I rented a bike on Twisted Road- my first time using a motorcycle rental website. In this video I talk about how the Versys 650 does for this kind of trip, and some great places to stay for the night and eat on a budget. Riding the Pacific Coast Highway is a bucket list ride, I highly recommend it to anyone! 0:00 Intro 0:36 Day 1 - LA 16:12 Day 2 Santa Monica to Morro Bay 30:57 Morro Bay to LA

Budget Motorcycle Boots from Amazon - Worth it or waste of Money? O’Neal Rider Boots honest review

Today we're looking at the O'Neal Rider boots. They have some of the most reviews on Amazon and at about $120, the might be a good deal. We'll look at build quality, comfort and fit, and see if they hold up to dual sport and adventure riding.
Riding the Yamaha XT250 to a Giant Volcano in the Desert - Cabezon Peak, NM

Hi guys, thanks for joining me for my first video! Today I am headed to Cabezon Peak, it is a giant volcanic plug in the middle of the desert. I am taking the backway there, I've never gone this way and made it all the way through, I have to say it was pretty great. I highly recommend taking this route if your vehicle is capable off road, but regardless, you should check out the peak since you ...

    As a CO resident, I really appreciate your commentary as a fellow XT250 owner. Ignore the haters. For the record, I've owned a K650, GS800, GS310, TW200, and ultimately settled on this bike as the perfect one. If it's good enough for Rambo, it's good enough for me!

    With only 168 now 169 subscribers, you have excellent editing. You might be a little harsh on the $100 boot as buckles can be replaced. Replace the buckle, break them in, and give an update in 6 months. Obviously, there are better boots. Some just can't afford the best but still want to be protected. If the buckles break while riding, that would be an issue.

    I just really don’t get the point of DCT on this type of bike. Even when people talk about why they like it, all they really say is “it’s great and every time it’s not you can override it” Almost everything people who like it talk about is compensating for it. At best, it’s better in stop and go traffic. That’s about it.

    I bought one of these, but an older, carburetor model, for my teenage daughter to learn on. She ended up not liking riding a motorcycle, so it became my bike. I used it a lot off road as a trail bike. But where I live, in the Texas hill country, some of the back roads have a 75 mph speed limit and I couldn't keep up and didn't always have an opportunity to get out of the way. I decided it was probably unsafe to keep it if I was going to be dual sport riding in my area. So I traded it in for a CRF450L. On paper, the CRF is way more capable and a better bike. But I would say for riding around town and slow speed riding on back roads, the XT250 was more fun. Not taking anything away from the CRF but it requires more attention and commitment, making it a harder bike to ride. I sometimes miss the XT and think it's great for how you're using it.

    • @AdventureMotoSouthwest
      @AdventureMotoSouthwest 2 месяца назад

      I'll bet that 450 is a blast though! But yes, I really like how light this thing is, but you're right that it does not belong on the interstate for sure

    I had trouble with apple car play always glitching and dropping out. I figured out that if i turn Bluetooth off on my iPhone, carplay works flawlessly no matter what sequence of startup I use. I think what was happening is the bike was connecting through Bluetooth to my phone and to my headset at the same time and kicking my headset off. The Bluetooth symbol on the TFT screen would flash intermittently. Now when I get fuel, I leave the headset on, and when I restart the bike and ride away and it links every time. Super easy. It goes without saying my iPhone is connected to the bike with a data cord.

    • @AdventureMotoSouthwest
      @AdventureMotoSouthwest 2 месяца назад

      yes, I agree! This works. And then when the bike 'sees' the phone, just holding the back button on the left handlebar to cancel out of the 'connect headset' screen.

  • @FrankKemperMuc
    @FrankKemperMuc 3 месяца назад

    I have a 2022 CRF1100L Africa Twin DCT in Germany, and I'd like to add two comments: 1. The self cancelling indicators simply work based on the distance the bike travels. Once you set them, they will cancel after 150 meter (about 450 feet). I found this to be too short for me, so I disabled self cancelling in the setup menu. 2. Your problems with Apple CarPlay: I never heard about that specific problem. When I start my bike I first connect my phone to the bike, then I switch on my headset, then I switch on the ignition. The bike connects to my headset first and then connects to the phone. And I have installed a Carlinkit 4.0 wireless carplay adapter, so my phone can stay in my jacket. This is super-easy for short trips, but for trips longer than two hours I have to provide a charging device for the phone, so I carry a small powerbank for that. One thing you probably know: For proper functionality it is essential that the headset is ONLY paired to the bike and NOT to the phone. The Honda serves as a hub between phone and headset. Hope that helps.

    great video, very informative, thank you very much for time and efford you put into it, thinking about buying Africa Twin too, good for 2024 now they come with tubeless tires and some little tweeks. Had Tenere 700 for a season, 12 000km so about 7500 miles and found it too weak for road, too heavy for offroad, that i dont do much offroad, just found it not good in any department. I now ride 2019 ninja 636 but looking to go back to adventures again. Im little torn between F900GS but im afraid it is too similar to Tenere and i will find touring pita. Great video again, subscribed. Kind regards
