Assalaam aleikum wa rehmatullahe wa barakaatohu brothers and sisters around the worlds! Please, if you feel as helpless as I do, remember ONE thing: The best thing we can do on a personal level is to SET STRAIGHT our connection with Allah swt. Be on point with the 5 daily prayers, start and end your day with Quraan recitation (even if it´s only the short surah Fajr and surah Mulk at night), focus on becoming a true Muslim, spend a part of your day (even just 15 min) reading the Quraan in your language and trying to APPLY the behaviour modelled in it (Quraan is for pondering and applying). And my golden tip for anxiety: Daily dhikr/zikr! It´s really a life-hack, when you get your focus in. Especially istighfaar is a total miracle. Look...we are in this mess because we frankly got carried away by the dunya! We started focusing on the next paycheck, getting a house, sending money to loved ones, getting married, getting kids...these are all taking us away from imaan, and making us focus on dunya. Nothing of it will last, neither your fancy house nor your personal goals. We forgot to focus on personal development, spiritual purity (the heart, mind, gaze and behaviour) and UNITY. To be Muslim is actually to be awake. Yet we fell "asleep", chasing the next goal of dunya. Please please please...just by becoming a more awake and active Muslim, insh´Allah, we will gain Allah´s favour and help. We, the Ummah, have strayed too far away. Please stop focusing on whose beard is how short and who isn´t wearing hijaab...focus on YOU and talk to Allah swt everyday, ask for personal hidaaya. The moment we become real Muslims...just watch and see. Things will change insh´Allah! We will not feel this anxious, scared and helpless. Get out of your cultures, Muslims! Ditch the cultural "must haves" and toxic community competition. Focus on Deen!
