank you for your attention.

    Do you need to give all those edges a tiny radius before casting? Nice tutorial.

    • @JoinedByFire
      @JoinedByFire 3 года назад

      It is not mandatory, it would depend on the final look you want to achieve and the investment you use (some of the cheap investment would not hold a sharp edge very well) . I was going for a sharp look, but if you would like a "softer" look, then, a 0.2 mm chamfer would do the trick.

    Interesting video ! It seems to me that is the only way to get proper angles who fits the shape of the table.

    • @JoinedByFire
      @JoinedByFire 3 года назад

      Hi, thanks for watching, I am by no means an expert, I just model the things we need in our small shop. This method has pros and cons. It involves alot more work and it's time consuming but you have total freedom over the shape, angles or any other details you might want to control.

    • @MrAlragan
      @MrAlragan 3 года назад

      @@JoinedByFire Yeah, i think i'm gonna try this way, i am currently working on a cushion shape and all thinks i have tried are not satisfactory. My angles turned rounded.
