You guys are having a great discussion thats fun to listen to btw.
We have a lot of fun doing these! Thank you for commenting! We love hearing about all points of view. Have a great day and don't be a stranger!
It's less about the game and more about making sure you learn your political lessons that the dev team wants you to internalize. The gameplay is just addicting and fun enough to keep you watching. It's the same thing they do with ads. Make the TV program fun, hit them with an ad. Thats all this is. Make the game fun, hit them with a 10 minute 1st grade level lecture about how to PROPERLY think about Pronouns. Is there an option to disagree? No. Because you're not supposed to think. You're supposed to absorb and stfu. Oh also pay them $70 for this lesson that you so desperately needed to be patronizingly explained to you by Air Brushed Disney Characters. Totally agree with you all - Keep the trans representation, (hurts no one and gives people a better way to express themselves as a fictional RPG character or IRL analogue character) remove the ideologies of pathetic losers. We want the trans representation, we WANT interesting characters with non-forced representation that isnt LECTURING US how to think, we want stories about interesting characters, is that so hard to understand? We DON'T WANT to be lectured about how to think. F*ck yourself EA/Bioware. You ruined a beloved IP so you could soap box about IRL politics to children. It's pathetic. This isn't story telling. This is bullshit propaganda for young people dressed up as a "game" for adults. /end rant
I find the combat fun, but extremely simplistic and itemization artifical. In the end damage scaling is bound to game progress as you need to collect knicknacks to upgrade the workshop. The tree is full of small incremental meaningless bonuses and a set of moves compared to D4 which really allowed for a lot builds and customization of playstyles.
Great analysis! I like how the itemization unlocks other features that stack bonuses or things like bleed, necrosis, or cold. Thank you for commenting and have a great day!
@GamersAdvocate-Official One more thing on that after listening to the whole thing. One thing that i found annoying as hell was the upgrade system. Similar to God of War the made upgrading limited with resources which made it frustrating to dump a lot of resources into something and finding the same thing better 10 minutes later. It feels unfinished. The merging of items was great. Progression and damage split on Skill tree and exploration? Cool. Upgrading always worried its a waste? Booo. Particularly for a mage since you got 2 weapons split into 3 elements each. :/ Again, a lot of fun and refreshingly personal. Hope you do a big spoiler version later on too.
Indeed. There are attributes between the upgrade system in GoW and Veilguard and I don't know how significant the upgrades are when you do find an item that is it's equal or "better" a few minutes later, but I can say that if you look at the attributes within each item (much like in GoW) that the bonuses are different based on your play style. For example, I played significantly in a build that ignored necrosis and I would find items that did more DPS, but didn't stack a bonuses because it's bonus was necrosis. So... if I continued to use the lesser DPS item that did have bonuses that I had a build for then my damage was actually more and allowed me to play in my preference. That being said, items may get a revisit and patches will likely need to happen to either buff up or nerf down some things. It's not a live action game like Diablo... if you want a supreme meta build then that's fun too, but I think the goal was to let players play in the style they want to and not be forced to use new items or a differnt build simply because one number appears to be significantly better than your current one. Again, thank you for watching the full episode and we hope to hear from you again!
@GamersAdvocate-Official I agree. Maybe i also cane off wrong since i only shared criticism but I am immensely enjoying my time with it. It looks gorgeous, i love how it plays smoothly, with next to no time in menus and i although im not really political i applause the courage to champion inclusivity. Happy for the folks that feel seen and can play a game and feel they belong. It's unfortunate how our culture has become this cesspool though. The steam discussion is depressing. Thats it for me now, thanks for engaging and please keep going. I'm a big podcast guy and we need more grounded and personal discussions like yours. Will follow!
criticism is good. feel free to share, vent, or just tell us how beautiful banana is lol. thank you for sharing
Good talk! Cheers
Thank you for listening! Glad you enjoyed it, and hope to see you again. :) - Kom
The combat is Mass Effect's system. It works well.
Yeah, it definitely has strong similarities. At risk of sounding incredibly obvious, the more I play it, the more it feels like a very "Bioware" combat system (for good and for bad). I'm still having a good time with it. The relative shallowness helps keep the game clipping along at a nice pace. Thanks for the comment, bigsarge :) - Kom
Which mass effect?
@@memes4195 Legion here. I would say closest to 3 as Kom referenced in the video, without the squad mates falling in combat, which, should likely have been added to ensure more risk with combat.
Please don't talk over the dialogue.
Legion here. Sorry about that. I do try to make everything cinematic as possible, but immediate chatters do deserve validation and I do plan on either streaming or uploading a more cinematic approach either on my own channel or on this one in the future. The game has been extremely polarizing and several chatters wanted clarification about several issues. Thanks for commenting!!
I think where the exploration version of Assassin's Creed can become a problem for history lessons is where newer Assassin's Creeds have started to deviate not from a narrative standpoint but from a research of society standpoint. Assassin's Creed Shadow takes place in the late 1500's during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. There are several instances of where Chinese architecture is used in the game. Now very early Japanese architecture was inspired by the Tang Dynasty architecture but that's like a 2000 year difference between when Japan was first founded and when the game is taking place.
Also you can't prove TMNT isn't historically accurate.
Also even in 2009 we saw terrible sides to war in Modern Warfare 2 with the infamous airport scene. I want to point out the glorification of war was a thing in game history but earlier in gaming history like with the earlier Call of Duty games.
Less Legion and more Babba!
Personally I think the last of us is so overrated I don't even think it's Naughty Dogs best game I personally believe that distinction goes to the Uncharted series and yes I think the last of us one is good but I still think it's very overrated and don't even get me started with part 2😂
There are definitely a lot of immersion breaking moments in TLoU. The tall grass making the character go john cena mode is becoming a standard. It doesn’t work as well in that game as there are moments where there was a ton of action and for enemies to never see you despite being less than 3 feet away is broken.
The Odd man sends his regards
The OddMan is one of my favourites - Kom
Legion: *asks Babbaganoush a question* Banana: *answers question instead of guest* What an asshole!

In my opinion Garrus is the most annoying, boring and childlike character in Mass Effect 1. Dude just whines and whines how he can't kill civilians to get the criminals lol. As for my Tier List it's S - Tali and Wrex A - Ashley B - Kaidan C - Liara D - Garrus
I love how there are a variety of opinions about these companions. It’s not uncommon for many games to develop a fan base due to its companions and npc’s, but ME seems to stand out in the outspokenness of its advocates and detractors lol. Thank you for your comment and tell us a little more about your tier list, if you don’t mind, and what pushed Ash into an “A”?
@@GamersAdvocate-Official True, the beauty of ME is that there's diferent characters for everyone's tastes. As for what pushed Ashley in A tier it was how she keeps challenging Shepard throughout the series. I'm a fan of friction between companions and protagonists when certian choices are made. The heated reunion in ME2 on Horizon felt very realistic and interesting. Also I sympathize with her backstory due to her grandfather's reputation and I fully understand why she doesn't like Turians (they're full of themselves for my tastes). The main reason I put Garrus on D is how he never challenges Shepard with any of the choices, he just polishes your boots regardless of the path you go. As for why Wrex and Tali are both in S I think they are a perfect balance of loyalty to Shepard and to their own species and how they get pissed off and challenge Shepard when he/she tries to fuck with their races. And personally they have the most endearing and compelling personalities.
Great analysis! There is definitely a lot of variety of opinions regarding the companions but you rarely find a wild variation in rankings. example: Tali is F tier. There is usually a +/- of a grade or two. Thank you again for your detailed response!
Easily one of the best play throughs I have ever seen. Well done!

I can't believe everything that Banana guy said.
same
I find it interesting that fella banana seems very eager to apologize for what is commonly viewed as abusive actions by developers. For example - when discussing review embargos - which are absolutely used to prevent negative word of mouth that hurts initial game sales, this is just .... how it is, like it or not. He attempts to conflate that with review bombing.... which is pretty strange. That and his previous apologizing for Andromeda - which is objectively bad compared to previous Mass Effect titles as "it wasnt as good as the others" which is an interesting way to interpret things, much like WW2 was "a disagreement" - Andromeda isn't *bad* because it wasn't as good as the previous titles(although it is bad for a myriad reasons), it was *bad* because it was created by the same organization that had managed those titles for years previously and despite all this still made an aggressively average title. You're right, if it was the first game in the series it would have been much more forgivable - but you're missing the implication of that, the institutional knowledge and skill which developed from repeatedly doing something. Hell yes your 4th try at something is expected to be better than your first. .... anyhoo, neat podcast.
Just wanted to clarify some things, I don't think review embargos equate to protecting yourself from review bombing. Just wanted to point out that review bombing has been co-opted by many who want to punish developers for things like representation in gaming. I tried to make it clear that I support a devs right to protect themselves from illegitimate criticism like that, not their right to deny legitimate criticism. Also Andromeda does suck, but the whole point of that section was to say something nice about a game.
Weird to compare Andromeda to WW2 but okay
@@pepthefish the idea is create a vivid mental picture. Helps convey meaning. In the business we call it “evocative” language. I’m kind of expecting people to be smart enough to realize it’s not a literal comparison. Should I be disappointed?
This was a good video I quite enjoyed it will there be a ranking for the other two games if so I can't wait

@@dwanuga THE BEST FF episode you’ll ever see/hear
RIP Gareth Bale. They can't hurt you anymore.
Rest in peace. In his home.
It took less than 2 minutes for Final Fantasy 7 to be mentioned. 😂 Fantastic episode once again! 🥰
We're gonna need to play it again, as soon as possible. If it took 2 minutes, then that feels like we're slipping :) You're the best, thank you!
Lore is incredibly important to telling a story. But lore isn't story, lore is the foundation from which a story is told. You don't need to know the entire geneology of a royal bloodline in a story about saving a princess from an evil pig monster or the cosmic forces involved in a game about stopping evil fiends from corrupting the world. Lore can be good to implement into a game as books and things to explore for lore nerds who want it, but if you need NPCs to sit a player down and lore dump them in order for your story to make sense, you're actively making your game worse.
Strong point! Lore really can help flesh out story lines, but it can hamper story telling if not done with the respect that it deserves. Thank you for commenting!!
BG3 is definitely my favourite game, the music is fantastic but I cannot unhear "who's that bald capybara" if you know, you know.
I didn't know until now, but I'll never hear that intro the same way again! :) - Kom
Bald is beautiful! Thanks for commenting!!
Oh, I notice when we talk about our favorite soundtracks, it's **Legion's** favorite that plays in the background.
Ha! :D The lack of Jenova's theme hurts me to this day. -Kom
LOVED this. Still caught up on the Tetris blocks having names. Help.
Thank you for commenting! That's the beautiful thing about lore... when you find it it generates a new sense of discovery that let's the player revisit a game from a fresh point of view. Have a great day!
Love the content so far, Lore and easter eggs are 2 of many reasons why i like gaming . especially easter eggs that pay tribute to Actors Like the grave site in Horizon forbidden west for Lance Redick, there just so wholesome. keep up the good work
Hi Ad Astra! We're glad you like it. That's an interesting easter egg to point out. I'd love to dive into In-Game Memorials at some point in the future. Thank you for watching!
